RANDOM DOZEN

Click on the donuts above and join Linda's Random Dozen

1. Please share one memory of your high school graduation. Pics would be great!
I have a great one. My parents had a party for me at the house and I invited friends to come over for a party. So while a family party was going on upstairs our basement was full of my high school friends plus dozens more! Alcohol was involved which I didn't supply!

2. What is one "emergency use" item you keep in your vehicle at all times?
Actually I have a small travel nebulizer in my trunk for my asthma. On a lighter note I have a small spray bottle of window cleaner and paper towel in case a bird get me! When my children were young I would always keep those airplane puke bags in my car :(

3. In your region, do you celebrate graduation open houses? Addendum: (If so,) how many open houses/bridal showers/weddings are on your upcoming events calendar?
I have absolutely nothing on my calendar.

4. Tell me one truth you believe about motherhood.
No matter what happens the love is unconditional.

5. What was the last thing you broke?
The tongue came off my bowling shoe and I did break a pair of my cheap reading glasses. It wasn't me but DH broke a wine glass last night!

6. On average, how many pieces of junk mail do you receive daily?
I would say anywhere from 3 to 7 each day. It's such a waste of time and money.

7. Do you like to shop by catalog?
Well I use to all the time so yes but now I just go online to place the order.

8. Is lawn maintenance at your house a "his job," a "her job" or "his/her job" or "that's why we have teenagers" job?
I think we have gone through all of those scenarios! I use to love to do the lawn but then my asthma got the better of me. Then DH did it and then it was passed on to our son. Now we have a man who cuts our lawn. My husband does all the outside maintenance of the plants. I hose, I love to hose the patios. I always thought it would be cool to have a job (like at Disneyland) where I would hose all day :)

9. Which room would you like to redecorate in your home?
Well our home is only a few years old and I like my decorations. What we need is some color added to all the rooms.

10. Do you read a newspaper regularly, or do you read most of your news on line?
No and no. I honestly don't know much about world/local news. I do not read the paper and I don't watch the news. It saddens me so I gave it up years ago. Actually if something terrible is going on my dad will call me from Florida and tell me. I know it's not right but my own life overwhelms me and no news is good news! I do look at the weather on my google page because I don't like to go out when it's raining because I like a clean car.

11. Do you believe everything happens for a reason?
I do believe it is already written in the book of life however I do believe that prayer can change the outcome of things. I do know that I can recognize God's hands in my life and He has His reasons.

12. Are you more worried about doing things right, or doing the right things?
I would have to say doing the right things.

1. The thing I remember from my graduation is the fact that my parents thanked the principal! In front of me!!!

3. No weddings, no baby showers, there will probably be a funeral sometime soon if I believe my parents.

6. I receive so much junk mail, but it's my own fault: if I were to just put a NO-sticker on the letter box, most of it would stop coming!

Chuckling at #2! I've never thought to have something on hand in case a bird drops a bomb! So funny!

I never thought of keeping stuff in the car in case a bird drops a bomb, either! I think I'll be adding some paper towels and windex to the trunk.... Thanks! :-)

I do understand why you would not want to tackle the news each day...talk about stress.

But, I just can't help myself...

I just love #11

Funny about the news! I never turn my t.v. on during the day because if it's bad enough to know, someone will tell me!

once when hubs was in town her bought this WHOLE ELABORATE first aid kit, it had like 8 sizes of bandaids, neosporin, an emergency blanket, flashlight, new batteries, dried fruits, nuts, water bottles, w/p matches, a map, flares... and probabaly i'm missing something..

but he bought it for me, and it will forever stay in my car... though now when i see it i almost cry cause he thought i might need all that and it was sweet of him to think of it anyhow!

Wow! These questions are pretty deep and insightful. Great answers!

You might have some kind of attack if you saw my car, which gets a bath about once a year!

I loved getting to know you better.
You are a doll.

I agreed with so much of what you had to say. I am always kinda grateful when I don't have graduation open houses to attend. It's so expensive!!!!

Very interesting! I always learn so much about my blogging buddies when random questions come up!

Another great set of questions! I had never even heard of graduation open houses? My best memory of Grad is my Dad letting us borrow his Car to take to Prom :)

Love another great random dozen by you because I learn even more from you. It's hard to imagine all the junk mail we all get and say your numbers are consistent with everyone else that I have read that are participating in this!

I'm with you on the junk mail; it does seem like such a waste of money and time; seems like all we get these days is junk mail since I put a lot of our bills on paperless statements

good idea to keep a nebulizer with you because of your asthma; definitely something to keep handy at all times

I always enjoy reading people's answers to questions like these to learn more about them :)

Thanks for stopping by today. I enjoyed your Random Dozen. I'm with you on the news. I do check the headlines online, but we don't have TV. We got rid of it completely, not just because of the news, but all of it.

I'm the same way about the news. I have Panic Disorder and the news can really set me off. I used to listen to NPR because they don't do sensationalist stories involving local violence, which is what really sets me off, but lately I don't even listen to them.

I smiled when reading your answer to question #2. I brought a loaded gun once when I have to drive to the airport by myself at 4 in the morning and knowing I will drive at midnight coming back. It's a 2.5hr. drive each way....Christine

Debby,
On my graduation night, a good friend had a sleep over for all the girls - big party. The boys had a campout not far away. We all ended up at the football field in the dark...telling ghost stories...yeah, that's what we did... Enjoyed reading your answers.

In my house all the jobs are "her jobs" since I'm a single mom! Well, the kids do a little, but it mostly falls to me.

And I carry a flashlight, an umbrella, a can of fix-a-flat and a cork-screw as emergency items in my car.

You are so right about the power of prayer and it's ability to change things.

Great answers.
With my laptop down for the count I am so behind in all my blogs!

Blessings and have a great weekend!

I used to love browsing through catalogs. I used to circle the things I liked and would calculate how much it would cost to get it to my home and then I'd plan out where they would go. I rarely purchased anything that I circled but I sure enjoyed the wishing!
