Mayday: 1. emergency, need assistance
Synonyms: SOS
Translations: The call mayday is the international standard emergency call. However, many local variations also exist.
(Like the one I'm using today!)
I've decided that May is going to be my Mayday/SOS month. As in....this ship (house) is going down if I don't do something about it fast. First you need to know that my mess is not seen by anyone but me unless you happen to open up a certain cabinet or drawer. Also you need to know I am not a hoarder, I just have more things than I need. I am an impulse buyer and a "Oh my God that is so cute" kinda shopper as in....I can't possible live without that item! There comes a point and time when enough is enough, when too much of a good thing is a hindrance to your life, and you start to feel claustrophobic.
That is where my troubles begin. I'm not hooked on phonics but I am definitely hooked on blogger. I have let it consume my days from sunrise to sunset. Yes you have read this before from me...blah, blah, blah! But I am determined to make a difference. I have a plan but I'm not sure if I will be able to stick to it but I am going to give it a try. You may not see me as often as I would like. (or maybe you won't even notice)
I normally write a post three times a week and those might be the only days I visit with people. I can't continue to read 40+ posts daily, comment on each one, answer all my emails and do my "slice of happy" visit on Pinterest! I had a dear friend who doesn't blog anymore say this to me: "Your spending your day reading other peoples lives and not living your own!"
I need to do some deep Spring cleaning. On top of the deep cleaning I need to clean out hutches, cabinets, closets, drawers, wooden blinds and wash windows that haven't been touched in forever since I started blogging! Okay the windows have been washed but not often. (Mark doesn't do windows) Also I need to get rid of the things we no longer need. Many things.....
But rest assured I will be back to normal as soon as I can. Life is going to get very busy in June. I have the long Vegas weekend, then I am going to spend about 17 days with my Dad and then 2 weeks after I get home we have our week in Mammoth Lakes. I just can't ignore my house anymore! This should make Debby a happy camper and I'm sure you want me happy. Wish we luck!

I completely relate, Debby! I haven't been spending much time blogging lately, either. I just have some things going on that need my attention and I haven't found the time to compose posts, much less make my rounds and visit everyone, as much as I'd love to be able to do it all. So, take whatever time you need. Life is so very short and we'll be here whenever you decide to return.
Good luck with it. I suffer from the opposite problem: my wardrobes and closets are beautiful. Everything else is a mess.
Go for it, Debby! I'll be cheering you on from afar, and waiting right here when you get back!
Good for you Debbie, a declutter is good for the soul I think.
I think scheduling blog time is good, in the same way you're scheduling time to clean. I don't blog every day, nor do I read every day. I took yesterday off and tackled some stuff here which felt good. I think you might find it's a relief. Good luck!
ditto to everything you wrote here. a couple of months ago I had to step back and look at my blogging time also, i decided to find a way to keep it to 2 hours a day and it was hard, but i have done it. blogging can easily take over our lives. good luck with the house and all that cleaning.
"Your spending your day reading other peoples lives and not living your own!"
this says it all and I agree...and I'm guilty!
It happens so easily!
Good luck Debby! I can relate to all of this! Soon you will have a decluttered house, thus a decluttered brain. At least that's how it would make me feel. Ann
Debbie, I think it's all about balance and when our lives are out of balance, it just doesn't work well. And, we can become slaves to our stuff and that doesn't work either. I blog 3X a week usually but certainly don't get around to reading blogs everyday. Just don't have that kind of time. Good luck in your endeavor!
i completely relate, dear debby.
de-cluttering always make me feel good.
good luck with it!
Hey don't feel guilty - we all have our times we have to do this - and the one thing we have in common is our love of blogging! Clean your house and come on back.s andie
Good luck I really need to do the same....wish I could wiggle my nose and have it done! Have a wonderful weekend!
Good luck. You'll be happy when you accomplish all you want to.
Good luck! Then you can come do it at my house. K? LOL Oh, that not hooked on phonics = hilarious! I know what you mean about blogging. I am trying to just slow it down a bit. We'll see how it goes.
Wow, good for you! Life has high and low tides... what to do during each tide is individual.
Good luck with the cleaning!
xoxo
I get this Debby. I had to do it too. I was blogging way too much and now have cut back to usually only once a week. Way to go!!!!
Good for you! I promise I will not get mad if you don't comment on all of my posts or reply to all of my comments. I like what your blogger friend said - it is true sometimes!
good luck with that! i should probably do some of that myself. :)
Oh girl my house is a mess with this party and Rick gone I didn't get anything done. I did mop the floor done today that was a big deal lol
Totally get it.
It's so nice to hear that someone else shares my struggle. I have recently been feeling overwhelmed by computer time and all the "commitments" I feel like I need to keep up with - reading others' blogs, Facebook, writing my own blog posts, Twitter . . . It seems never ending.
I'm trying to cut my computer time down to a couple days a week and giving myself permission to not feel guilty if I don't comment on every post by every friend. Occasionally I just have to clear the reader and start over.
As for spring cleaning - I really need to but just haven't gotten the "bug" yet - maybe when the weather finally warms up?
Good luck with your plans.
