We went to The Huntington Library, Art Collections and Botanical Gardens on Saturday. It is in San Marino, CA which is near Pasadena. Everyone knows about Pasadena and the Rose Bowl Parade, right? We knew we were going to meet for dinner but wanted to do something before that so we could spend more time together celebrating Adam's birthday. So we meet here which was about 1/2 way for each of us to drive. We had about 3 hours to walk around. Didn't get to see everything but what we saw we loved and the weather was absolutely beautiful.
When I saw the line up of statues I said "I bet this is where they filmed that scene from The Wedding Planner." Well I just looked it up and guess what, it is! (don't forget to click on the pictures to enlarge them)
Some unusual things in the greenhouse.
The Cherry blossoms were beautiful.
Oriental Gardens
We got to see one of Andy Warhol's pieces.
Loved the Frank Lloyd Wright furniture.
I love his home designs and was actually in one when I was in
High School, we were excited to see the chair from Riverside, IL.
That is were the house was that I have been in, a HS friend lived in one.
The armed chair was from Highland Park, IL.
Loved the dining room set and the
stained glass window too. I love mission style furniture.
A few statues and painting that I liked. I never got the names!
Then it was on to our pizza dinner at Casa Bianca Pizza Pie! It was delicious and we had a wonderful time enjoying each others company. They don't open until 4pm but they do take reservations. So Tristen called and made one for 4pm, they kind of laughed at her saying you do know we open at four indicating that she probably wouldn't need one. Well we got there at 4:10 and I think our table which was waiting for us was the only open table. When we left there was a long line of people who were waiting outside to get tables. So that tells you how good it was!

Love the peaceful settings with the benches.
Just look at the size of those bamboo stalks!

It looks like spring weather there, was it warm?
In reply to your question comment on Brad/Jen's wedding--if you are in Georgia on June 25, you are more than welcome to come and share my lonely pew. :<)and by the way...she changed her colors on Saturday--to blue and green! LOL
Loving your pictures. Just beautiful. Sounds like such a fun day.

Looks like a delightful weekend!
Love the pictures. Makes me long for spring around this desolate winter land!
Looks and sounds like you had a great time!
I would love to see some movie scene sites some day. We don't have that many films being made in the Netherlands and the ones that are, tend to get made in some Eastern European country because of the better (colder) weather!
You got it all done!! Good for you!!!
We found a rug this week, for what it's worth. Finally!
See you tomorrow!
Thanks for sharing the pictures.
They are amazing!
So glad you enjoyed the pizza and your time together.
Blessings!

Sounds like you all had a wonderful weekend. I'm here with -25 degree temps so seeing some Cherry Blossoms is a nice change:)
gorgeous! I love that movie - the wedding planner.
I can't believe you picked up on that it was filmed there. What a beautiful place!
You were so smart to make reservations like that!

I'm sad the decorations are down but I'm sure that will make everyone happy.
I'm loving all these pictures, what a fun and amazing place!
Oh how beautiful! One more place to add to my must visit list!
PS I got my Christmas decorations down too...but I keep finding the odd ornament here and there:)
Wow, those pictures are amazing!
Good thing you got those reservations!!! Loved the pics- makes me want to hop on a plane and come to California- I can't imagine no snow right now since we're covered in it and very cold! I love the Rose Bowl parade! Fond memories watching it growing up each New Year's day... (I come from a 'mixed' marriage- Dad from the University of Michigan- Mom Ohio State... HUGE rivalries- but it seemed like for a while one was always in the Rose Bowl!
Hugs-
L
Gorgeous! Congratulations on getting the decorations put up!
Sounds like you had a wonderful trip...I love all the pictures.
Wow, the food must have been realy good if they were already almost full at 4 PM. What a wonderful time you had! The garden is marvelous...Christine
How fun to see where they filmed that movie! It is a beautiful garden.
All of your pictures are so delightful.
I'm totally envious.......cuz it's about 10 degrees right now and I'm buried in snow!
You should have taken a picture of the pizza! Sounds soooo yummy!
That place is gorgeous! Sounds like a great time.
I especially loved seeing the blooms and furniture. What great pics you take. Glad you enjoyed it.
Sounds like you all had a wonderful time. So CA has gardens that are in bloom this time of year? We wanted to see the Botanical Garden in San Antonio, but we were warned it wasn't much to see this time of year.
As for the pizza...yeah. Be there the minute the doors open. Been there, done that!
I almost cried seeing all that gorgeous green - I'm in serious need for spring you've no idea!
Talk about inspiring, lovely, blissful. Thank you for sharing your day as beautifully as you did.
Inspiring!!
I'm going to have to put this on the itinerary the next time we are in Southern California. It looks like such a beautiful place!
And thanks for stopping by and entering my giveaway. Good luck!
Thanks for the great tour of your beautiful visit. I've always been intrigued by Frank Lloyd Wright's architecture style and pieces, and Warhol is Wright's artist brother, right? hehe Love the pictures and all the colorful blooms in CA, and I guess it's warm there, too. It's chilly here in NETex tonight. Peace and love, friend.
Sounds like a wonderful day and a great place to tour. We have Taliesin West here in Scottsdale and it's a great place to tour with all of Frank Lloyd Wright's beautiful buildings and furniture. Thank God you got your Christmas decorations stored away. How many tubs do you use? How do you store all of your amazing ornaments?
