Head on over to Joyce's blog to join in.
Thanks for the questions Joyce!
1. The NFL playoffs were held this past weekend and this year's Superbowl lineup will feature The New York Giants versus The New England Patriots. How do you define 'patriot'?
I'm not sure, I guess it's how someone feels about their country. So this is what the dictionary said "1. A person who vigorously supports their country and is prepared to defend it against enemies or detractors." So I was kinda right!
2. What's something in your life right now that feels like a 'giant'?
I would guess it is some clutter. Nothing bad, nothing that you can see but things that need some really good cleaning out. Clutter can choke you, like the giant is sitting on your throat!
3. What's the first thing that comes to mind when you think back to being 18?
Being in love!
4. Coconut-mashed potatoes-vanilla ice cream-mayonnaise...which white food would be the hardest to give up?
I will say ice cream but none of them have a huge hold on me.
5. Describe an incident or a day you remember as the coldest you've ever experienced?
Nothing specific is coming to mind but I avoid being cold at all costs. Sledding, ice skating, skiing, etc. I would always be freezing no matter how many items I had on! We did go off the road in a ditch in an very isolated area in Nebraska back in the 70's while we were on a trip. (I was driving) That could have turned into something really bad but we were fortunate that someone did come by after several hours.
6. You're hosting a brunch...what's your favorite dish to prepare and serve?
Really Joyce? You want me to cook for a brunch. Actually I have never had a brunch to cook for but I guess I could whip together a breakfast casserole.
7. How do you combat negative thinking?
Reminding myself about all the things in life that I am thankful for. Then I proceed to thank God for all of them.
8. Insert your own random thought here.
I'm excited about the 84th Academy Awards on Sunday February 26th. The next few weeks I am going to try to see some of the movies I haven't seen yet. It's one of my favorite nights of the year! You can click here to see the nominations.

I turn to God as well when things gets hard. I've not seen most of the movies that are on the list. I don't do movies a lot.
I like your answer to #7. If we focus on thankfulness, it's hard to be negative. ;-)
#7 can be hard to combat, but it reads like you have a great solution to it!
Number 7 was my favorite answer and so true. I forget it sometimes...so thank you for the reminder. Have a great week.
I enjoyed your answers. I don't do brunch either, and definitely need to de-clutter a bit.
I used to be a fan of the Academy Awards, and watched faithfully. For the past few years I've sort of lost track of movies and stopped watching. The gowns are always so interesting though!
I'm not fond of any of those "white foods" either so would also choose ice cream. I'm thrilled about the Academy awards as well!
Wow, that's a scary thing, being stranded in a ditch like that! At 18 I was off to college but the main thing is wanting to be 21. I still wish I was 21. LOL
ice cream would be very hard for me to let go too!!
have a great day!
Great answer for #7.
I think I'm going to follow your lead and see some of the nominated movies too. I saw The Help and War Horse, but that's it so far.
I'd have a terrible time giving up potatoes!
I hate clutter, I definetly could never be a hoarder. lol Great answers as always. I've been out of the loop lately but I love your background.
I think having a grateful heart gives negativity a huge kick in the hiney!
Breakfast casserole, YUM!
In the 70s, not cell phones! I can imagine it was a very scary few hours!
Hi Debby! My favorite party to host is brunch. I think it is the easiest and I like to make Belgian waffles...Christine
I have always felt brunch is an easy meal to host. I just do fresh fruit and several kinds of quiche which I make the night before. I think I would have to keep the mayo as that is the only thing I like on sandwiches.
Oh Debby - I am so far behind in my cleaning and organizing too and I just have lost my mojo for do it! sandie
i like to watch the awards too...i always like it when they do the tribute for the actors/actresses/directors who have passed in the previous year
i just won a book about 'organizing'...i'm eager to get it and see what i can get done around here
Great answer to #7. Excited about watching the awards, also.
GREAT questions and FABULOUS answers! i could give up any of the white foods but i would miss vanilla ice cream, a little bit!
followed you from DysFUNctional mom...and now i want a cupcake :)
I'm not sure where I'll be that day (or night as is the case over here), but I will try and catch it for the dresses!
I like to try and see the nominated movies too. I saw The Descendants which is up for a lot of awards. I'll see anything with George in it : ) Have a great day!
Oh boy, I love mashed potatoes - those would be the hardest for me!
I totally understand what you mean about clutter! It seems that when God was passing out the gift of organization....he forgot to give it to me ;)
Great advice on negative thinking!! :)
I so forgot about the Awards, I have to so watch!
Oh yes clutter so can be a killer!
Thanks for worring about me I so need get to the doctor :( ugh
Giving up ice cream would hurt real bad.....And I can so relate to what you said about clutter. I give stuff away just to avoid clutter. have a great rest of the week and love reading your answers as always.. it really makes me feel like I know you
I am such a potato person...french fries, mashed potatoes, potato skins..I don't know how I'd get by without it.
I also like your answer to negative thinking.
Great answers, but I can't even imagine giving up ice cream!
I didn't realize the Academy Awards were so soon. I need to start watching some movies!
I'm super excited about the Academy Awards too! I really hope The Help wins!!!
Your memory of being age 18 is awesome.
Clutter is choking me right now. Please make it stop.
the coldest I ever was was right after it snowed I walked down to the beach. It was beautiful. But when I tried to return to the house, I was walking against the wind, and all the snow was flying into my face. I was freezing and didn't think I would make it home.
Debby, I can so relate to your comment about clutter. When I get things around the house straightened up, I feel like a weight has been lifted from my shoulders. I'm not feeling that way right now though. Our local Hallmark had a going out of busines sale - everything 50% off. My holiday closet is bulging! Fortunately, someone has bought the store, and it will remain open. laurie
