TUEWENSDAY

Like that word! This is about my Tuesday and Wednesday this week. As you know I am on call for jury duty and didn't know if I could go to bowling on Tuesday. Well I didn't have to go in so I was able to go to bowling. Hooray!

Since I mentioned Skye in Wednesday's Hodgepodge and everyone was asking about her I thought I would do a post on her rather then type this several times in my return to the comment. For maybe three days Skye has been licking her paws obsessively. Not like her at all to do this. We looked at them but didn't see anything. On Monday evening Skye was acting funny. We ended up getting some pizza and she wouldn't eat any, not like her at all. My husband brought her into my office and said he didn't think she was well. The funny thing is that in some ways she was herself, in others she was acting like she was stoned! She would chase after her ball but would not pick it up. She loves that ball and it's in her mouth most of the time. She even falls asleep with it in her mouth.

So we decided that we didn't need the emergency evening vet. I didn't sleep at all that night, kept checking to see if she was breathing. She seemed better in the morning so I went to bowling. I didn't bowl very well my first two games but made up for it my last game. (99-113-189) Anyway I started getting very nervous about her and was so afraid that something may have happened to her when I was gone making myself feel real guilty for putting bowling before her. She actually greeted me when I got home, she took a treat and drank some water however she would not pick up her tennis ball. I decided to call the vet and we got in at 3:30pm.

At the vet, medication and resting comfortably.
She has a few spots on her tongue which the vet said comes from eating a poisonous plant. I told her we don't have any. I wondered if it could have been from a spider or her eating a lizard, bird or frog. (I think she got a lizard once) She said no, only from a plant. She also had a reed stuck in her paw which they got out. It was also a little infected. Now we do have one super tiny little bitty sago palm in our yard which is on the list of poisonous plants but Skye does not eat plants at all. Anyway she got an injection for her mouth pain and an injection of antibiotics. Then we also have four medications to give her for the next 10 days. (vet called to tell us that the blood work all looked good)

Here is what came to mind as I was driving home. Skye runs like a crazy person chasing birds, lizards and her ball. Doesn't matter what is in her way, she will knock down patio lights if necessary to get what she wants. So what if she got a reed in her paw from the little sago palm while she was chasing something over the weekend. Kept licking her paw because of it and ended up getting poisoned from it? That just may be what happened.

She is doing much better now which I am thankful for. As for me I have been a train wreck today. I slept good last night but the stress of yesterday must have gotten to me. I was watching Parenthood from Tuesday night on Wednesday morning and I cried through the whole show. I am not one to cry over TV shows. Buy the way, if your not watching Parenthood I suggest you watch the reruns over summer, it is so good! Something else that has been really good, better then I thought it would be, is Addicted to food on the OWN network. They have the best ways of getting to the heart of issues.

So these little cuties, which really didn't turn out like I wanted them too, were made late Monday evening to take to bowling for my friends with children. I couldn't make them until I knew I didn't have jury duty. I was having issues with melting the butterscotch chips and had to do another bag. My husband was watching a movie and getting very frustrated with me in the kitchen. He said "You had all day to do this, why did you wait until now?" I said "If you would have heard me when I explained it to you I couldn't make them until I knew about jury duty which I couldn't call on until after 7PM!" Here is the link from Totally Tutorials which will take you to another link.

Thank you for asking about Skye and I pray you have a blessed Easter.

Oh oh, poor little Skye! I'm so glad she is on the way to recovery. I'm sure it's been very stressful for you. I know how it is when our family members are not well. And with our furry friends it's even harder because they can't tell us what's wrong!

I'll bet that's exactly what happened ... the poison plant spot on her tongue was from the obsessive licking of her paw. Poor Skye ... so glad she's gotten treatment and should be back to normal soon. Give her a hug from me!

Poor Skye, I'm so glad she's ok! I bet your theory is exactly what happened.
Your treats look adorable!

Us mamas know our furbabies well. So glad that Skye is doing okay. The sago palm is poisonous? Looks like I need to scour my yard for poisonous leaves and trees.

Cute nests and yummy too.

Glad you took Skye to the vet and he was able to unravel the mystery for you. Good detective work yourself for realizing that she was licking her wound with the bit of palm in it. Hope she will be good as new in very short time.

So glad Skye is going to be OK, and you were right, maybe not an emergence but still needed to be seen. When ever the routine is changed, talk to the vet. Good MOM! What cute treats! How creative.

I am so behind on blogs, I'm so sorry to hear what you guys went through with poor little Skye - your theory about the paw licking seems like that's what happened, oh goodness! So glad she's better now!

Your peep nests are sweeter than sugar - and they taste better than jury duty too, I'm sure ;-)

Awww, hope Skye continues to get better. I know that was scary. It is so hard when they can't tell you wht they need. I think your explanation sounds right on.

That's a very good theory about running and getting the thorn stuck in her paw, then licking it! You're so clever!
I hope the pup makes a full recovery soonest.
As for the Peeps, so cute! This is like the third post I've read tonight with Peeps in it!

So glad Skye is better....it's horrible when they're sick and we don't know why! I think your theory is probably right.

Have a blessed Easter. We are enjoying being with our kids and grandson for Easter. They're even going to church with us on Sunday! PTL!

It's so hard to figure out what's wrong with our 4-legged babies when they can't really tell us anything. I had to take Miles to the vet last week because he was hopping around on 3 legs. Turns out he has a knee that pops in and out of the socket that will be something we deal with forever. He doesn't seem to be in pain, but will be racing along next to Louie and all of a sudden he's running on 3 legs. *sigh* So glad your Skye is okay!!!
