Mmm...apple pie and ice cream...mmm...yum. (Sorry, you lost me for a minute!)
I think you should decorate less and see if anybody notices. It would be a great experiment -- and maybe then somebody would help pick up the slack?
Good luck!
Our tree is up, the nativities are up, and even the Christmas village is this year. Hopefully the outside will get decorated this week too.
LOVE it !!!
Lack of appreciation and help is one of my biggest gripes around my household! If I don't do it, it doesn't get done. It's frustrating!
I am ditzy enough these days, so your Post It Note TUESDAY had me thinking I missed another day. Ha. Not so. Happy Monday.
Wanting to be appreciated is not being a crabby old lady. I think you should decorate however much you want to and enjoy the finished product to the max.
u can't have apple pie without icecream! lol
I feel the same way.. I have to say don't eat this or it will be gone! I also feel u on the family appreciation thing.. I do everything aroun here and no one helps or notices lol
there would be no Christmas without u and ur tree! :D
hope ur week gets better!!
I understand how you feel COMPLETELY! If not for me, there'd be no Christmas around here, either....and yes, they notice if I cut back on anything and complain mightily, but it doesn't make them pitch in. Grrrr.
I too understand and agree with you 100% and I am 58 - so it is nothing with age - other then we are getting smarter and questioning whether what we have been doing - the same for years - is really worth it.
Why not take a Christmas off - send your hubby for a half gallon of vanilla ice cream - play Christmas music for joy - watch your tv shows - throw away the old bulbs and buy new ones - do something nice for you!
Love, sandie
I think you sound totally normal. I don't want to decorate either, it's too stinkin' much work.
Love it .
So glad the kids are getting older they decorated the tree most of it. Glad most of it is done.
Have fun
I understand just what you mean. I can not put up my 12 foot tree by myself and no one will help me get it out of the garage. So, until they do...no Christmas tree! But, I will do the table and the mantle...I like those best anyway. Oh, and I will put up Levi's little tree!
Awww big hugs. I don't think my family would decorate if I didn't make them. Just smile that's all you can do:)
Maybe a "decorate a tree party" for others to help you? Could serve some pizza with it? They do love and appreciate you, they just know that you have always come through so they expect you to come through again! But it is hard to get it all done, especially with how much effort you put into your tree and Christmas!
I could lend you my son; I told him I'm not putting up a tree this year and he said "you have to have a tree, I'll come down and put one up for you". And he lives closer to you than me.
betty
I'm only 49, and i feel the same way about not being appreciated!
I completely get the whole ice cream and pie thing! Ice cream doesn't stay around very long around here!
My husband feels your pain!!!!! I said no tree this year as there will be no little ones here. I've put out the Santas and the Nativity and a little lighted tree on the porch and I'm done! I said no stockings because I haven't gotten one for my new dil and youngest said WHAT???? :)
So I'm sure husband will put up the tree and I'll have to decorate....bah humbug!
I love your post it notes...I understand the feeling of not being appreciated....happens here too...
Ah! I know how you feel.... Z AGAIN told me that I was not a good mom (and thankfully later apologized... I know there will come a day when he doesn't apologize and still says that). I have a friend who isn't putting up a tree this year! Her boys 11 and 13 and husband all decided not to because it was so much work and hockey consumes their life... I do wonder if they'll break down... <3
Hang in there friend! Your blog followers want to see your decorations!!! ;-)
you rock and I love you too. Your family would miss all of that fun stuff.. I love your trees you do..
The thing you have to remember is that you want to decorate and you want the Christmas Spirit. If you want it, then it's OK that you are doing it. It would be nice if others helped, but the JOY of it must be in you. My husband wouldn't think of helping with Christmas decorations, so I do it for me.
I wrote this on my Facebook status the other day - it came from The Secret in my email that day.
"Happiness is a state of being, and comes from the inside of you. By the law of attraction you must become on the inside what you want on the outside. You are either choosing to be happy now, or you are making up excuses for not choosing to be happy. But there are no excuses for the law!"
I'm just sharing the message. It helped me the other day.
You don't sound bitter at all. I have that talk with the boys all the time to be grateful what we have. Somedays I just want to scream!!
