Volume 127
1. What question do you often ask yourself?
Why do I stay? That's all your getting but I assure you I have no plans to leave. But if I did I would most likely do my answer to #5!
2. Do you grow roses? What's your favorite color of rose? Ever been given a dozen roses? Where was the prettiest rose or rose garden you remember seeing?
We have a few trellis rose bushes. My favorite is yellow. Yes I have been given a dozen roses many times in my life. I would have to say the beautiful rose gardens at the Huntington Library, Art Collections and Botanical Gardens in San Marino, CA. I hope to go back someday soon because there is a lot of walking to do that I wasn't able to do last time we were there.
3. Do you read the freshness dates on grocery store products? Will you use eggs past their 'use by' date? Take medication that's expired? Buy a dented can?
Always and I do dig for the one that is furthest away!!! Yes I have used eggs past their date but not by much. They use to say they were fresh about a month after the date. I have used expired medication that still worked effectively but it is not a habit of mine. On the rare occasion that I need an Aleve I may take one from the bottle that may have expired with me not knowing. I generally do not buy a dented can.
4. Should athletes be role models?
Yes and no. Some athletes have been excellent role models other not so much. I don't see us ever getting control over who becomes a role model.
5. Edmund Hillary of New Zealand and Tenzing Norgay of Nepal became the first explorers to reach the top of Mt. Everest on this date (May 29) back in 1953. What's something you hope to achieve in your lifetime?
Well I certainly don't have that type of ambition and I wish I would have had more goals when I was younger. I would however love to live near London area or somewhere in Europe for at least a year of my life.
6. What would you do if you had twenty acres of land and the money to develop it any way you choose?
I have no clue but I always thought it would be nice to own a large amount of property and have houses for family members to live in.
7. If I invite you to a party with a 7 PM start time, what time will I actually see you there?
I would get there pretty darn close to 7PM, especially if it was a dinner party.
8. Insert your own random thought here.
I have two trips coming up, one this weekend and one the next weekend. The packing always overwhelms me. Also because I will be gone for 17 days when I go on the Florida trip there are all kinds note I have to write so they can keep on top of things while I am gone. I know they are all capable but there are plants that will die if I don't give explicit details. Of course even with explicit details they have managed to still kill my plants!
Reminder, if you want to send my dad wishes for his 90th birthday this will be your last chance. I leave on the 10th of June.

i would be at your door for the party at 10 to 7, i am always to early for everything and sometimes have had to ride around the neighborhood to keep from being to early.
i look at dates on things IF i remember. last week i bought yougurt that had expired on may 1 and opened and tasted and YUCK...
i don't use anything after the expired date. drive hubby crazy...
if i had 20 acres of land i would build a small log cabin right in the middle, place a very large high fence around it with electric gates and leave all the trees.. no neighbors is my aim in life.
I've always thought I'd like to have enough property to have the children live nearby, too. Especially for the grandkids to be able to come in and out when they felt like it. :))
I hate being the first one to a party. But being late bothers me even more.
Blessings, Joanne
It sounds like everyone's got the similar ideas for #6. ;-)
Good luck on packing ... I'm always paranoid that I'll forget something. I have to keep reminding myself that if I do, I can go buy whatever it is I've forgotten. ;-)
I'm not sure if I've ever received a dozen roses, but I agree with yellow being the prettiest...that and pink ;-) Rich gives me roses for our anniversary each year and I receive the # of roses for the # of years we've been married...so in 4.5 years I'll be to a dozen!! ;-)
I agree with getting to a party close to the set time. I don't like to be early but I don't like to be mre than 5-10 minutes late either.
Sounds like some fun trips coming up! Woohoo!!!!!
The packing would completely overwhelm me.
my rose is white. :) i'd be a mess trying to be away from home for that long. if i had family living on my 20 acres, i'd probably pick up and move to london. ;)
I dig around for the grocery products with the latest exp. date, too! LOL What a pair of grocery shoppers we'd make!
I'm a note writer when I leave, too. I hate entrusting my animals/plants to others! I've decided it's easier to just stay home :)
For all the traveling we've done, and still do, I'm not the world's best packer. I hope you enjoy your travels and have a wonderful time especially with your dad!
It would be wonderful to keep my children and their families close by when the time comes. I hope they are never too far away! I hope your Dad has a wonderful celebration. Safe travels to you!
Yellow roses are so pretty. It is a lot of work to go on vacation, isn't it? And you travel a lot! I know it is worth it though :)
I have the land I just need the money. I'd build a barn.
Apricot-colored roses for me. And twenty acres isn't huge - if I could get a wooded lot, I'd probably build a cottage and leave the rest of it wild.
(I did send a card for your Dad - I hope you got it!)
I would love to live on a large amount of land but more for the ability to house animals than family. haha! I love yellow roses too but someone gave me purple ones many years ago and those are my favorite.
Hope you won't stress too much over the packing and I hope you have 2 great trips.
Debby, I always enjoy your Wednesday Hodgepodge...it's a good way to get to know one another. Think I will join you next Wednesday! I would love to own a large amount of land and have more privacy. Enjoy your trip to Florida!
A lot of us will use items past their "due date". I guess we don't all expect those items to drop dead on the day the label says it will. Enjoy your trips.
Yellow roses my favorite. Safe travels and have fun.
My mums says that pretty soon they will put a best before date on toilet paper and match sticks! I will eat almost anything over the bbd, except meat and to a lesser degree dairy products.
If I had a property that large, I would have enough money to get myself a gardener. I would have him turn that garden into a lovely Italian garden, secluded and lovely with plenty of spaces to sit and enjoy the garden and sunshine!
Oh goodness! YES! Give your dad a big ol' birthday hug from me! I hope he has the happiest birthday EVER! I like the new design on your blog- so pretty! I would have put the same thing on number 1 but it would have upset too many people. Sigh.
I hope your dad has a wonderful birthday!! And my number one is the same but I think for different reasons.
Well if it was a dinner party I would be there close to 7 too. And I have asked the same question. And I would love to live in Europe for awhile too! sandie
Oh goodness I really need to get my card to you!
I can't wait to see pictures from your trips!!
I so could see you living in England.
