Before we start my Wednesday Hodgepodge I just want to take
a moment of silence for the people who lost their lives and for all
who were injured from the tragic bombing in Boston.
My prayers are with them and their families.

1. April 15th is the deadline for Americans to file their state and federal income tax returns. What's a job you do on a regular basis that could be described as 'taxing'?
Cleaning our tile floors, they go on forever......but also there are days when the laundry seems taxing too!
2. I'm participating in the April A-Z blog challenge, and the Hodgepodge happens to fall on Day O this week. In keeping with that theme...olives, onions, oysters, okra...of the foods mentioned, what's your favorite O food?
I enjoy olives.

3. What is something memorable you experienced as a child that your own children (or future children/nieces/nephews) will not get to experience?
Off hand I will say Riverview Park back in Chicago which closed its doors back in 1967. But more importantly I am going to say the most wonderful America that I enjoyed back in the day. A place you were not afraid to grow up in, you didn't have to lock your doors, you could play kick the can outside in the dark and you could make investments which actually grew for your future needs.
4. Term limits for our elected officials...your thoughts?
No thoughts....
5. On April 18th, 1775, Paul Revere made his famous 'midnight ride'...when did you last make a midnight ride? Perhaps the fate of a nation wasn't hanging in the balance, but tell us where you were headed anyway.

Nothing is coming to mind at this time.
6. What would freak you out more...a mouse running across your floor or a big fat hairy spider?
Well both would freak me out! I am pretty good at getting the spiders in our house so it would depend on how big and hairy!!! The fact that a mouse would be really hard to catch I am going to say the mouse.

7. I love it when people ask me__for a recipe__?

Today you will not find me here today because I am here:
Mark has business to attend to for a few days and I will be enjoying the area. I may not be around to visit with you for the next few days. We might even do the San Diego Zoo. We haven't been there since the kids were little. Mark may play a little hooky....shush, don't tell anyone! This is when it's so awesome having the kids living here so someone is always home with Skye and I can join Mark on his trips.

It's hard not to miss the relative safety we had as kids in the wake of all the senseless violence. So difficult to comprehend.
Haven't been to San Diego since I was pregnant with my younger son. Have a great time!
Oh me too, I love olives, and so do all my boys :-)
I used to happily wander the streets, I just couldn't imagine letting my kids to the same. It's just so sad.
woo hoo on the zoo, hope you get there with your camera. i love okra first and olives second in the o foods. i can stand a mouse but not a spider. the last time i was out at midnight was about 30 years ago. maintenance on computers is what i find taxing.
Have fun venturing around taking in the sights! :)
I've never been to San Diego, so have tons of fun for me!
I miss those simpler, safer times we grew up in, too.
Enjoy your "get away"! Have fun.
Great answers for #3 and 7, particularly.
And you can have my olives. LOL
Enjoy your day!
#3 yes I totally agree! Your today sounds wonderful....happy Wednesday!
I took a moment of silence - I think that was wonderful.
And I remember Riverview in Chicago - what a fun, fun, fun place!!!
I wish the kids could see it as well.
sandie
I don't mind either spiders or mice. I will just get Wuppie! He loves both!!!
I've never been to San Diego, but would love to visit. My hubs has been and tells me once I experience the weather there I'd never want to leave : ) Enjoy!
Oh I am so happy you get to enjoy this trip together!!! Have fun:)
Oh yes I guess a spider you can squish if you need. but a mouse could probably outrun me and freak me that it's in the house somewhere.
I'm the same I love when people ask for recipes it makes me feel good that something I make they like :).
OHHH I hope he takes a little hooky time with you :). Rick is Palm Springs right now and went to San Diego yesterday, dropped one of the guys off at the zoo yesterday. I'm so jealous that is one thing I haven't been to.
My prayers are with everyone in Boston.
I love San diego. Have a wonderful time.
Hope you have a great time in San Diego!
Mice are NOT fun in the house! We got rid of our bats in our attic and now mice have moved in. (And one came downstairs this winter-yuck! Caught it though.)
It always feels nice to have someone ask for a recipe, doesn't it? :-)
Have fun the next few days!! I hope you make it to the zoo too! Can't wait to see pics! :-)
Ooh...I forgot to be bugged by tiles! Our little 50s kitchen has a tile counter with little tiles that have to be cleaned with an old toothbrush to get the dirt out of the grout. I hate that!
A Zoo day sounds great...but it has to get a little warmer here. We don't have a famous zoo, but if you live in the city limits, Tuesday is free zoo day. That might be a god trip to celebrate if I get the power chair! If you do the zoo, take lots of pictures!!
I'm with you on the mouse. They're faster and, well, I'm just with you on the mouse.
Love your answer about days of not having to lock the doors. Enjoy your little get away :)
Debby, I hope you are having a wonderful time in San Diego and that YELP did not lead you astray. I'm also dying to know where you ate in LA!

Regarding #3...my entire life is something no one will ever experience again. Those safe, beautiful days are long gone.
Enjoy your time away with your husband. You can say you are practicing for retirement.
the mouse!
Beautiful moment of silence and I to grieve the America we grew up in!
Hope you had a great time in San Diego!!!! You know I'm jealous since my grands live ther!
Enjoyed reading your answers today.
I appreciate the moment of silence.
Both Boston and West, Tx needs our prayers.
Hope all is well with you
Love
Maggie
A mouse will make me knock down who ever is in my way...
