1. What is a pet peeve you have when vacationing?
I am sure I have several but my biggest pet peeve is my husband on a road trip. He thinks we are in some race and we have to be first. He can't just relax and enjoy the ride, especially when we are on some two lane highway, he has to pass everybody!
2. Would you describe yourself as a light packer or do you need everything in your closet plus the kitchen sink?
Well I have been known to need everything in my closet but I'm learning to pack lighter. (only took 60 years) However I still have a problem with toiletries!
3. What's the best lesson a child ever taught you?
I am going to say pure love. What I mean by that: it is the kind of love God has for all of us. Unless we teach them otherwise they will love freely without prejudice or judgement.
I can't really say that a child taught me this but it is an observation of mine.
4. Share one piece of advice you'd give a recent graduate as they attempt to enter the job market?
Be yourself, love what you do and live a short distance from your job if you can.
5. What's your favorite lemon something?
I can't seem to pick just one. I L.O.V.E lemon, it's my favorite. I drink lemon water everyday. Lemon Bars, Lemon Cheesecake, Lemon Scones, Lemon Fudge.....you get the point!

6. Flat sandal, wedge, heel...your favorite footwear?
I wear Birkenstock sandals 97% of the time. If I'm not wearing them I would be wearing a Born shoe.
7. What do you like best about a beach holiday? If you're not a beach lover (GASP!!) what do you dislike the least?
I would have to say listening to the ocean and going for walks along the beach.
8. Insert your own random thought here.
One Door Closes and Another Door Opens:
I don't believe I shared the fact the our son-in-law is now unemployed. The company he has been working at for 7 years closed their doors two weeks ago. The economy got to them. This was a car repo business that was started by the owners father back in the 50's. At one time they were the #1 repo company in California. So he will most likely use his G.I. bill from the Marines and attend college.
Our daughter who has worked at two different Hallmark stores over the last 8 years just interviewed for a position and is now going to be the manager of the Hallmark store. This job comes with a full time position, with a raise that will double her salary, vacation and insurance. (she has not had insurance since he left the Marines) We are thrilled for them.
So even though they will still be living here with us they will continue to have the money they need to pay their bills while he attends college. God is good!

Great news about your daughters job! I love lemon also lemon anything :) Also walks on the beach...I need to do that more. I hope you are feeling good my friend.
I had to laugh at your answer for #1. That's my husband through and through. Gread advice for #4. So happy to hear the news about your daughter and son-in-law. I know all too well how hard it is when your spouse loses his job. Glad their story has a happy ending.
I am so with you on #7. In fact, even though we're now back home, there's a small part of my heart that's still back on the beach, walking along with the waves crashing over my feet.
Great news about your daughter's job, and sorry to hear about your son-in-law's job. Thankful that God's timing was (as it always is) perfect!
I love how God shines through even when the devil tries to bring darkness!
God is good Debby. Really good news about your daughter. I have always wanted to get a pair of Birkenstock sandals. They look so comfortable. I usually end up wearing crocs.
Oh I am packing right now to go away for the weekend an must confess I am a chronic over packer. It's like a disease!! (and lemon fudge? Who knew>)
I love walks on the beach too! They are few and far between for me though :)
I love these posts! I like to slow down when we drive, too...especially when we are out just to ride!!
That is sad about your SIL, but almost a good thing (actually a good thing in that he can go to school, further his education, etc) Great too that your daughter will got that promotion and will have more benefits, etc. You are right, God is good (all the time :)
Yum on lemon; I found a lemon pound cake recipe; it looked easy; I'm going to make it the next time I have hospitality at church :)
enjoy the day!

Love your answer for #3. Isn't it a shame we unlearn that as we grow and then have to relearn it?
Wonderful news about your daughter's job and that your s-i-l will be able to go to school. God is good.
I am the worst housekeeper. I do not hang anything up. Anything in my closet is thrown in. As I heal emotionally, hopefully the self care part will once again kick in. Blessings to you Debby.
Good news about the daughter. God Is Good.
God is Good - Isn't it amazing how He can take a trial and turn it into a blessing. That is great about your Daughter's job! And it is also great that your SIL will be going back to school! Everything happens for a reason!

YUP God is taking care of them for sure. I wish I could wear sandles all year but come fall, it's just too cold!!! Great answers
My hub is the same way when traveling-none stop and hurry and get there. Great news about your daughter.
I agree with you totally about lessons learned from children, and walking on beaches is one of my favourite things too :)
You are the second one today that mentioned Birkenstocks. I am going to have to find my pair that must be packed away somewhere.
I enjoy these lists about fellow bloggers lives...interesting to me.
Congrats on your daughters job and good luck to your son in law!
and I agree..children can teach pure love...what a beautiful thing!
A child's love is unconditional and pure. The greatest thing about teach children as they grow is what we can learn from them!
I think everyone loves lemon!
Happy for your daughter. I went to the Hallmark Store today. I love going to them!
I've never worn a Birkenstock but my two kids owned enough for the family when they were teenagers. I don't like anything flat.
Happy Day to you!
Good news on your daughter and son-in-law!
I love beaches, and I love comfortable sandals, but I also have a weakness for boots and some heels.
I'm playing catch up bad! Love that your daughter got the manage job and will have insurance! I know that's a major relief.
My husband has learned to be a little teeny bit more patient on road trips thank goodness! He still has his moments.
I absolutely love the beach and hope desperately that we get to put our toes in the gulf before long! Have a wonderful Mother's day!
Bless you for opening your hearts and home to your daughter and son in law. It's wonderful that she has a job where her salary is doubled while her husband is going to school. That's got to be such a relief. I wish them well.
My husband drives too fast too. It drives me crazy.
