This post isn't actually about Las Vegas but I thought I would share a few photos. I never bring a camera so these are just from my phone. Living in California, 233 miles from Vegas, we get ads on TV all the time for hotels. This one seems to be shown often and I think it is pretty weird so I thought I would share it with you in case you haven't seen it!
We entered on the West side of the Hotel and in the lobby are these huge pillars that light up. Maybe every 10 minutes the pictures will change. They are always moving and really beautiful! That was the entry to our set of elevators to the 56th floor. I had this desire to have Mark video me doing something silly in the elevator like the commercial but I never had the nerve.
The room was wonderful and the main reason I am showing it to you is because of the shower. You see that view from the bathroom looking at the beds. Well you can actually watch someone take a shower if your into that. (maybe 40 years ago that would have been fun!) Thankfully there is a very nice thick shade that you can draw for privacy....
In the shopping area there is a clothing, etc. store and the entire window areas which went on forever had nothing but antique sewing machines hanging in them. It was amazing.
We actually had a very nice time. We ate at the STK restaurant and the meal was delicious. Would love to have the opportunity to try several other ones at the Cosmopolitan. This was Mark's second time staying there and I think it's his new favorite. I think that may be because he always comes home a winner from the tables! Truthfully I enjoyed the casino a lot and hope to go back soon. I will be in Vegas again in June with my bowling league but I will be staying at The Orleans which is off the strip. It's where we bowl and it's just super convenient. Have stayed there many times and it has everything I need for a fun weekend. Amber usually goes with me for a yearly girl weekend.
As you know I didn't feel well when we left. Woke up with that miserable cold on Monday and pushed myself to bowling on Tuesday. When I got home from bowling I packed my bag and spent the rest of the day on the sofa. Never slept that night, tossed and turned with a never ending running nose with added sneezing fits! Wednesday was most likely the worst day of this cold. My nose never stopped running and the more drugs I took the worse I got. Being a die hard keno player (machine) I sat and played for hours when I should have just but upstairs sleeping. When I finally did get upstairs to sleep around 9pm I watched TV until about 11pm. Turned the TV to music, smooth jazz, and tucked myself in. Did I sleep? NO! I could not sleep. I bet I ended up sleeping 3 hours Wednesday night.
I got up, showered, got dressed and went downstairs to gamble around 9am. As you know I was fighting tooth and nail to keep this cold out of my COPD lungs. Thursday was awesome. I woke up feeling wonderful. Nose stopped running and I had absolutely no breathing issues. Hooray, I win! I was on top of my game. We had a nice drive to and from Vegas. Chalk it up as a great trip even with the cold!
Screaming...... No I don't lose some, I lose them all. Wake up Friday morning and it's in my lungs. No frickin way! Don't get me wrong, I am so thankful to God for all that he has given me for my entire life. I have nothing to ever complain about. I know things can be worse and even though I can't breathe today I have life when so many others don't. But there is a depression that sets in and I just start crying. Why can't I just feel good, why do I have to have this day after day. See even on my best days my lungs suck. I look at Mark and I tell him how much I envy him. So I get my breathing machine (nebulizer) and medication so I can start my treatments. I put a smile on my face and try to make the best of my day because in all honestly I am truly blessed.
Sorry to be Debby downer but sometimes I just have to get this off my chest. So where does that leave my tree? You only get one guess :) You know how sometimes you can't see the forest through the trees? Kendra warned me before Christmas. Don't overdue because you will end up sick. Yes Kendra you were right! But someone answer this for me, how do you not make Christmas the best for your family each year? (I don't just do it for them, I love it too.)
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
New International Version (NIV)
16 Rejoice always, 17 pray continually, 18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
P.S. I only left $40. in Vegas so I really played on their money!

That didn't sound like a Debby Downer post at all! It sounds like you had a good time in Vegas; at least you had a couple of good days, anyway. Hope you're feeling better. I can't imagine what it must feel like to have difficulty breathing.
so sorry it had to get in your lungs...i hope the treatments work quickly....glad you didn't leave much in Vegas...looks like a cool hotel...
When you recall your trip in the future your thoughts will be about the good times and being there with your man. Thoughts of this health issue will just evaporate. My prayer is that you recover from your cold and your lungs improve quickly.
Joyful
It's certainly okay to have a party for yourself once in awhile...that is how we can look up and count our blessings afterward...
Oh, Sweet Debby! I hope you feel better soon. Take care of yourself and get those lungs back to 'better'! I loved the commercial clip and I'm sad you didn't show us something of yourself being cute and silly in the elevator!
Mama said there'll be days like that! Hang in there. Hope you start feeling better. it's the pitts to be sickly.
Sounds like a wonderful place to stay! Haven't been there. But, it's been several years since I went to Vegas. Donald usually goes every year for conventions. I understand how miserable a cold can be...especially when you really want to be doing something else! Just not fair! I'm still at home and this morning and not being able to be at church for the big anniversary service I wanted to go to. Oh well. You are right...God is in control. And, that's a good thing.
Happy Birthday to your son. Hope the Copd eases soon...Take care.
Okay - first of all - the trip sounded fantastic - I loved the hotel pictures you shared. Glad you had such a great time.
I am so sorry for your lungs - you know we've talked and I have similar issues - in fact I have bronchitis now. What makes me mad is when I see people - especially young people smoke. I hate to see them dirtying their lungs.
My mother smoked while she was pregnant and all the time I grew up and my lungs are weak.
Anyway it is about you. It is scary not to be able to breathe - something most take for granted. I think it is okay to feel bad, scared, and to have a little pity party.
Just get better and feel better soon!
Love, sandie
So sorry to hear your lungs are giving you fits. Must be that time of year as we ended up with Jazzy in the er this weekend.
I'm so sorry you are sick! It sounds like a great trip, but coming home to being sick and needing to pack up Christmas stuff....let's just say you have every right to cry! Some days I'm depressed for absolutely no reason at all, so just know there are plenty of people in the boat with you. Feel better soon and just take it easy.
Oh sweetie I'm so sorry you ended up feeling so ill! I also don't read this as a Debby Downer post...it's just the way it is today, tomorrow will be brighter:)
Hugs!
I am sorry you got sick Debby. Sending you hugs.
Wow! That is some hotel, and that ad is so funny. You should have done something silly in the elevator to show us! Glad your trip ended up being fun, but so sorry you are sick now. I know you're depressed, but your post shows your spirit of thinking of your problem in the best light possible. Hang in there. Hope you feel much bettery very quickly. laurie
I am so sorry! That has to be so frustrating and scary.
Hope you are feeling better by now.
How long have you struggled with COPD? As an ER nurse I have the opportunity to take care of many of this struggle. My heart goes out to them.
I can sort of empathize, Debby, as one who uses a walker or wheelchair at 45. But I also see my way of reacting in yours too! I have days where I just cry in frustration, but like you, I get it off my chest and out of my system and enjoy the things I have, like you did so well in Vegas! SO, not a Debby downer to me either. You're just a normal good person!
Still, I'm sorry the cold got into your lungs. I know you SO wanted that to not happen! But I truly believe God gives us challenges to show us how strong he made us. Welcome to the Super Woman club?
Glad you enjoyed Vegas. I'd use that thick privacy curtain in the shower too1 :)
Sounds like you had a nice time, except the sick part...I know it had to bite! Hope you feel better!
Hoping you feel so much better soon. So sorry you had to get sick. Sounds like a nice time. {{{Hugs}}}
Oh! What a terrible time to get sick! Right in the middle of a fantastic vacation. I'm so sorry you're not feeling well.
I'm thinking about you, Debby.
Its great to hear you talk so well about the Cosmopolitan, we stayed at the Venetian, but we spent alot of time at the Cosmopolitan and thought when we go again, that we would stay there, its in a great spot on the strip and we thought it had a really lovely vibe. Hope you are feeling better.
Ya know, you're allowed to acknowledge that you don't like hurting. Counting your blessing sis important (I'm a firm believer in ti!) but it's crazy-making to try to pretend all the time that you have no difficulties in your life. And what better place to say so than here, where you know we all care and want you well? I'm glad you enjoyed the trip and hope you are feeling better soon.
It sounds like you squeezed in some fun and dealt with the cold and appreciated the great room you stayed in while you were in Las Vegas. You have been busy for awhile and you do go all out at Christmas. It has only been a month since Christmas. I hope you feel better soon and as your body recovers, your spirits will too.
Please tell me you're feeling better today? xoxo
#2 is home from school today with some kind of tummy thing. PleaseOHplease let it not be the stomach flu that has been going around!
Will we see you tomorrow?
Yep, we Mamas climb the old ladder clear to the top for our families but the old body 'ill kick back on us if we abuse it.
I'm so sorry ya got sick on your trip but I do love your outlook and humor...sooooo not Debby Downer sweetie!
Take care, feel better and I'm sendin' you some big old hugs and healin' prayers your way.
God is good!!!
Debby this post did not seem bad. I quite enjoyed it. Always like to look at the venturous pictures that go along. Blessings and hugs.
You know my moto get it off or it will break you down! I do the same thing, and knocked myself on my butt again for a few wks being sick.
I hope your taking it easy and feeling better soon!!
I'm glad you're going back with Amber!
love the passages. HUGS :)
You didn't sound bad to me. You were feeling sick and you had every right to complain about that. And I love that you got so much gambling time in and still only left $40 there!
I'm sorry for the sickness. No one likes not feeling well. :(
