1. April showers bring May flowers...what have you been showered with this month?
Flower wise our climbing roses are doing awesome right now. As in special treats I was showered with as awesome trip to San Diego last week. Posts coming on Friday and Sunday.
2. What is the nature of compassion? Is it learned or innate? Can compassion belearned? If you're a parent is this something you've purposely sought to instill in your children, and if so how?
I believe I am compassionate because both of my parents showed wonderful compassion for others. I am also compassionate because of painful things I have lived through. It gave me a great understanding of others feelings. I believe some people are born with it.
There are so many opportunities for teaching compassion to children and I did that every chance I got. It could be as simple as my daughter coming home from school saying her teacher was mean to her today. I told her that I am sure she was not mean but maybe she was going through something very sad in her personal life that put her in a bad mood.
3. Do you prefer to watch romantic comedy or romantic drama...or are you rolling your eyes saying bring on the action flicks?

Romantic comedies are one of my favorites but I'm a sucker for all romantic movies. I do enjoy action movies also and several are on the top of my list for favorite movies!
4. It's April which means baseball season is officially upon us here in the US of A. Humphrey Bogart is quoted as saying "A hot dog at the ballgame beats roast beef at the Ritz." Agree or Disagree?
I am all for having a hot dog at a baseball game, that is definitely fun in my book, but I wouldn't compare it to beef at the Ritz so I disagree.
5. What's something in your community or city that needs fixing or improving?
5. What's something in your community or city that needs fixing or improving?
Haven't go a clue....
6. Share a song you enjoy that mentions flowers or a specific flower in its title.
Well I had to Google this because nothing was coming to mind at all. So my choice is "Days of Wine and Roses" by Henry Mancini whose music I do enjoy.
7. April 22nd is Earth Day...do you believe there's life on other planets? That wasn't the question you were expecting was it?
I do believe that we are not alone here.
8. Insert your own random thought here.
This past weekend Mark and I had the opportunity to watch The Intouchables. What an excellent movie! I hope that you get a chance to see it someday. (It does have subtitles)
"After he becomes a quadriplegic from a paragliding accident,
an aristocrat hires a young man from the projects to be his caretaker."

I always enjoy your answers Debby!!!
I'm gonna watch that movie now that you praised it so much. In my town, there are several intersections which desperately need traffic lights!
Happy Wednesday! :)
i enjoyed reading all your answers, it helps me to know you better. i am the bring on the action flicks person. i do love Christmas movies, but my firs love is action and things that go boom/crash.
right now we are being showered by POLLEN and other wonderful allergens. i think there is a possibility of other life on other planets.
Not only do our parents teach us compassion, but God does to ... using our life experiences to teach us.
That certainly sounds like a wonderful movie ... I'll have to add it to our Blockbuster queue.
Great answers and I will have to check out that movie.
Have a wonderful day!
We need to go to the Ritz for dinner and then to a romantic comedy!
You said we are not alone - what did you mean? God?

I do enjoy romantic movies whether comedic or dramatic. Except for those like PS I Love You. I sobbed during and after. For HOURS. LOL Have a great rest of the week!
We've had cold and wind this month. I'm ready for the summer!

Your flowers are beautiful, they must be getting the just the right mix of rain and sun.
Looks like a wonderful movie. Your song choice was good too.
Honestly i googled for a flower song too!!
oh I love San Diego, we used to go down to the beach & camp in Del Mar every year on Labor day weekend. Oh how i miss those days!
A few reactions Debbie:
1) Showered with a bit of sleet yesterday. Yuk!
2) When I think of compassion I think of the compassionate ways that others have acted towards me when I least deserved it.
3) I like them all.
4) I had a brat at the KC Royals season opener.
5) Inner city schools in KC.
6) The Flower Girl by the Cowsills
7) Well, there are the Vulcans and the Romulans.
8) Saw Life of Pi last weekend and really liked it.
Cheers, Bob
That movie sounds good!
Flowers are lovely. Glad you enjoyed your trip to San Diego. That was my Hubby's home port when he was in the Navy.
Oh that movie sounds like it is right up my alley!
I'll have to see if I can get it from my library.
Days of Wine and Roses! I like that song, too, but haven't heard it in ages.
Your roses are beautiful!
Daffodils are popping up here woohoo, I think spring may finally be here. The first song that mentions a flower that came to my mind is kiss from a rose by Seal or Every Rose Has Its Thorn Guns n Roses:)
I'll put The Intouchables on my list of must see movies. You always have good pics.
I've never heard of that movie, but it sounds intriguing. I'll have to look for it.
I'm definitely a fan of all romantic movies too...comedy or not :-)
I have never had a hot dog at a ball game (cause I've never been to one), but I can imagine that they are the best! :-)
That movie sounds like a good one! I'll have to check it out! :-)
I don't know you in person, but from reading your blog I can tell you have a compassionate heart. Glad you had a fun get away in San Diego....I've never been, but it's on my list.
Thanks for stopping by!
The Intouchables looks like a good one!
I always enjoy reading everything you write. Wow, what beautiful roses. Great Pic.
i love a good decker dog with grilled onions at the texas ranger game. :)
thanks for the memory.
I was hoping I'd find Intouchables on Netflix, bu no such luck!
I don't do baseball or hot dogs (or roast beef, for that matter), but I'd take a dinner at the Ritz!
I haven't heard of that movie, I'll have to see if I can get it!!
I'm so a sucker for a romantic drama. I swear the more it makes me cry the more I love it.
I so agree about teaching them about compassion.
