1. Lake Superior
University has once again published a list of words/phrases they think
should be banished from the Queen's English...here's the list for
2013-fiscal cliff, kick the can down the road, double down, job
creators/creation, passion/passionate, yolo (an acronym for you only live once),
spoiler alert, bucket list, trending, superfood, boneless wings, and guru.Which of these words/phrases would you most like to see
banished from everyday speech and why. Go here to read more about how
the words were chosen.
I think I would choose Spoiler Alert.
I think I would choose Spoiler Alert.
2. When was the last time you rode a
train? Where did you go?
I road a train in Disney World going from one end of the park to another. Other than that it was in Europe 2011.
3. Bagels-yay or nay? Favorite 'flavor'?
Favorite topping?
I do like bagels. Haven't had one in a long time since I am low carb and haven't reached my goal weight yet. I actually like a plain bagel with nothing on it or with some cream cheese.
4. 'Tis the season of awards shows...if you could star in a movie already made which one would you choose?
I would be Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz.
5. The move towards single gender classrooms has been making the news in recent months....what say you? Do you think kids perform better if separated by gender and are taught differently or is that discrimination? If you're a parent, is this something you'd support in regard to your own children?
I haven't heard anything about it and I don't have an opinion.
6. What's your favorite thing about staying in a hotel?
Not fixing the bed and the free goodies in the bathroom. I also love room service!!!!
7. Do you have a 'word' for 2013? What's the story behind your choice?
No but I have a few words. "Face Your Fears" I go to the doctor and often get referrals for some routine things, however I don't always get them done. This year is about facing my fears and actually making the calls and doing all the referrals I just got from my doctor on the 3rd. I do plan to work on getting things cleaned out so one word would be "Simplify" if I had one.

Giving myself permission to take a break from blogging and from reading posts worked really well for me. This is the first time I didn't feel pressured to keep up. Must be the new year and a new me! So I started taking down decorations on Thursday and by 5pm on Saturday everything was packed up and put up until later this year.
There are 3 more bins which you don't see here
and the trees are in the garage.
Early tomorrow morning we are flying to Texas so I really won't be back from my Time Out until next week. Couldn't miss Joyce's Wednesday Hodgepodge this week, it's my favorite! Hope everyone is doing well. Take care and God Bless.

Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz is a great choice! I love how all of your Christmas stuff is so organized...very impressive! I agree...taking a blog break every once in awhile is good for you. I just don't like to be away too long. Hope you have a fun and safe trip to the Lonestar State!
So glad you got all those decorations taken care of before you left. They look so neat and tidy. Enjoy your time in Texas and I'm also glad you will do the follow up appointments with doctors.
Oh, you don't want to stay in a German or a Norwegian hotel then: you always have to make your bed. BEFORE going to sleep! It's so annoying!!
I rode a train on Monday - had to go to NYC after work
I was going to vote for "bucket list" which is a concept I dislike, but then I saw "guru." Silly and pretentious, indeed.
Everything bagels with cram cheese and lox - a favorite breakfast around here!
Have a safe trip! I loved #1...i posted it on my fb page. I agree that passionate needs to go....everybody is so 'passionate' about everything these days. LOL
Yay for getting the decorations down and organized! I thought about putting labels on the Christmas totes...I probably should still do that.
Have a great time in Tx.!
I'm glad you got your Christmas decorations down before traveling. That's a huge relief, isn't it? Have a safe trip-enjoy Texas!
Have lots of fun in Texas!
Gender neutral classes? I haven't heard about that either, but don't like it, nope not at all. I haven't rode the train in a long long time!
It feels good to get the last of the Christmas decorations put away, doesn't it?
I, too, and slowing down with blogging, and it feels good.
Enjoy your get away!
smart thinking... become Dorothy & you become a legend :)
I think Disney is winning the train question :)
The Wizard of Oz...now that would be fun!
I mentioned a Disney Train too but I thought of the one at Animal Kingdom.
Have a great trip to Texas.
I agree with you on room service Debbie. I posted my hodgepodge today here.
Where in Texas???
That sure is a lot of decorations!!
I'm so glad you took the down time!
I so would love some room service too :).
I love room service...and pampering. Loved how organized your decorations are. Mine need some redoing.
Doesn't it feel wonderful knowing all the Xmas stuff are all put away?...Christine
I love the freebies from hotels too. I think I have some under my sink right now from our honeymoon over 11 years ago ;)
Enjoy your time in Texas :)
I like bagels too, but don't get them often...usually eat them plain :-)
I haven't heard about the single gender classroom thing...I'm not sure how I'd feel about it. I can't see how it'd make that big of a difference in learning...at least not at my children's ages.
That had to feel good to get it all packed up and taken care of. Have a wonderful Texas trip!
Our decorations boxes are still in the living room and the tree is half down. We aren't expecting anyone until this weekend and since we've both been sick since the start of the year, we're taking it slow.
I love room service, which is what they called the food service in the hospital. That was the one bright point, well that and I had a cool roommate for most of my stay, but hotel room service is still better food. hehe
Camping is staying at a hotel for me too! And I'd love to be Jimmy Stewart in It's A Wonderful Life. Have fun!
I know you're in Texas now and I hope you're having a wonderful time!
You packed it all up brilliantly.
