DON'T GROW OLD.....

I INTERRUPT THIS POST TO TELL YOU THAT I AM FUMING ABOUT READER SHUTTING DOWN. I TRIED FOR HOURS TO FOLLOW STEP BY STEP PROCEDURES TO TRANSFER MY BLOGS TO SEVERAL OTHER PLACES AND COULDN'T DO IT! FYI: I AM THINKING ABOUT PINNING EVERYONE TO A PRIVATE BOARD ON PINTEREST SO I HAVE A PLACE TO GO AND READ YOU.     OKAY, GETTING DOWN OFF MY SOAPBOX!!!!

....are word that my dad has said to me at least a hundred times sharing the words of his mother, my grandmother, who said this to him often. You know those words never meant very much to me until I turned 60. Of course we all want to grow old but the things that happen to the body are not fun at all.

Since I lost close to 40 pounds last year it seems as though the slimming of the face has given way to more wrinkles than I care to see when I look in the mirror. Not that I want to go back to the chubby face but I wonder what it will look like when I lose another 40 pounds that will put me closer to what I should weigh for my height. (even that is changing!)

I've always told myself that I will never get a face lift or Botox because I didn't believe in changing ones appearance but now I am second guessing these thoughts. No I will not get a face life but maybe some facial treatments that I had seen on Oprah years ago.  No one is going to cut me, that's for sure!

This is just crazy!

I have been using moisturizers for years and thought I was seeing some improvement until I lost the weight. Of course looking in our 10x mirror doesn't help or even when I look in my mirror with my reading glasses on. (Don't get me started on those reading glasses. They make a big difference in cleaning your house too!)

If only we could look this cute with our wrinkles.....

Have a Great Weekend!

FYI: I've been on a quest to find a nice BB Cream that I can wear alone or with foundation if needed and I am pleased to say that I really like the clear complexion BB Cream by Aveeno. It is oil free and covers nicely.
(BB cream is promoted as an all-in-one facial cosmetic product to replace serum, moisturizer, primer, foundation, and sunblock. It can be worn alone as a tinted moisturizer, over serum and moisturizer as a regular foundation, and under powder, depending on the desired amount of coverage.)

Thanks for the recommendation for a face cream. I've got the same issue with my skin. Can't afford Botox however. Oh my I have a lot of skin in places it should not be anymore. I feel your pain with fnding a new blog host as Weel, I love google!

Debby that is a good idea about Pinterest.

I used Blog Lovin & everything transferred simply & easily - have you tried that one?

I know - if blogger wasn't associated with google I'd leave it - but I love blogging.

So that Aveeno is a good cream?

And if I had the money I would have a face lift - one - not thirty! Go for it.

Love, sandie

I'm with you on the frustration about Reader shutting down. I've thought about transferring my blog to WordPress in protest, but what will happen to all my old posts? And who knows if WordPress will be any better than Blogger.

I lost 35 lbs. in my early 50's, and I'm living proof that as we age, our skin loses its elasticity. :-( I asked my doctor about the extra skin (and not just on my face), and she said that the only solution to getting rid of some of that extra skin is surgery. So I'm learning to live with the extra skin ... I don't like it, but I'm learning to live with it.

Good for you on the weight loss!

I also read mostly thru Google Reader and am a little confused about how to proceed. If I have you in my dashboard will that disappear too? I follow some thru Google+ because that is a new option on some blogs...I need to sort it all out somehow. My daughter will be home for Easter and I'm going to see if I can get her to help me figure it out. Good luck!

I am in my late 50's, lost weight last year..and now look like an agin Indian. I hate what I see when I look in the mirror.

Congrats on the weight loss! It's hard work. Thanks for the recommendation of the BB cream, I need to try it out. :)

I'm angry about Google Reader too! Actually angry is a mild word to describe it!

Debby, first of all, way to go on the weight loss! Excess skin is the trade off but at least you are healthier> Did they say anything about toning exercises, by chance? I lost a good bit of weight (which I've regained) about six years ago and did a lot of exercising along with the diet. However, that was a while ago. I wonder what will happen when I lose this time? My muscles are more slack so when my finger returns to functioning and I get the go ahead from the cardio guy I will return to an exercise schedule. Thanks for the face cream suggestion! Ann

I did hear about Reader not being available; that would be frustrating how to figure out how to manage blogs. I hope Dashboard doesn't go away because that's how I keep track of what to read blog wise.

I just looked at myself in the mirror the other day when I was getting dressed after a shower and saw extra skin in my torso area that I didn't remember from before. Oh the joys of getting older. I'm not sure what the procedure is but the one that Debby Boone is advertising on TV, I told my husband I'm getting that one if he dies before me with his insurance money :)

I actually think the end of google reader was an answered prayer for me. I have been trying to figure out how to clean out some of the blogs I don't read anymore and I'm transferring them over manually so I can eliminate. Don't worry, I have already added yours! I do love the ease of a reader so I'm glad there was an option like Blog Lovin' that I actually like better.

LOL I have to tell you I was sure I would never consider any kind of cosmetic procedure and then...I turned 40 and those wrinkles started to appear! Botox is starting to sound pretty good!

I fumed about Google Reader, too. But I am now reading your blog in Feedly. It's also a Google product (I think) and all my blogs transferred automatically. It will take a little getting used to, but it's pretty good.

And don't get me started on wrinkles!

I need to lose about 60 pounds I'm worried my nice full wrinkle free face will be thin and full of wrinkles....wish I could lose weight from the neck down! Any suggestion or tips you can share to get me moving and motivated ?

Working for a dermatologist, I know how great Aveeno is, but I have not heard about this product. I will have to check it out!!

if i lost 40 pounds, i am down 32 in past two years, I would look just like those puppies but not nearly as cute. the problem is after 60 the skin loses the ability to shrink back and weight loss just lets it hang there.

I wish I could say I don't think about botox

I don't think I'd eve get a facelift, but maybe one of those quick lifts? My profile is showing jowls and I do not like that at all.......I am not against doing anything that makes us look our best....so I'm leaving the door open. Of course I would hate to die during cosmetic surgery and have my husband put in my obit.....if only she hadn't been so vain! :). He thinks it's all silly!

It is not easy to get old. I don't like my wrinkles either, but I live with them.

One of the downsides of being thinner. I was never a make-up person, but I do like BB creams. Tinted moisturizer AND sunblock - what's not to like? I've bought both Garnier and Lumene brands and like them both.

I worked for a plastic surgeon for many years. So many ladies came in just because they wanted to be refreshed. Even if it was a forehead lift or eye lift.

I never thought I'd want to do anything but now loosing the weight and all the extra skin on my tummy is making me rethink it. I never got when the doc would say your skin is like a used rubberband once it's been stretched so much it looses it elasticity and I'm seeing that first hand now.
