If you know me, you know I am pretty much one of the most honest people you will meet and I will tell you almost anything you want to know whether you want to know it or not. So it's just after three in Southern California, I am at the kitchen table while Skye is playing in the yard chasing all her imaginary friends. (Bugs we don't see) I am having a glass of wine (because I can) and listening to A Decade of Steely Dan. Still fighting the ugly in my lungs but having better days for sure so let's just say I'm doing the happy dance even though physically I can't!
Thought I would share some pictures. Don't seem to take too many these days. Love my Polish Pottery. These are the clean bowls after our Oscar party and you needed to see them because your life will be so much better having seen them!
A quick picture of the green hills below our house before the sun burns them away within a few weeks.
So a cute little story to share with you. The little box you see here and in the next picture is from my days in High School. It's just a mini me of a Lane Hope Chest. Everyone had to buy a hope chest so they could save all the linens, dishes, etc. that they would get as gifts (because your are a girl and someday you will get married) and save them for your wedding day. Well I never bought the big one but had used this little one to keep mementos (not the mints) in from my hubby.
So above mentioned daughter and I are having a ball cleaning out my closet. NOT! (you remember the recent posts) So she is holding up this box and says to me "WHO IS THIS?" I look at her in what must have been a crazy ass face so she said it again "WHO IS THIS?" I was LOST just like the TV show! (well I'm not living on a island but you get the picture)
Well see the reason she asked that is because my last two dogs who were the loves of my life before my precious Skye, who I didn't want to replace with the same breed after they passed, have been cremated to go into Crystal Craig Lake at Mammoth Lakes, CA when the first one to kick the bucket ends up there! So when she saw the box she was confused because she didn't remember anyone else being cremated! I haven't laughed that hard in years. OMG it was so funny. Below you will see Maggie and Angels boxes.
And this next one is a baby hawk on one of the fence posts at the back of the yard. Isn't he cute!
Hope you enjoyed this post. A little bit more happy then some of my last ones. Gee maybe I need to start drinking at 7:00AM! Just kidding folks, really, trust me on that one.

LOVE your Polish pottery! I have a heart-shaped dish too, but it's got a snowman painted in it. :-)
I'm glad you and your daughter could have a fun day out! :-)
I can't believe how green everything is where you are! One day it will be here too...
That is way too funny about the lane box! LOL! I have one of those too! :-)
I have one of those boxes, my dad gave it to me when I was about 12? for Christmas. I lost the key bor the lock long ago and I had to remove the hinges from teh back. oops! there was $ in it. LOL
For a regular Hope Chest the tradition inmy family was for the boyfriend to buy it before he proposed. My hubbie did it backwards because he didn't "get" the tradition.
That is too funny about the box. My mom has her Westie's ashes sitting on the living room table and I keep thinking her shizu is going to knock them to the floor one day and gobble them up...
You are too funny! Enjoyed that post. Love the pottery. Puppy is a cutie.
Hugs,
Tara
That Polish pottery is so gorgeous--and you'd think I'd own some b/c I am polish. go figure!
Love all of it! The dishes are gorgeous. Glad you and your daughter got to enjoy some time together. And the green...oh my....it's so green!
Beautiful toes...beautiful feet..beautiful heart!
I love the pottery...blue is my favorite color.
Hugs,
andrea
love the dishes. funny story. baby hawks - cute. adult hawks - dangerous.
Funny story about the cremated dogs. I have a cedar box exactly like that... don't know if the girls still get those now, or not. I keep my "important" papers in mine... my wedding certificate, birth certificates, my first paycheck stub as a nurse, car titles, etc. I love my little box.
Loved! the post!!!!! Loved your random thoughts.
Cute toes...it's still way too cold here to have flip flops.
Maybe you should let Petsmart do your hair...be adventuresome!
Unfortunately I couldn't see all the chests, but the story was lovely. And I like Skye's lightbulb moment!
Your day out with your daughter sounds like so much fun!
When I saw the picture of your mini hope chest, I got up and immediately went to my closet and pulled mine out! Exactly the same down to the inscription, except mine was made in Alabama! Also mine was actually given to me by my sister. I think it may have belonged to her MIL!
You know I love, love your Polish pottery. And OMG as soon as saw that Lane box I had to remember where mine is! Right on the shelf in my closet where I put it. Did you read my post about my POW bracelet early this week? That's where it was.
I got married in 1973 so I've had that little box since then. It looks as new as the day I got it.
And what a beautiful idea for using yours.
sounds like you've been busy.. and i loove your polish pottery..
by the way- that shot of skye with the bulb is just way cute.. love it!!
I loved all of your pictures. I just love Skye there is a dog just like her I saw walking yesterday. I want a little dog. I am glad you and you daughter are doing fun things. I have a hope chest from Lane. I should do a post about it thanks. Glad the buttons are working. Hope you feel better soon..
so jealous that you are drinking wine and getting your toes done!! I seriously need a pedicure. I told the hubby that is what I want for Mother's Day!
I've never had a pedi before. That would be a good treat!! Maybe I'll do that when I can't see my feet anymore. lol
What a fun post, Debby! It really made me smile! That story about your daughter seeing the box really made me laugh -- too funny!!! Great pics too. And I agree, I totally feel better now that I've seen your beautiful polish pottery. :-)
I did enjoy the post, Debby. Love your Polish pottery, as you probably know, I collect them too. Looks like you are having so much fun with your daughter and that is really nice...Christine
Our green hills are so beautiful right now!
This post was the highlight of my day! Stories, pics, smiles, doggies, birds, fambly, and I hope you're enjoying your time at the salon today! Happy to see you BACK!! :-)
Your pottery is wonderful! Love the color! And, the ashes story is too cute! And, the toes...cute, too!
OOPS! forgot to say that I have a mini hope chest, too! The year I graduated, a furniture store gave them to all the SR. girls if we took our diplomas in.
I enjoyed this post Debby...thank you for making me smile!
Thanks for the story and laugh!
Love the Polish pottery, especially I am part Polish.
I'm the same as you - honest to a fault and will tell you almost anything you want to know whether you want to know it or not. I say what I mean and mean what I say - though sometimes I'll speak before I think. Which would probably be considered 'brutal honesty'. ;) No wonder I like you so much! :)
And yes, my life is so much better seeing your awesome Polish Pottery. :)
Love that you and your daughter had girly time getting your toes done - they turned out beautiful! Love the picture of the hills, Skye's light bulb moment (our dogs have the red one) and those boxes are really cool! And I laughed at your daughter wanting to know 'who' was in that one box... :)
Glad you're feeling better! I loved this post!! :)
oh you crack me up! I received a Lane box also. Mine sits proudly on my dresser as it has for 35 years, why? I don't know why! Glad you and daughter had such a fun day! Have a great weekend!!!
I love this! You know how much I love photos!
Debby I so want to be your daughter ... lol. Peddis, lunch and shopping! man I so need to go the Cheesecake Factory second time this week I've seen a post about it. We have one in Seattle I'm just much of a driver in the city.
You crack me up. Love ya
The boxes do look very similar. Very funny.
Thank you for visiting on my SITs day!
I just love when people put pictures in their posts because I'm just nosey like that.
That pottery...gorgeous! Pedicure with your daughter...awesome! The one time I visited my dad and sister in CA the grass was all yellow so I liked seeing the green hills, very pretty! And I always enjoy seeing pictures of your adorable little Skye (did I ever tell you that is my niece's middle name...spelled exactly the same and everything).
I'm not sure what's going on with your lungs, I'm really behind in my reading, I hope you're feeling better now.
Oh Debby, my mom has a couple of those EXACT boxes!! My sister and I used to use them for jewelry boxes or to play with when we were little.
Those dishes are beautiful!! So glad you're having fun with your daughter!
Oh, I am laughing over the "who is this" story! Too cute! laurie
cute post! the green hill is beautiful!!!
Too funny about "who is this?" I have one of those little Lane treasure boxes, too.
That baby hawk is so cool! I don't think I've ever seen a baby hawk. Thank you for taking that photo. Thanks so very much :)
