WEDNESDAY HODGEPODGE (Vol.84)

What are you waiting for,
this is fun so head on over
and visit with Joyce!

1. How often do you check the weather? How do you check the weather?
Hardly ever! I have a weather widget up on my Google main page which by the way Google will be taking away in November 2013. It's the iGoogle page and it will be removed from the phones now.

2. Since this is volume 84 of the Wednesday Hodgepodge, and since I got married in 1984, and since I'm attending a wedding this weekend it only seems right to post something related here.
"Happiness in marriage is entirely a matter of chance. If the dispositions of the parties are ever so well known to each other or ever so similar beforehand, it does not advance their felicity in the least. They always continue to grow sufficiently unlike afterwards to have their share of vexation; and it is better to know as little as possible of the defects of the person with whom you are to pass your life."

Agree or Disagree. Why?
This is a tough one!!! I do agree that we may continue to grow unlike because you can't change people. (Believe me I have tried!) It may be better to know as little as possible of the defects but I don't see how that can really happen in a marriage. Haven't we seen it all? I guess true happiness may happen by chance for some but the rest of us have to work at it.

3. Do you like to dance? Have you ever taken dance lessons?
Haven't danced in years. I loved dancing in High School. I can't say that I have taken any special dance classes other than maybe as a small child. My husband has never liked to dance and we didn't dance at our wedding for that reason.

4. Fresh from the oven peach pie or home made peach ice cream? Pick one.
I am not a big peach fan but I will pick the ice cream.  However my family would make "peach dumplings" which were absolutely wonderful. The dumpling would be boiled and eaten warm with dry cottage cheese, butter and sugar. This was to die for!!!

5. Should people accept unfairness and learn to make the best of it?
No I don't think we should accept unfairness but sometimes you can't fight city hall, so to speak, and that is really sad!

6. The top five all time summer movie blockbusters (released between May and August and grossing at least 100 million dollars) are-Jaws, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Star Wars (the original), Ghostbusters, and ET. Which one's your favorite?
1. Raiders of the Lost Ark
2. ET
3. Ghostbusters
4. Star Wars
5. Jaws

7. If given the chance, would you like to visit the moon?
Maybe years ago I would have said yes but not today.

8. Insert your own random thought here.
Being without Internet on vacation was truly a blessing although I was very angry at first when this cabin didn't get a signal. Higher up on the mountain we did get a signal. I realized that I spend way too much time here most days at home. I enjoyed reading books, playing scrabble each evening and listening to the one radio station that they have in Mammoth Lakes. Such a simple way of living. Also it's nice when you really don't have any major responsibilities to taking care of the place. We do have to leave like it was when we came in. We vacuum and mop the floors but they don't leave you any other cleaning products. They come in and do the sanitary things they have to do!

I had 2,259 posts in my reader! Granted I don't read everyone anymore and after I go in and delete the folders where I have put most of them I still had to look over many posts to make sure I didn't miss something important, especially all my baby lost mothers. I got the list down to a few hundred and it really stressed me out on Monday. (No I can not hit Mark All As Read, it's not in me to do that) So I am working my way through them although I took yesterday off to run errands, get my pedicure and go to the movies. A girl has to have some priorities!!!

Your vacation sounded wonderful. We get so attached to our computers don't we? Welcome home.

Breaks from technology are a good thing. When I have so many in my reader after time away I often only read the person's most recent post-if they wrote four or five that I missed I'll only go to the most current. That helps!

Welcome home!

It's sad to say, but I think I would have a hard time being off the computer for a week......I am going to really try to be on less though.....I'm having a hard time posting lately and I'm not sure why.

You're right about the working at marriage! I think it's a daily thing and if I neglect it, I'm discontent!

I don't know that I could go a week without computer access (although I'm going to find out when we take our cruise in January). Even though I've chosen to spend less time online, I still spend plenty of time on this computer.

After I've been gone for a while I read, but don't comment on the bogs in my reader. I still have to weed out the ads in my 300+ emails!

I've been thinking about this moon thing as I'm reading others' answers. Yanno, n zero-gravity balance isn't an issue and the gravity is what makes the stress on my back that gives me pain. I might not want to come back! :)

Since we eloped, we didn't dance either. We were surprised that at out double header baseball reception that they didn't get the obvious bride and groom with the "Kiss Cam," but no dancing there either.

Not a big fan of peaches but the dumplings sound great!
Wow that's a lot of posts!

And have you a recipe you'd like to share for those peach dumplings? I'd LOVE to try them! Glad you had a nice time on vacay! Don't worry, you didn't miss a thing on my blog. LOL

Welcome home from your heavenly-sounding vacation :) We should all get back to the simpler things in life...

I left my computer at home on our last "get-away", and it was nice for a change.

Some of today's questions were tough, weren't they?

Another peach non-lover. But dumplings with dry cottage cheese?! Can't quite picture that.

Vacations are great, aren't they?

loved your answers. Some of the questions today were tough.....and required more thought than I had capacity for. LOL

I hope to go on vacation soon and do absolutely nothing, but I still want internet access! After all, if you can't waste time on vacation, when can you waste time? : )

I'm about to go on a vacation where technology is minimal. (Oh yes I will have my iphone but I hope to leave it off my body from time to time.) I REALLY want to sit and read a book, a real book...but maybe my Kindle will do. Wish me luck!

I'm gutted about the iGoogle thing. I mean there's time for desktop part, but I use it on my phone too. I'm pretty new to the whole smart phone thing (last fall), and the mobile iGoogle page has been so easy. I've already got a line on a desktop replacement, but not for my phone. (It's not like I have an opinion about it or anything. lol)

I love love love to dance. And if I knew how and my body cooperated I would be dancing 24/7.

And I love peaches.

Peach dumplings. Never heard of them, but I'd like to try them some day. I love Apple Dumplings tho.

I love love to dance.

There is a company here in Nebraska that makes awesome frozen peach pies that when warmed on the Traeger grill are so so delicios. The pies are called Village Maker pies and they have several kinds.

Hubby was always playing music so we never danced together; we actually had to practice danding together before our wedding :)

It is always good to get away from technology; I think you are a dedicated person to not mark all read but to "muddle" through them; that is a sign of dedication and committment!

I don't think I could pick a favorite from that list, but Jaws would be last for me too.

My hubby watches the weather like crazy and when they have all their shows on, he grabs my phone to check the radar. It is crazy! I cannot stand peaches in desserts but love to eat them whole!

I have to admit, I check the weather app on my phone regularly to plan things like when I can run or go out on the lake.

I would not visit the moon. I feel like I'm starting to get a panic attack just thinking about the whole ordeal. Not for me.
