I will make this short and sweet. So much to tell you. Some of you know this because I did put a few things up on Facebook because I just couldn't hold out any longer! My family and I were just in Chicago for a family wedding and so much more. Mark and I left last Monday and the kids flew on Wednesday night to join us. I didn't want to advertise it because this is the first time in 2 1/2 years that our home would be empty. (You never know who is watching)
So Skye and Charlie went to the kennel and I will be picking them up this morning. Mark and I flew home from Chicago yesterday, kids fly home today. Also Mark is on his way this morning to Germany and UK for two weeks after getting home at midnight last night. So I wanted to get this up quickly so you could pray for my family and their safety today. Last week when I asked for prayers it was for our children flying to Chicago and thank you so much. They arrived safely. You won't believe my week when I get it down on paper. God is so good!!!!
So anyway Mark and I just arrived in Denver for our second flight. I didn't turn on my phone because I was almost out of battery. He turned his phone on and it rang but he didn't know the number. Well thankfully we called the number back. It was the kennel. Skye was in need of seeing the vet and they needed our permission. Apparentely she had an anal gland issue which needed immediate attention. They assured us it was simple, very common. She may need to be put out but maybe not. I was a wreck! (Being upgraded to first class and a few glasses of wine helped)
So I just called and all is well. They had to put a drain in last night and she is all set to come home. Thankfully it was all taken care of. Honestly we are now thinking that this is why she has been biting at her bottom and maybe it wasn't flea bites afterall. I am leaving shortly to pick her and Charlie up. It would have been nice to have some help her today but everyone is gone but I'm not complaining. I am thankful for all the blesssings I receive.
I will be back with so much to share. I will be around to read what I missed while I was gone. Literally there was no time to blog and barely read my emails. When there was time I was resting. I have never been this exhausted in my life and tomorrow I have to bowl six games. Wish me luck!

Poor baby! I'm so glad that she is OK now and all is well. Those glans can be a real problem and some dogs hve them removed!! OUCH, Good luck at bowling tomorrow.
Oh, poor Skye my heart goes out to her and you.I'm glad everything is okay now.Praying for travel mercies for your family.
Sounds like you had a great time travelling! :) I hope Skye is feeling okay. My freddy sometimes has anal gland problems. They're supposed to be popped everytime they're groomed (by the groomer) and sometimes he reacts very badly to that. But it is always a simple fix. Glad it was not anything more serious!
I'm glad Skye's situation was easily taken care of and that everyone has been safe. I pray that will continue.
And wow to having to bowl six games after this whirlwind!
Praying for your family...so glad that Skye is doing well. Can't wait to read about your trip, now rest up tonight before bowling.
I am so thankful Skye's doctor called you and Mark answered the phone.
Glad everyone made it safe there and back.
I know you had a great time.
Prayers for Mark's safety in Germany.
And can't wait to hear your stories.
Smart chick!!! I always tell of my 'trips' after I return. Ya truly don't want to announce your house is empty to the world!
Glory what a whirlwind! So glad everything is hunky dory. God is GOOD!!!
I will keep Mr. Mark in my prayers for sure.
Thanks for checkin' in on me...I so appreciate it. Seems that the busy farm and life has totally sucked up all my time this summer.
We're just beginnin' harvest season. First we'll chop the sorghum into silage then after the first killin' frost the soybeans will be ready to harvest. Hopefully as the weather cools I'll have more time to 'play'. I sure miss ya'll!
God bless and have a magnificent week my friend!!! :o)
small dogs tend to have problems with that gland...our schnauzers have had to have theirs drained several times....it's really easy...but smelly...glad you had a good trip..can't wait to hear all about it...6 games bowling...whew...you better rest up..
Sounds crazy!
Good luck on the games tomorrow :)
We have anal gland issues too. It happens in smaller breeds apparently. First time was traumatic. Now I take the anal gland dog, Panda, in a few times a year and have them drain them as prevention. That's what the vet in FL told me to do. I notice she is messing with that area a bit so I guess I will have to break down and find a new vet here to drain 'em. Now pass me that wine and I wanna know what it was like to fly first class! Sounds like a fun/exciting/busy time! Ann
We were out of town last week too. If we're both away I generally don't mention it til after the fact. I'm glad your pup is okay. First class makes it hard to ever fly economy : )
Glad the trip went well and that Skye is doing well. And I do hope you rest well tonight. I pray the Lord will bless you with many "good rolls" tomorrow!!!
Aw, poor Skye. I hope she feels better. This is gross, but I have learned how to express the anal glands of our dachshunds. I try to do it at least every two weeks... once I got behind the 'gross factor", It's not that bad. :/
Oh poor darling skye
I can see why you're so exhausted! Whew! My heart goes out to Skye...poor thing! Can't wait to hear about all you have to share!
Well, I've been gone as well and just got in last night from Virginia. I didn't have time for a blog entry today but am trying to do a little visiting around this evening. Blessings!
Poor Skye! Glad she was at the kennel and they realized she needed to be seen by the vet and could get in contact with you to make the arrangements. Those dogs of ours keep us coming and going I do believe! Glad you guys all got away to enjoy the wedding though! I do agree with you about not announcing you were leaving; we really don't know indeed who is reading our blogs
betty
I am glad that Skye is okay and you are picking your baby up. I am looking forward to see the wedding adventures!
glad skye is ok and that you had a great trip!
I was just in your neck of the woods... spent a couple of days in UT and then in Napa
So glad that Skye is feeling better. My heart always skipped a beat or two when I'd see our dogsitter's number come up on our cell phone.
First class and wine would work for me!
I hope you rested some! And the blister on your finger heals soon!
I'm so glad everyone landed safe and Skye is doing better!
