Okay, I'm just being silly. I'm in my family room taking the 800+ ornaments off my tree and packing them away for approximately 307 days. Yes siree bob, that is how many days it is until Thanksgiving in 2011.
I also got my calendars done, transferring all the birthday information and important dates into the new ones. (one for my purse) I always buy Suzy's Zoo each year, they just make me smile!
There is a new post today at Debby's Tree.
All my decorations got packed up last weekend, including my snowman trees and have been put away for safe keeping. I've been meaning to do the tree all week but when dusk hits and I turn the lights on all I want to do is stare at its beauty.
What was different this year is that when I put up my decorations it seemed to just drag on. I just couldn't seem to get organized and done. In packing these things up it was a breeze. Every little thing just packed up so easily, each container was so neat and organized. It was actually kind of strange. Usually I struggle getting everything to fit and it was like each item had a place just waiting for it.
I don't know if I have ever shared this with you but one year after Christmas I had gotten ill. All the hustle and bustle can really wear me down. So that year I didn't get my tree down until February 6th. So that is always my goal each year, no tree should ever be standing in my house after that day! Last year everything was down and packed away by the 23rd of January (yes I do mark it down on my calendar) so I am right on target and should be done with time to spare.

P.S. I want to thank everyone for all the birthday wishes yesterday for my son Adam :)

Good for you! I have to take my Snow Village down and get it put away this weekend. It is all across the top of my kitchen cabinets and my hubs did not want me climbing up there while he was out of town. He has been out of town for two weeks but will be home tonite-tomorrow's the day I guess : )
The things we go through for beauty and the love of our collections!! Ha Ha
I love putting stuff up but getting it all packed away again sometimes feels like torture. Glad everything seems to fit and the packing up is going smoothly:-)
Have a wonderful weekend!
feels good to meet your goals...
Hey Debby! It is quite a chore isn't it! I always get a few live trees & we always start to foget watering them about a week before Christmas so then by Christmas I am so ready for them to go becaue they start dropping needles like crazy :) Otherwise who knows how long I would keep those babies up! :) They are just so pretty!
Yesterday (or the day before:) I got your card to pass along to my in-laws! That is soooo sweet of you Debby! I didn't even open it :) My husband wil be seeing them tomorrow so I will make sure he gets it safely to them! I am just amazed at all the blessings God provides through the hard times. And YOU are a blessing!!! (I already knew that about you though:) I really am just so thankful for you & your sweetness so...thank you Debby!
I better get off the computer before the boys destroy the house! But I just wanted to make sure I stopped by to say thanks! Take care Debby & have a wonderful day! I just hope it it MUCH warmer in CA!!! -9 here today :)
good luck with all that stuff!
Hey girl... I just took mine down a couple weeks ago, but it has made it no further than the garage! yuk...hoping to tackle it this weekend!
Oh goodness, I'm not sure I'd want that job lol. I'd be tempted to leave it up all year long haha. Have a wonderful weekend!
Way to GO!!!! Getting all those down must have been hard. We had three trees up 5his year and finally got them all put away
Good luck getting all your ornaments down and put away. It's great to set goals...at least I know I have to otherwise nothing would get done!
good luck with all that packing.. though take breaks if you need to! never good to get tired over it...
have a wonderful wkend!!!!!!!!!!
it is great to have goals.. cute post.. I hope you have a great weekend..
I still have my ornament tree with my Swarvorski crystals on my dining table. I need to pack that all up but it's so pretty on the table. I also have my Christmas bouquets on the table. Right now I'm sick and don't care if it comes down or not.
i'm glad you seem to have the same joy putting christmas away as you do taking it out. your tree is beautiful… for the record our tree is still up in the house, but it's divested of it's ornamentation and lighting. i'm ready for it to be removed…
I thought I had all my Christmas stuff down and put away, but DD stopped by Wednesday morning and pointed out that I still had a couple of Christmas door hangers up. Ooops! ;-)
Have a FABULOUS weekend!
I took all my stuff down before New Year's and my husband and his mom got mad at me because she came down to watch Ethan for us on New Year's and was excited to see what our tree looked like.
I don't mind taking the tree down nearly as much as putting it up...but I don't have 300+ ornaments either! I'm scared to ask how long it takes.
You go girl! Have a great weekend!
If I lived near I would help you put it all away.
I probably used about a third of my Christmas decorations so I got them put up pretty quickly. I guess that was the silver lining to not having many decorations up. But that's normal for me ~ one year is all out and the next year, minimal decor...
I got a little sad looking at your post since I have been so out of the loop lately! I'm glad that you got everything put away though! I love how Halmark packs their ornaments in boxes! It is so easy to put them away! <3
Did you know that Carley (Names in the Sand) printed a calendar? She and Franchesca asked me to give a quote for September. I just got it in the mail and it is beautiful- but I must say I'm a little hesitant to write on it!
Glad you really 'are' there.
Hugs-
L
I do not envy you that task, but it sounds like it's going pretty smooth. My tree is still in my family room, but I put all the ornaments away a week or two ago.
Good Luck and have a good weekend !!
Oh I missed Adam's birthday. Belated Happy birthday, Adam! We just got back from a trip to Seattle....Christine
YAY! for getting the tree down. I find though that I want to keep it up longer becauses it takes the dull out of the winter. It makes the livingroom look cheery until the fake needles start falling.
Happy belated to your son
Ha! I took my Christmas tree down today, too!
If my tree looked like yours I wouldn't want to take it down either!
Usually by the 28th I'm ready to pack Christmas away. Sad, I know! But my daughter's birthday is 10 days after Christmas, so I just need a tiny break from decorations.
Debbie, I'm like you. I enjoying the trees so much, it is hard for me to let go of them! I guess I might eventually get tired of looking at them, but when I take them down, I'm still enjoying seeing them. It's a big job, but you're like me - it's so worth getting to take all of them out again next year. Hang in there. You're ahead of schedule! laurie
Some years things just go better backwards, at least it makes for good diversity!
You should have two houses, one for Only The Holidays so it stays decorated all year long, no need to pack everything up all the time.
What? One can dream! :-D
I'm with you on enjoying the tree for a while into January. I got mine down relatively early compared to other years. It seemed that the ornaments went back into the boxes better than last year.
It's good to be organized and have a goal! =D I seriously want to know how you store everything!
