Hodgepodge Questions-Vol 44
1. What do you do at the first sign of a cold? Will you get a flu shot this year?
As soon as I get that first sign I know it will be in my lungs the next day. I often have to up my steroids and if that's not enough I need to get medication from the doctor. No I do not get flu shots. I had an allergy doctor many years ago who told me I should not get them. I know I am in the group who should but I seldom get the flu.
2. What advice can you give about how to conquer fear?
It depends on the fear but I would suggest putting your trust in God. If the fear is keeping you at home keeping you from living your life then you need to seek medical help.
3. Share two good things about your life right now.
(1)The fact that both of our children have grown into wonderful adults, are our friends and that they both have people in their lives who love them. (2) The fact that the people in my life whom I love dearly are all currently healthy.
4. A hot fall fashion trend in 2011 is a return to sixties style...tunics with pants, shift dresses, pencil skirts, cinched waists, bold prints, high necklines and short lengths to name a few. How does this fashion trend fit with your wardrobe and personal sense of style?
It doesn't fit in at all for me. I do not have the body to wear these things. I do at times wear a long tunic with pants but that's about it.
5. Were you involved in scouting as a kid? How about as an adult?
Yes I was a girl scout. No I haven't been involved as an adult.
6. Apple, pear, plum, pumpkin...your favorite fall flavor?
Pumpkin! But I love them all.
7. What characteristics do you think are essential in a good teacher?
Compassion and patience.
8. Insert your own random thought here.
Well tonight is the Big Brother season finale. I am actually going out most of the day, visiting with a dear friend and her children, so I don't have to be a big ball of nervousness all day! I absolutely love this show, have followed for all of the seasons. I am always sad when it ends and I will also miss my three hours that I tape each night on Showtime called After Dark. That is when you really get to know them. I usually watch it in the morning while I blog.

Do you know, I don't think I ever had pumpkin. At least not that I can recall! I must rectify that soon. And apples just don't do it for me. Unless they're turned into apple pie or apple sauce or even apple jelly (on toast, yum).
I love them all as well but picked pumpkin also. Great answers.
I've never been a huge fan of Big Brother. In the UK it ran 24/7 (their version) and some people would watch them sleep. I didn't get it. Maybe that's why I never got into it here.
Hope you have a great day!
I like your answer to #3. Those are definitely good things. ;-)
Hi!
I'm the same with fashion. I wear what's comfy and love Pumpkin Pie. Have a great day!

i never get the flu shot either..
have fun visiting today!!!
I so love pumpkin.. Fear is hard to get over but at times I have gotten over a few of them..
Have a great day today..
Yeah for BB tonight..
I cannot wait to start baking pumpkin treats, I love EVERYTHING pumpkin. I say if you fear something try it, you never know if you'll like it. My husband hates roller coasters well heights actually. I dragged him on one here, ye he still hated it but said it wasn't too bad. However, you will never get me to touch or go near a snake or find me in the woods unless hubs is with me.
I am suppose to get the flu shot, but I do not.
Any excuse not to get a shot is fine with me.
Great answers!
I especially like #3
Hope your having a good day with your friend and her children.
I love them all as well! Part of me hates this time of year because of all the goodies and I shouldn't eat sugar (it causes me to pass out.)
ps. I dont even know what big brother is...
I'm glad you reminded me the finale was tonight. I didn't remember that!
I love pumpkin too!
One time I will have to watch the after dark it may help me get back into the show, I couldn't get into it this year.
Best characteristics, that you yourself have! :)
I'm ready to see who the winner of Big Brother is going to be. I'm thinking Rachael is the most deserving player...
I think we answered #7 the same way! I watched Big Brother when it first came on and tried to watch it at the beginning of this season. CH calls it "Big BOTHER"! :D
Pumpkin fan here---love the smell! Enjoyed reading.
I am not really a fan of "Big Brother" but my most favorite show, "Survivor" started tonight :)
Great answers and I am so going to miss big brother and after dark. Tonight another favorite came on survivor...it'll have to take the place of big brother. Trish
Great answers! We get our flu shots every year usually at the end of Sept. Hugs P.S>I'm having my very first blog hop today Please stop by and link up your lovely blog.
I get flu shots I get them free and I've been fine so why not lol.. I was in girl scouts and I found out my girl scout leader worked as an ER nurse cause I was running and fell on my head and went blind for a short period of time and she was the nurse that day haha
I don't really watch big brother but my brother really loves it!! I will say are u going to watch big brother little brother lol I don't like that one girl rachel? annoying voice and mean?
I get flu shots, and at the first inkling of a cold,I start popping Zicam... usually helps!
i get me and G flu shots because of daycare.
I'm a firm believer that if you were alive the FIRST time something was in style, you're not required to wear it when it comes BACK in style - so I'm skipping the entire 60's fad (even if I was just a child the first time around).
Hello again - thanks for stopping by my blog. (-:
Your dog does resemble Toto. (-:
PS: I love pumpkin.
I love pumpkin!
I went to one girl scout meeting and the scout leader was so mean that I never went back.
You are so blessed that your children are your friends!!!
I've been out of the loop the last few days and am trying to catch up, but it's hard! Mama hasn't been herself so I've been there a lot!
I think I will get a flu shot this year.
I'm with you about putting trust in God; that's always the best thing to do if anxious, fearful, etc.
betty
I don't get flu shots either and I often get the flu around the Christmas holidays every 4 years or so, cause I tend to overwork myself without realizing it and I never get enough rest...Christine
I have always gotten a flu shot, but never did last year because I got lazy. Fortunately, I never got it! My husband thinks the shot makes him sick, so he doesn't get it, but I always make sure my daughters get their shots when they are supposed to. I'd much rather be sick than have them get sick!
i love bb as well! what did you think of the finale? i was excited that rachel won.
I'm a worrier Debby - I never get the flu shot because I am afraid it will give me the flu - ha ha!!
I'm supposed to get a flu shot too because my husband is immune suppressed (so I should do everything possible to NOT get sick) but I haven't gotten the flu since I was a kid. I'm playing the odds.
I only watched a few Big Brother episodes this summer. I was on my road trip when it started so I was kind of out of the loop right away. I'll have to find out who won though.
