I DID IT ~ I MADE THE PERFECT SHEET CAKE !

Thanks to Ree Drummond at Confessions of a Pioneer Woman and her cookbook ~The Pioneer Woman Cooks ~ I finally made a chocolate sheet cake that turned out perfect and was loved by all of us. OMG it is delicious! I am really loving her cookbook and if you don't have it I recommend you getting one.

Well here she is, my little girl Skye with her new haircut. She is not the poser she use to be, she turns her head away from the camera all the time now! Then Charlie wanted to get in on the fun. Doesn't she look so pretty with those bows in her hair. (Today I go for my haircut & color)

So this was Father's Day at our house. I didn't take many pictures. We had turkey, stuffing, green bean casserole, mashed potatoes, parmesan rolls, gravy, corn and of course that chocolate sheet cake I am so proud of. I also made Snicker Apple Salad that I saw over at Sonya's blog A Day in the Life.... but forgot to put it out. So I am working on it myself and it's very good. Skye and Charlie had a pool party, we played sequence, watched some golf and had a wonderful day.

Thanks for stopping over. My father is still not doing well. He is still dizzy with high blood pressure and can't walk without help. Actually yesterday morning he passed out and fell in the hospital. I plan to be going there soon but was waiting to see if he was going to go home so I could help him for awhile. We are concerned about maybe having to place him in a nursing home. Doesn't make sense when he was driving around a week ago and walking fine yet they are not finding anything wrong other then the BP and low sodium. I have a post coming up on Friday that I wrote before he went into the hospital. I'm not going to change it. He turns 87 on Friday. Thank you for all the prayers, I appreciate them very much.

I hope your father gets to go home soon. I know that must be very hard!

It looks like you all had a great Father's day, and the sheet cake looks delicious. I've played sequence; it's a fun game. Didn't know it existed until my mother-in-law introduced it to us.

I like the cookbook too. I'm going to check out the snicker apple salad though because that definitely sounds like something I'd like : )

Sorry your dad is still not better...distance makes things so much more difficult. I'll keep praying.

great looking cake! bet it tasted delicious too!! sounds like a nice scrumptious meal for Father's Day and what a great way you spent it with your husband/family

I am sorry about your dad; I look forward to reading your post about him later this week. I hope they can 'fine tune' him a bit in the hopsital so he can go back to being independent with living; I know it is hard to have to make the decision to put them in a nursing home or assisted living; hubby/brother had to recently work on this for their mom first and then dad (dad will be 87 Sept, mom turned 84 in January).

take care of yourself!! Skye looks adorable by the way :)

I like the pioneer woman, too! We have made several of her recipes. I got the cookbook for my sister for Christmas. I hate to hear that about your dad. My mama is almost 85... The writing is on the wall.

Is there any way you can get a 2nd opinion from another doctor, have his meds re-assessed? Like you say, it doesn't sound normal :(

** positive karma for your dad **

Skye is ravishing, the little camera tease... probably payback for not having any of that delicious cake! ha ha ;)

I know from personal experience, it is overwhelmingly sad to watch your parents’ health deteriorate and you are helpless to do anything about it. My heart goes out to you.
On a light note, I love the photos of the dogs in the pool, too cute.

Sorry to hear about your dad and his fall. Now for Skye. It is so funny how Skye would pose for the camera prior to the haircut, but will turn the head now. And now for the cake. You did awesome there my friend.

Debby, I'm so sorry your father is not doing well. I'll have y'all in my prayers. The chocolate cake is beautiful, and I bet I could eat the whole thing by myself! You sure are taking it in stride that you forgot to put something out for Father's Day. I'm so mad at myself when I do that. I've started making a list of what I cooked and checking my list before we eat a big family meal-I think that's called old age! how cute Skye and Charlie look, and I love that they had a "pool party"! laurie
