WEDNESDAY HODGEPODGE

1. Did March come in like a lion or was it something less ferocious in your neck of the woods?
I think it was less ferocious.

2. Speaking of lions, which one's your film favorite...The Cowardly Lion (Wizard of Oz), Mufasa (The Lion King), Elsa (Born Free), or Alex (Madagascar)? You may notice I left Aslan off the list. Including him would have made this question way too easy for many of you.
Definitely the Cowardly Lion. I didn't even know who Aslan was but I looked it up and I love the Narnia movies. I didn't know that was him name.

3. What's your favorite spot from which to view the sunrise or sunset?
Our backyard, cabin in Mammoth Lakes or at the beach!

4. To what extent is knowledge power and to what extent is truth power? What's the difference?
You lost me with this one. I don't have the brain power today to answer this. I spent 2 1/2 hours of waiting on two different airline calls and then talked with two different people for about 1 hour total and accomplished nothing. I can tell you that they didn't have any knowledge! Looking forward to seeing what everyone says.

5. What's something peculiar you've seen recently?
It's not peculiar but I always think it is funny when I see people walking backwards on their walks.

6. Bottled water...your thoughts?
We do have bottled water at home but I use it only on the run. We have filtered water with the refrigerator so I don't drink bottle water in the house. I always recycle the bottles. The ones I take with me I bring home again, like if I put one in my purse for the show.

7. What's your strongest sense?
I think that maybe smell is my strongest sense but I see well, taste well, hear well and touch well. (No sure how you meant this)

8. Insert your own random thought here.
I found out something very interesting about myself last Thursday. If I lived in a cabin in the back woods without power, I would have a very clean house and meals on the table every night. We had extremely high Santa Ana winds on Thursday and our power went out for 4 1/2 hours. No internet, no TV and basically no nothing! I cleaned out my bathroom cabinets and drawers. You can now see the counter top and it has nothing on it except for a few decorations, hand soap and my hand towel.

I think that is what life was like for me before I started to blog. I actually took more pride in my house and I miss that. I have to find a balance one of these days. Finding balance means not reading every post that my friends write. Feels like I would be letting everyone down. It hit home for me the other day when my dear friend Kristin @The Goat said this to me on Facebook. "You're reading someone else's life and not creating your own!" Absolutely true.

Do you notice God's blessing in your everyday life? His hands in the direction of your day? See on Thursday Mark was leaving for his trip. Amber said she would take him to the airport. She wanted to use his car while he was gone and also she had errands to run. (normally his car sits at the airport) I had planned on taking him since I had an errand to run too. So come Thursday morning she says I want to sleep longer, you take him mom. I said no, you need to run your errands and it will be good for you to get those things done before you go to work.

Now if I had taken him and run my errands all hell would have broken loose later because she never would have been able to get ready for work with the power out. You really can't dry your hair and do things in a normal fashion. On the other hand if the power hadn't gone out I would not have learned a very important lesson about myself. These little things are Godincidences. I know He is always here with me during the small stuff and the big stuff.

There is balance to be found in the online world but I think we have to work for it. How about a timer? Read posts for a set amount of time and the next day pick up where you left off? You'll miss a few but you'll get around to all of them at least a couple of times in a week. I don't think people expect more than that.

Enjoy your day!

LOL...on your #8...but in all reality, I think it's that way with most of us with our lifestyles these days.

My Wednesday post link: White Pelican 'chit-chat'

Hope you're having a terrific day!!

I try very hard to watch the amount of time I spend blogging, on Pinterest, etc., but I do have times when I've not accomplished what I set out to do for the day. Defnitely always room for improvement!

Isn't it amazing what we can get done without the interruptions caused by all things electric?

I suspect that all of us would be more productive if we didn't have computers and televisions to distract us. I know that I've had to work at spending less time on the computer ... and while I still spend more time than I would like, I've been able to cut way back on the amount of time I spent on the computer, so I'm proof that it can be done. It's not easy, but it can be done. ;-)

funny how things happen for a reason...even if we don't realize it till later..

March came in more like a lion here, but it's turning out to be fairly pleasant :-)

The sunset over a lake always seems to be beautiful :-)

Right with you on finding a balance-I loose track of time and before I know it--Wow-so much 'stuff' hasn't gotten down. Let me know what you come up with-maybe thi will help me.
Random thought-so true!

Some days knowledge brings sorrow! Like when I find out something about one of my children that I wish I didn't know. But truth on the other hand.....knowing that God is absolutely in control does give me the power to not sob so loudly! :)

If I walked backwards, I would have a lot of bruises!

Love your thoughts, especially about how things work out! When my power is off, I think I do pretty much nothing! Sad, Sad....and I often feel like I'm living through other's blogs, but some days that's a good thing!

I do think at times knowledge brings pain. And at times it brings joys.

I drink bottled water or filtered water.

Some times my feelings seem to be too strong but that is not a sense really. I feel all of them too much!

"You're reading someone else's life and not creating your own!"
That is a hard one - because living with blogs is a good part of my life...

Love, sandie

When there was that huge power outage in the northeast back in 2003, I learned a thing or two. With an electric stove, no microwave, etc... we only ate what we could eat raw or cook on the outside grill. )Oh, and no windows in any of the bathrooms meant all bathroom activities were done either with a flashlight or open door. "Roughing it" was truly an experience!

I agree with you, Debby. My house (and other things) were in a lot better order before blogging, but I don't think I was smarter then and definitely not happier. I think there's a happy balance--somewhere...

I actually let life take over and tend to forget to blog because I want the house and my homework done first... But sometimes like right now, I am avoiding housework. LOL!

It was 70 here yesterday and in the 30's today. This weather is just crazy.

That worked out perfectly with the airport run, and I really did think you'd kinda given yourself some slack about reading blogs. Kristin was absolutely right.

Debby! Don't you worry about not commenting on everyone's post!!! You have so many blogs you keep up with and I agree with your friend. While it is nice to have the love of all of us you will have it whether or not you check in on our blogs!! I for one give you permission not to check in on us all the time! :-)

On a side note... here is one thing you can do instead of turning on your computer. If you haven't already, Read the Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum (the original book). I LOVE the movie but to be honest, i loved the book so much more! My first graders ate it up and couldn't get enough of it!!

And on another side... you don't need to respond to all of my comments either! I know you love me! I love you back! ;-)

Have a wonderful day friend!!!!!
Hugs~
L
You're the sweetest soul with or without blogging!!

Hi Debby! March is quite the lamb already here too! & I am kind of thinking spring is here! (Do I dare say that?)

I have a soft spot for that cowardly lion too :)

Love that you notice God when others might not :)

Have a great night Debby!

Have to say Aslan, anyway. If you ever see the movie you will know why. He IS in control!

Sunset? definitely from the beach.

I'm with you...I let a lot of things slip since I started blog/FB/Pinterest. I just have to check in on it everyday...several times.

Yes, God has a way of showing us the He is around and very present in our daily lives. That is a wonderful feeling for me!

I love all your answers, and your random thought about God was the best!...I love when other's share about how the Lord works in their lives, thank you,Debby for sharing it!

trennia said...

Oh, and by the Aslan would have been my fav. but since you/we could not choose him the Cowardly Lion would have been my choice too.

I loe the cowardly lion myself and loved your number 8 response. Last time we were without power for hours...Frank and I played a board game by candlelight...very romantic.

CiCi said...

What a great way to spend your down time. On the odd times that the electricity is out here, I light all the candles and oil lamp and read. I can still listen to music if I want using batteries. But the quiet time is nice too.

Amen Debby...God has everything under control!
