Auld Lang Hodgepodge:
1. What three words would you use to describe 2010?
Protection from God.
2. If fear were not an issue what is something you'd like to try?
I would love to speak to a group of women or work with teenage girls.
3. What do you add to your coffee or tea?
I usually add a vanilla creamer.
4. What historical sporting event would you like to witness?
I'm not much into sports but I guess a Super Bowl would be fun, especially if the bears were playing in it! Now I know that each Super Bowl is historical when it's over but if your looking for something from the past I will say maybe the tennis match between Billy Jean King and Bobby Riggs. (This is what came to mind for me and I'm not even a tennis fan.)
5. What is one piece of advice you would like to give your sixteen year old self?
Don't ever let yourself get overweight, nip it in the bud each time you see those extra 10 pounds. Sorry but one piece of advice is not enough so I am adding one more, take care of your skin!
6. Are you a planner or do you prefer to fly by the seat of your pants?
Definitely a planner with many lists.
7. What is one thing you are looking forward to in 2011?
Reaching my goals of losing weight, simplifying my life/clutter and getting more exercise.
8. Insert your own random thought here.
I am trying to keep a journal of the special blessings I see in each day. Example: I wrote on 1/1/11 that I was thankful for the safety of my son & his girlfriend to and from Santa Cruz, CA for a New Year's trip. Right now it's in a draft email to myself but I would like to add to it each day or every few days.

Love your answers have a great Wednesday !!!! I love your goals.
Tea...sugar and lemon
coffee...never!
advice...make yourself happy first!
2010...slept through it
2011...get in gear!
I would love to see the Irish Hurling final in September some day. It's a fantastic sport I always watch when in Ireland. Like a mix between soccer, field hockey, lacrosse and rugby. Brilliant!
Great answers. Good luck with the weight loss goal. I know that it can be hard.
I thought about adding a Connors-McEnroe match to my list...tennis was more fun then I think. Sports were a little bit less 'marketed'.
Good luck with your goals for this year!
That's a great idea to keep a Blessings Journal. At one time I was going to keep a prayer journal but that went the way of the wild goose!
Loved your answers! Keeping a journal of your blessings sure gives a different perspective to things--I learned that through the "Giving Thanks Challenge".
Last night I browsed through the photos of your Christmas decorations(I'm still playing catch up) I sure wish I lived close to you, and could see everything in person! I love all things Christmas!!! You must have a very large storage place :)
I love all your answers, especially #1.
I would love to speak to a group of women, if fear wasn't an issue.
My hubby and son are into sports, so I watch it because they do.
Great advice for a 16 year old, wish I would have listened.
I like to make lists, yet sometimes it's fun to fly by the seat of my pants.
Have a Great day!
I kept a Thankfulness journal last year...and it was great! Took me a while to get into it and stop listing the same things over and over...but as it progressed it got deeper and deeper. I really thought about things...little, important things! Happy New Year!
I agree ... too difficult to limit #5 to just one answer. ha!
Good luck with #7 ... those are 3 difficult but exceptionally rewarding goals.
I love you Debby! I am blessed by your honesty and friendship.
great answers!
sorry i've been MIA... crazy round here!!
hope your holiday were fabulous!!!
I love the idea of your #8.
I think the journal is a GREAT idea :).
We're so the same with goals and our list :)
Gratitude journals are great! I gave one for my Great Auntie to write in when she was down adn I think it put things into perspective. Good luck with teh weight-loss. I am hoping to lose a bit, but also to help my mom in her weight-loss goals. I love the Biggest Loser show and am totally motivated- as for the decluttering- that is something that needs to be number 1 on my list!!
Happy New Year!
Hugs-
L
i can't drink coffee plain. blah!
I think a blessings journal is such a great idea that I might just have to steal it. What a good reminder to find something beautiful in life everyday, regardless of external circumstances.
#2 really resonated with me as public speaking is one of my worst fears. Anytime I have had to do it I get soooo sick! I would love to just not have any fear in this area!
Loved your answers.. I would love to go to the Super Bowl also.. I think you would be great talking to others.. Have a great night..
I'm a planner too and my lists have to be on paper, not online!
I'd love to go to a Super Bowl game. I have a heart for teenage woman too. Great advice. Thanks for sharing. Blessings, SusanD
Love your answers. Especially #8. That's a great idea and one I need to try. Trying my best to change that half empty glass into a half full one.
Keeping a journal is an excellent idea!
Ya, TAKE CARE OF YOUR SKIN! I love that one.
I love your answers and i can totally relate to the weight one.

Debby, I love the idea of a journal recording blessings. You've inspired me to also do that. Your goals for 2011sound like what my goals SHOULD be! laurie
Hey Sweet Debby!
Thank you for praying for my sister in law and her baby. Here is the latest update:
http://ordinaryinspirations.blogspot.com/2010/09/will-you-join-me-in-prayer-for-my.html
I loved readin' more about you sweetie. Let me tell ya, a grateful journal will change your life!!! Way back when Oprah challenged everyone to keep a gratefulness journal and write of five things every day you were grateful for. You begin lookin' for good things so you'll have the five to write and it just does wonders for your daily outlook. I've been doin' it for years!!! :o)
God bless you sweetie and have a glorious day!!!
I hope you get the chance to tackle that fear and work with teenage girls. They are so rewarding and it sounds like you would be a great influence!!
Great blog.
Great answers, Debby. I don't like to watch sports either except for gymnastics, that's cause my daughter ocmpeted for so many years. And hubby and I are trying to lose weight too...Christine
I like your answers you have for each question. Thanks for stopping in on my blog when you do.

loved ur answers i need to lose some weight blah its just so hard when theres all that exciting food out there
hope you had a great day..
That's a good one to tell your 16 year old self. I tell my girls that too...keep it off or, if you have it, take it off now before it gets out of hand!
I would like to speak with young moms about postpartum depression. I went through this and it was horrible. I feel it would be wonderful just because of what I went through, but there is the fear of speaking to crowds. I love the idea of keeping a journal. I may have to start this for my kids!
i love your answer to #5. what great advice and one that is so simple and smart! #7 i would have your same answers but a year from now i will still be answering it the same. i'm the great procrastinator!
They all sound good.. if I had a list number #7 would be on it. Trish
Great answers ... #7 is very close to home! Your journal idea is wonderful. I kept a gratitude journal once upon a time and it really helped me be more positive.
That is a great thing to tell your 16 year old self. I'd tell my self the same exact thing if I could go back.
Kristin - The Goat
You are so capable of doing what you listed for #2.
