1. Have you ever been 'asked' to report for jury duty? Were you chosen to serve? If not, were you happy or disappointed?
Yes I get asked almost every year. Yes I was chosen once about 10 years ago. I thought it was very interesting.
2. On a scale of 1-10 (with 10 being very), how mechanically inclined are you? Give an example to back up your answer.
So are you talking about cars, then I am maybe a 2. But I am really good at other things like setting up things like a VCR, DVD stuff, DVR stuff or putting things together like a BBQ grill, etc.
3. Beets-cabbage-cauliflower-butternut squash....of the four, which is your favorite fall vegetable?
I will say cauliflower.
4. What do you recommend to overcome self-pity?
Maybe a good therapist.
5. Do you enjoy classical music?
Not very much. I am more of a smooth jazz person.
6. October is National Book Month...what's on your reading list this month?
I am currently reading Happy Birthday by Danielle Steel.
7. What is your idea of 'cute'?
Usually a baby or a sweet little puppy.
8. Insert your own random thought here.
Had a nice time in Las Vegas. Did some gambling. Had a wonderful dinner at Carnevinos at the Palazzo. (Partners chef Mario Batali and winemaker Joe Bastianich) We stayed at the Venition. Actually we were so tired after dinner that we ended up going to the room to sleep. (too much wine) So I got up early Tuesday morning, showered and was downstairs gambling around 7am. I actually won 1000 quarters which is $250. so I ended up even going home. I love when you can go and bring your money back home with me. Doesn't happen very often. Then we went to have pizza at Aurelio's away from the strip which is one of our favorite thin crust pizzas in Chicago. (We love that they opened one in Vegas) That was a great treat. Then we stopped at an outlet mall. Mark needed a few things for a golf trip he is flying to on Thursday. He got a few Tommy Bahama shirts and some Tommy Hilfiger shorts. He meets up with his college friend for 4 days of golf. So I am home and will try to get caught up on reading your posts.

I've never been into gambling but I'm glad you had fun and got to bring money home. I can not understand the DVR or any of those things. Give me a seeing machine any day!
I've never been to LV. It is on my list though. Enjoy your catch up time : )
I have never been called to Jury duty, however I just had to sign some paper for it, so maybe my time is coming. I do not like any of those vegetables. Las Vegas is on our list to do some day!
I've had jury duty, but never had to go because everything always settled out of court. *phew* (I was nervous about it!)
Cabbage is a recent favorite of mine. Rich's grandma sent us cabbage from her garden a year or 2 ago and I had to figure out how to use it up (thinking I wouldn't like it.) Turns out it's AWESOME just cooked up with a little butter salt and pepper! Grew it myself this year and have been eating it almost every night with dinner! :-)
That is crazy that you live in California and with such a huge population you get called for Jury duty every year.
I have only been called once in my life and I never even had to go in.
I think it would be fun to serve as a juror at least once!
So glad you had fun in Vegas!
How cool that you broke even and didn't lose money!!! :o)
Good job breaking even. I love the glitz of Vegas, Reno, Atlantic City...don't like the gambling aspect of it.
Dinner at Carnevinos sounds wonderful! And breaking even on the gambling - even better. Glad you had such a great getaway.
A good therapist had me laughing. (I hope I'm not offending anyone.)
Glad Vegas was fun and fruitful!
We won all 4 games yesterday! I bowled a 189 (won side pot), a 196, and a 145. Shot my average out of the water! Oh, and some drama that I'll tell you about privately.
xo
I am definitely in agreement with you about babies and puppies being your idea of "cute"...if they could only stay small forever!
So how come you get asked every year and I can't even get asked once? I'm feeling like a homely girl at the dance here. :/
Glad you had a good time in Vegas. I'd love to go back someday.I'm with you on the mechanically inclined stuff.
happy vegas was fun!!!
I just got asked for jury duty for the first time ever!
Your Las Vegas trip sounds divine! We took a look inside the Venetian last time we were there, and we decided that will be our next hotel on the strip.
What an amazing life you lead!
So glad you had a fun trip to Vegas--and that you brought home money instead of leaving it :)
Hi Debby!
I have been asked twice to report for jury duty. But never had to serve. I wonder how they decide who is going to serve.
Babies and little puppies are so cute.
yay for winning money!!
pizza pizza pizza haha
glad u had fun!
Never got to serve on a jury. Love all the squash family. When you are in a self pity mood force yourself to call someone who is Christ centered and can listen without advising.

love your number 3 answer.. I am glad you had a fun time in Vegas.. Have a great day..
Glad Vegas was fun!!
Hi mrs Debby, I have a blog award for you :)
http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w109/R3n3339/Blog%20Awards/2.jpg
I Love Danielle Steel I don't think I have that one. I'll have to see if I can download to the iPad.
Glad you had a fun in Vegas. Oh man jealous of the dinner!! Way to go on the win!
Have fun while Mark is away, hope you enjoy yourself :)
Danielle Steel is one of my favorite authors. Enjoy catching up on things.
Glad to hear you had a good time in Las Vegas, Debby, and came back even-steven! I like Danielle Steele's books, they are easy reads (meaning you can take them anywhere and read a few minutes here and there, read, watch the kids, etc. In fact I read one of them while I was waiting six weeks ago when I got called for jury duty. Reported in, waited three hours, then they sent us all home.
Hot down here, hot up there?
betty
I've been called for jury duty several times, but not in years. Once I was in the jury pool for a woman who killed her husband. Shot him 7 times in his sleep....said he was abusive....I said I'm sorry, but I could never find a woman guilty of killing her abusive husband, even in his sleep....that's probably the only time she could do it! (was an abused wife in another life).....I didn't serve on that one, wonder why???
:)
The one and only time I went to LV was with my husband who was my fiancé at the time. He gave me $500.....which might as well have been 5 million to me at the time. I doubled it and quit! I went home with $1,000. Thought i was rich. Never gambled again! :)
I knew not to push that luck!
So glad that you had a good time ... and that you actually brought home some money! ;-)
I love your new look here at you blog! Gorgeous!
Blogger was being a pain yesterday so I didn't get to comment- BUT I am here today! LOL
Glad you had a good time and came back with your money! Smooth jazz does the soul good, doesn't it? I picked little ones and puppies for my #7 too!
oooh vegas sounds fun. yay for not losing all your money. i'm so not mechanically inclined.
I once had a bunch of little girls in the front of the coach going over every little cute animal there was: puppies, baby rabbits, kittens, you get the drift. And then I asked them: Do you know what I think is really cute? A little baby person! And all those girls were just oohing and aahing even more. The sound of those girls was as cute as those puppies, baby rabbits, kittens and baby persons!
So glad you had a good time !!
Mechanically inclined...that's funny.
So glad you had a good time in Vegas.
The pizza sounds divine!
I didn't know Danielle Steel had a new one out. They're basically all the same to me, but I still enjoy reading them!
I did jury duty once - two trials. It was interesting. I am more mechanically inclined than I'd have guessed - remodeling has taught me a lot. Cauliflower I'll eat, but it's fairly bland. Cabbage I can take or leave. I love butternut squash soup and also love beets.
