Head on over to Brandy's blog and join us.
So I am calling this one Back in the Saddle Again! First of all I waited until I got back to a weight that I had posted before which was my best weight last year. That was probably right before our trip to Europe last June when I was right around 200. Then after Christmas I got on the scale and I couldn't believe I was up to 216. It crushed me. So technically I am back to square one which is 200 pounds. I was happy to lose the 16 pounds but to me they don't really count!
So I am back to doing low carb which we did about 8 years ago when I got down to 147 and stayed that way for a few years. Then we got lazy in our eating. I don't care what diet you are following you can't get lazy. You have to stay with healthy eating all the time. One thing I know for sure, the more carbs you eat the more you crave them! I am also watching my sugar intake, nothing special other than limiting the sweets. So far so good. I am working really hard to be creative in meals and it certainly helps to have Google, Blogs and Pinterest on my side.
As far as back in the saddle goes, Mark and I bought a Groupon to take a wine tour through the vineyards on horseback. Getting some weight off is definitely going to make that easier for me. (and the horse) We also found out we have a family wedding coming up later this year and I would love to look better for that. So say a prayer, cross your fingers and wish me luck!

I made low carb Chicken Parmesan last Saturday that I found at Food.com. It was absolutely delicious. We will be making this one often!

YAY girl! Good for you and keep going. I love low carb foods.
Great job! I'm a bit of a carb addict, so I always admire those who can make low carb work with such dedication! :-)
Not sure that I could give up carbs. But if it works for you, then that's really all that matters. I'm thankful that there are so many options/choices out there for weight management. ;-) Praying that you will achieve your goals during this journey you're on. You can do it!
Keep up the great work, Debby...you've got this! A horseback ride sounds like such fun! It's been several years since I've been on one, but I loved every second of it!
Keep it up! I'm on my way to the gym right now. My diet is good but the exercise is where I fall off the wagon : )
That Chicken Parmesan looks so yummy! I need to go check out the recipe!
Hi Debby! Good for you! The only "diet" that ever works for me is to just cut back on portions. That way I still can eat anything I want without feeling guilty. "They" say that depriving yourself of certain foods is what makes a person "fall off the wagon" and I've been there before! I wish you the best!! BTW, I just had to pop over and read this, after I saw your title. One of my recent posts was about Salads..and I wrote a poem/song! It is on January 26th, if you want to check it out. I think you'll get a kick out of it!
Good luck and I am wishing you lots of will power. Have you ever read the book Women Food and God by Geneeth Roth. I recommend it to anyone wanting to lose weight.
You can do it!!! Good job for losing those 16lbs. Finding healthy recipes is my biggest battle, will be looking that chicken parmesan.
WOW. 16 POUNDS. i say it totally counts!!! keep it up and you'll be on the skinny train. choo choo!
Those 16 pounds totally count. It is NOT easy to lose that amount of weight!!
The wine tour on horseback sounds amazing.
Enjoy making those treats for Sunday!
yay!! i need to get back on the horse or saddle or whatever haha
good for u!! that food looks really good!!
u can do this!
I'm going to be back in that saddle in a couple of days myself. It's really getting on my nerves that I'm heavier than I'd like to be. :( Good luck with your FAF journey!
I hear you I do the same I'm not counting until I get back to the number I posted a while back.
LOVE groupon, and how much that sounds! I have the boobs and up rule for photos ... lol
Hope you have a fab weekend! And way to go on eating better!
Keeping you in my prayers, the food looks great!
Good for you, you will do fantastically, I know it.
I'm right there with you....trying to get healthy and I wouldn't mind looking like I did at 40. Never thought I'd say that. You are absolutely right about it being something you have to stay with! It's hard to lose but oh, so easy to gain!!!
You'll do great! That parmesan chicken looks great!
I hear you...I lost 70 lbs 3 or 4 years ago...but I've put back on
about 10...so I'm trying to get back on the straightened arrow

I came over here to visit your from Tauna's blog (Garden of Egan) Love her.
I totally get the weight loss thing. I have always been a good weight (between 145 and 150), then got remarried in fall of 2009...which took me away from my kids in Utah, and back up here to Canada to be with my "first love" LONG STORY !!!
Anyway, point being the adjustment was a big deal, so what did I do EAT
and sit around and feel lonely for my kids and grandkids.
Also we are both retired now, so have "time on our hands"
Then in 2010 I had a son pass away which rocked my world. so more depression and eating and sitting in a stupor of sadness.
NOW..like you, I decided it's time to get back in the saddle
We have 4 horses by the way
good analogy
So I have to get the "me I used to be" before all these changes came in my life.
It is helpful to find low cal recipes.
Was nice visiting here.
oh AND GUESS WHAT
I love ladybugs too...they are good luck. !!
how funny is that.
Hi Debby, it's really nice meeting someone who is honest about themselves. All the best in attaining your goal. I know how hard it is, especially as you get older. Personally, I find that medications make it harder to lose weight, in my case, I have put weight on because of them. Thanks for sharing. I have recently found your blog and am now following you, and will visit often. Please stop by my blog and perhaps you would like to follow me also. Have a wonderful day. Hugs, Chris

I do know what your talking about...I two had gotten down to 200 and now have put it back on...its so hard to keep off once you you put it on. Good luck you have done good.
you can do it, but do it slow....you will have better long lasting results
The more upset I am the more I eat. To heck with portions, I want to keep putting comfort food in my mouth. So part of my healing includes taking care of myself regarding food. My brain tells me I do not need that much food but at that point I have little will power. It is a good thing I go to the senior center for lunch because the portions there are sensible.
I commend you for your open discussion and for looking forward to events that encourage you to look better and take care of yourself. Do you weigh yourself at home or when you get to the doctor's office and how often?
keep going...often I need a wake up call as well by way of the scales...
I've been thinking of that low carb diet again. It works.
AAARRRGGGGHHHH bread is my favorite food group.
Ooh, a horseback wine tour! That sounds like so much fun. I love Groupon.
Congrats on getting those pounds off! I need to do the same.
wishing you the best in your weight loss. I know it's not always easy but you can do it!
You can do it. And the 16 lbs you lost do count because if you hadn't lost them, they would still be there.
Losing weight always counts...even if you are re-losing it. Carbs, calories, and sweets all seem to be huge factors to weight so cutting down on all 3 will help tons! :)
Good for you Debby! I need to do the same...Carbs are my downfall. Oh, and I do not enjoy working out at all. But am trying to hit the treadmill 3 times a week. Now, if I could only give up Carbs..sigh.
Big Hugs my friend and keep up the good work!
Debby I am rooting for you. I know how hard it can be.
Good luck! From everything I've read recently it sounds like carbs are key. And congratulations on the 16 pounds (even if you aren't going to count them)!
I could never do low carb but I'm doing well with eating just fruit carbs mainly and of course breads. My healthy eating is going great still. That trail on horseback sounds fun, have a great time.
YOu can do it! Yes you can.
I'm going to check out that chicken parm recipe ..it looks delicious.
I am late, but faithful. I wish you the best of luck - you can do it. sandie
Looks yummy. Good job on 200! As someone who just started a no refined carbs diet, I am feeling all too well the pain of carb addiction. It's a tough one!
