1. What song reminds you of a specific time in your life and what is it about that song that makes you remember?
Summer In The City by The Lovin'Spoonful. I remember a warm evening in the summer walking around the Oak Brook Mall with some really cute guys just having a fun time! It had been playing on the radio.
Hot town, summer in the city
Back of my neck getting dirty and gritty
Been down, isn't it a pity
Doesn't seem to be a shadow in the city
2. What's something you've given up on?
Trying to fix some people.
3. What's something you'll never give up on?
My children and God.
4. If you had to cook something from scratch in the next hour what would it be?
It would most likely be a cake or cookies. I could also put some spaghetti together.
5. Have you started Christmas shopping? Decorating? Listening to Christmas music?
Yes I have a few gifts already. Hope to get my tree up this weekend so I can start to decorate. Yes I am listening to Christmas music every chance I get!
6. What do you know about your parent's wedding?
I know it was in a little church and it was a candlelight service. I know that my grandmother, from a window at their home, yelled down to my father that it was time for him to take a bath and get ready for his wedding. He was washing his car! I also know that most of the gifts were $5. or maybe $10., I have the register that they wrote it in. I also have the little bible my mother carried and a handkerchief that belonged to my dad that she also carried. I carried them when I got remarried to my husband in 1989.
7. I can't believe I ___________________.
Turned sixty this year! Never saw it coming!
8. Insert your own random thought here.
1 bag frozen hash-brown potatoes…(30 oz. bag)- I use cubed!
2 cans chicken broth…(14 oz can)
1 can cream of chicken soup…(10.75 oz. can)
1/2 cup chopped onion - I use flakes!
1/3 t. ground black pepper
1 pkg cream cheese….softened…(8 oz.)
In a 6 quart electric slow cooker, combine potatoes, broth, soup, onion, and pepper. Cover, and cook on low for 5 hours. Then, stir in cream cheese…and cook for 30 more minutes…stir occasionally until combined. If you desire grated cheese or crumbled bacon. that’s OK, too! Serves 4

I'm so glad you said that about turning 60! I just turned 40 and felt the same way!
Best wishes,
Natasha.
Mmm...that soup sounds so DE-LISH! I am in total agreement with you on #'s 2 and 3!
Yup, those years sure do add up fast! It's amazes me how fast time flies. I use to think time moved slowly...If only. Nice recipes.
I've been trying to think of a song to post for Hodge Podge this week...but I can only come up with Christmas songs! LOL
I've given up on trying to fix people too. I think I've come to realize that they have to figure it out by themselves...so they can own it I guess.
I totally jealous that you already have some presents. I haven't done a darn thing! We're still working on the room that was supposed to take a day to paint. It's been 6. UGH!
I have the very same answer for 1-3 - we have a LOT in common.
I love potato soup too. And I would rather bake then cook. My Christmas shopping is done. My parents eloped!
Nice to hear some information about you - glad to know you better.

That soup recipe sounds DELICIOUS! And EASY! Which would make it a winner in my book! ;-)
I agree with you on #2 & #3. And Summer in the City brings back memories to me, too!
love ur answers! I must be the only one that hasn't started early or heard any Christmas music!
What neat things to know about your parents' wedding. I love stuff like that.
60? I never would have guessed it. :)
I think I'm going to have to try this soup this weekend while it's cold again.
I've made enough from scratch lately-I'm taking a break til Thanksgiving ;-) Cake does sound good though! :-)
We've started on the Christmas movies, music and shopping too. Decorating will wait until we get a tree. We don't have nearly as much to do as you do though! :-)
Isn't amazing how a somg can take you back?
..and I have to come back and print of that soup reciepe. Sounds delish!
Your recipe sounds absolutely amazing! And I'm not sure I know of anyone who loves Christmas more than you!
That's so neat that you have those things from your parents wedding!
The potato soup does sound delicious :)
I absolutely love potato soup! How cool that you have those details from your parents' wedding day!
I am loving this cold soupy time weather! I always put the bacon and cheese right in my coup. Maybe I will try serving it with next time.
turning 50 in March...doesn't seem possible...Mustang Sally...reminds me of my Mom driving her red 1965 mustang...me wanting her to drive a station wagon like all the other Moms...
I'm right behind you with those birthdays! And I'm wondering where all the years went too!
I know nothing of my parents wedding except my dad wore a yellow jacket lol. Crock pot recipes are the best, I'll be posting my baked potato soup recipe soon, love soup recipes!
Thanks for the recipe. Time does sure seem to fly as we get older.
I like that potato soup recipe, Debby; thanks for posting it! How neat that you have the Bible and handkerchief from your mom/dad's wedding day and that you used it in your remarriage! That was definitely the something old! (I'm not calling you old, LOL)
betty

Hello,
I have a potato soup recipe that I substituted Country Style Hash Browns for the potatoes and I thought I was being original...ha
You said you liked corn bread...being in California, I was surprised. Are you a transplant from the South...
We had Spaghetti for dinner, only I used bottle sauce I purchased at half price instead of making it from scratch...
Blessings,
Mama Bear
I love "Summer in the City"! I remember singing along while it played on the radio that summer. I was 12 or 13 at the time...and life was so good! LOL
The potato soup recipe sounds good (and easy). I'm printing it for future reference!
Glad to know someone else is already in the Christmas spirit. Can't wait to get the decorations out.
The potato soup sounds wonderful. Gonna try it this week.
Oh, I love that song...it has lots of memories for me too! It was popular the summer that Tom and I started our courtship. Lol.
Ohh...I will be making that soup very soon since it has turned cold here in Michigan,
~Blessings
I am going to try to do that soup for sure.. It sure sounds yummy. 60 rocks..
Now I'll be singing Summer In The City for who knows how long! :) And oh, yes, that soup sounds wonderful, I'll have to try it!
I just had to hop back over to let you know that I cooked the Potato Soup tonight. Ed really loved it!
I love that song!
And your potato soup sounds just right for a cold day. Yum!
Hi Debby...every time I come here and see your little pups on the sidebar I want to squish them....they're just so cute. and your answers every week make me know you more. I love that. You've started Christmas shopping??? Way to go..and the potato soup sounds perfect for this cold weather
I just came over from another blogger who shared your potato soup recipe and I wanted to thank you for sharing it! My husband loves potato soup but I don't make it often because it can be such a hassle but this recipe sounds completely manageable!! Love my crockpot!!!
It's a disease really - the disease to fix people. I have that one, too!
If I had to make something right now, it'd be a meatloaf. I love my meatloaf :)
I loved reading about your parents wedding. I always find things like that so fascinating!
Thank you for sharing the potato soup recipe, sounds yummy! Did you use a half cup of onion flakes? I would prefer to not put actual onion in the soup since my husband most likely won't eat it that way. I was wondering if I could get away with onion powder, but haven't a clue how much I would put...so I was wondering how much of the onion flakes you put in yours.
MUAH love ya for the shout out!
We are so alike I have a bunch of my shopping done, and hope to be done by this Friday :).
I can't wait for more Christmas music to come!
