Welcome to the first Wednesday Hodgepodge for 2013!
Thank you Joyce for hosting. Click on over to join us.
1. How did you ring in the new year?
We normally stay home but we did go out during the day. We went to see the last Twilight movie Breaking Dawn Part 2. I loved it and I cried. Then we went and had a really nice dinner at the Wood Ranch Restaurant. Then we went and saw another movie. We planned on seeing Skyfall but had more time to waste so we went and saw Django Unchained. If you like Quentin Tarantino movies you will certainly like this one. They are usually pretty violent which isn't my favorite but I did like this one.
We got home around 6:30 and spent the evening with Amber & Dylan. When I do my Christmas recap post you will see that we didn't get around to doing the Gingerbread House so we worked on them on New Year's Eve and of course watched the shows on ABC. We toasted with some champagne at midnight, had some Lou Malnati's pizza, onion dip and Rotel caso. It was a very nice evening.
2. What is one thing you are looking forward to in 2013?
We are going to Houston for short trip to celebrate my mother in laws 85th birthday. I am also looking forward to my fathers 90th in June.
3. Steven Spielberg is quoted as saying, "All of us every single year, we're a different person. I don't think we're the same person all our lives." What say you?

I have not heard this one before but I am going to say that I agree with that statement. I feel I am always changing myself.
4. The Pantone color of the year for 2013 is emerald green. Like or dislike? Do you already own something this color? Will you add something in this shade to your home or wardrobe in 2013?

I don't mind the color at all but not sure I would put it on my walls. I do like emerald green in plaid shirts. We did have Pontiac Grand Prix back in the 70's that was Emerald Green, white leather interior, landau roof and white pin stripping. Wish I had a picture to show you. If you saw it now you would have thought it was a pimp car for sure!
5. Speaking of emerald...what's your favorite gemstone?
I've never been into gemstones but if I have to pick one I will say Turquoise. Correction, I love diamonds, they are by far my favorite. I wasn't thinking of precious stones. Watching QVC for so many years they wouldn't put them in a gemstone class with turquoise.

6. Share a favorite book or movie from 2012.
I did enjoy a book this summer by Georgia Bockoven called The Beach House. Movie...that's a hard one. I have a list at the top of my page which I just went over. I want to say Safe House but I also liked The Lucky One. Of course since I went to the show on New Years Eve I want to say that I really loved the final Twilight movie Breaking Dawn Part 2 too!
7. What is something you want to tell yourself at the start of this brand new year?
Can't think of anything I tell my self but I do talk to God.
8. Insert your own random thought here.
I enjoyed how light the posts were doing the Holidays. I was done reading posts in no time each day. Then yesterday I go on and suddenly everyone is back blogging. I couldn't even catch up! I do have a Christmas recap post coming up....maybe on Friday.

Steven Spielberg said that? Man, what a philosopher! I wonder how he's changed since making Jaws. More scared of sharks, perhaps.
I so wanted to watch the ball drop and officially see 2012 end... Marc and I both fell asleep around 11:56
Woke up at 12:03 lol answered all the texts I go then went back to sleep
Sounds like a wonderful way to spend ringing in the New Year! Can not wait to read your Christmas recap!
I was a late Twilight fan and so I probably won't see the movie until it's out on dvd.
Happy New Year!
Emerald always makes me think of Wizard of Oz.
I love that saying, I feel like I'm always evolving. I hope for the best :)
Can't wait to see your recap :)
I am going to check out that book ... sounds very interesting.
Sounds like it was a great New Year's Eve,Debby! And it sounds like some fun events already planned for the new year with celebrating milestone birthdays!
betty
I'm a late night girl. It was after 3:00 AM before all was quiet at my house.
Sandy
I know you had a great new years eve- family is always the best. You have two big birthdays to celebrate next year! I believe we are always in constant change. And I like Emeralds!
Your New Year's eve sounds wonderful. Those are great birthdays to look forward to.
I want to see Breaking Dawn 2!
I know, the holidays were light and it was nice not having to struggle to keep up!

I'm glad that 2012 is over and hoping that 2013 will be brighter. I talk to God a lot as well. Good company.
I loved Beach House and I've seen the movie multiple times.
I looked at the movie trailer for Django. I had not heard of it but Honey Bear said his client was going to the movies one day this week and seeing something like Djon.. Now I know what he was talking about. It looks good. Did it have much bad language?
Mama Bear
I loved the Twilight movies and the books! Your new years sounded fun. It's nice to look forward to a trip Houston celebration will be nice what a wonderful milestone! Have a wonderful day!
Sounds like a wonderful New Year's Eve. I was up biting my nails waiting to hear that we had a new great grandson! I must confess I dropped off a few times with my ipad in my lap and missed the actual ball drop!
I do like emerald green, but I love green in general and have a new cardigan in that color that I love to wear with black.
My very favorite movie out of the two we saw in the theater was Parental Guidance! We laughed ourselves silly in that one and that was just what the doctor ordered!
Debby, its good to know that you like Django Unchained. I'm not a big QT fan myself, but have been tempted to see this one. Now, it will be on my list, but I've got a lot ahead of it! Ann
An emerald green Grand Prix? Wow, that beats the one Tim and I had when we first got married. It was...a maroon/purplish 1978 or 79. My grandfather referred to it as "The Pimpmobile."
I haven't read any of the Twilight series or seen any of the films. Hoping to see Les Mis this week while my daughter is home. I really like Argo-did you see that one?
happy new year Debby....2013 - hope it's wonderful in every way for you....
Oh that green!!! wasn't that a colour in the 90's? I think I bought a house with that as the kitchen paint. It got old fast. I wonder if Avon will have a Emerald Green in their nail polish push this year.
No exciting New year's plans.... just watched a little TV and had some leftovers.
Happy New Year!! I haven't read any of the Twilight books or seen the movies... May check them out but no time to read until I have a break (or summer). Its' funny you say that your blog post reading was light since I felt like for me it was major catch-up blogging! ;-) Now back to work... we'll see. As long as I keep up with the happenings, I'm good! ;-)
I think we change all the time - not even just year by year.
Emerald, huh? I love deep greens in nature and have lots of houseplants, but I don't know think I'd want it in furniture or paint. I do love sweaters and shorts in jewel tones, including emerald.
I love the idea of taking in a couple of movies on New Years! Happy New Year to you and yours.
*shirts. Not shorts. I just want to be clear that you are unlikely to see me in emerald green shorts. :-)
