Last Thursday I woke up with some strange muscle spasms on my left side that ran down from my neck, across my shoulder, across my chest and my underarm. It wasn't intense just very uncomfortable. So like most of us do I did a search on Google. I didn't think it was my heart but I also knew it wasn't my lungs. I have had a lot of lung pain over the years and even pleurisy but this didn't feel like either of them.
I kinda thought that maybe it was stress related. I've had a lot lately and Tuesday/Wednesday were extra difficult for me. You can get Angina from stress and it seemed to be the best answer although I didn't have that kind of pain. I used a heating pad and took some pain medication. It started to feel better. Woke up Friday morning feeling great so we headed to Las Vegas as planned.

Well since then I have been having the same thing on and off mostly happening during the night. I seem to be having trouble finding a position where my muscles didn't feel strained. During the day it was better. Saturday evening I had to do the heating pad thing again. So I decided that when I got home I would try to get in to see my doctor.
So I saw my doctor on Wednesday. He thinks that it may be a pinched nerve. He gave me some medications and also sent me to get an x-ray of my neck/spine. We decided that I would go see a cardiologist just to make sure it wasn't my heart. Of course with leaving for Florida on Sunday evening I didn't think that would happen. Well the referral went right through and the nurse was able to get me in on Thursday.
So I went to see the cardiologist yesterday. He wasn't able to do the stress test because they only do them twice a month. He thought I would be okay going to Florida. He could feel that my left shoulder is very, very tight compared to my right side. He said to call him if I have any problems from Florida. It just so happens he did all his schooling in Florida. Obviously I should go to the emergency room if I have a problem but we are not seeing anything that indicates that. He gave me nitroglycerin just in case something happens and put me on two low doze aspirin a day and more if I have pain. My EKG was perfect!
So I am getting a echo cardiogram on July 1st. Then we will schedule my Adenosine Cardiac Study which is basically the treadmill stress test only it is done with medication because I can't do the treadmill. They inject a medication through an IV. So the next one they have after I get home from Florida is July 9th which happens to be the week we are in Mammoth Lakes so most likely it will be done later in the month.
I feel good that I saw him and I think that Florida will be the best place for me right now. I will just be relaxing with my dad, watching movies and away from home. (i.e. stress central)

Prayers for you from me!!!
((hugz))
I'll definitely be praying that these spams are definitely from stress and that you will have a relaxing time (with no spasms) in Florida!
Oh Debby, get to Florida, FAST! Relax with your dad and let those spasms melt away. (((hugs)))
so maybe this will prove it is stress, removing your self to a stress free R and R in Florida might just make it go away... it does sound strange, nothing like any of the things you mentioned. where in FL does your dad live.
well the unknown has got to be stressful in itself! i hope florida will be good for you. and i do hope it is something that can be rectified easily enough!
I'll be saying a prayer... I'm sure you're just fine. Stress can do a wallop on the body.. & if you pulled something, that takes time. but good for you for not taking chances. have a great time!

I'm so glad you were able to get in before your trip to Florida. That would have just added more stress! I do hope everything works out and all is well. I also hope you have a great time in Florida. You'll be in my thoughts.
I pray that your stress levels will go down and that you may be able to be strong to bear up under this. Have a great time in Florida. That may be just what the doctor ordered.
Hope you get the rest you need in Florida and that you'll be feeling great when you come home. Take care.
Hope the change of scenery will be good for you! Take care!
Hugs and prayers. Don't ignore symptoms though.
Relax and enjoy Florida!
Sounds like you did just right. I hope you start to feel better and that no other medical things are wrong!
Love, hugs, and prayers.
Relax and take it easy.
xoxo
Florida and time with your Dad will be just what you need. Praying my friend!

I sure will Deb. I hope you have a beautiful time with your dad - stay relaxed - come back and take the test.
I went to Target today and got the chocolate - now that was dark chocolate. Thanks.
Love, sandie
Call me if you need me while in Florida! Not sure what I'll do but I'm GREAT at moral support. lol
I'm glad that you are getting medical attention; so many people ignore this stuff until you can't ignore it any longer.
Have a wonderful time in the best state in the USA! =)
you are in my prayers... Take care of your self and relax
I'm so glad you went to the doctor! Some people wouldn't have gone. Take care of yourself, and relax! I think it will be easier for you to relax since you did go to the doctor. I know that would help meto worryless.
Hi Debby, Lifting you up right now. My dear sil just have two stents put in because she was having issues with acid reflux and they did the stress test and found she had a blockage. Doesn't sound like that is the case with you but glad you went to the right doctor. Have a blessed time in Florida and you are in my prayers.
Hugs, Noreen
Debby, those are all the cardio tests I had as well during my "health scare". If he felt the tension in your neck, I am hoping that it is tension and stress causing your issues. I carry my stress on my left side of my neck as well and go for monthly massages to keep it at bay. Maybe while you are in Florida you could get one.
Glad you went to the doc, that was the smart thing to do. Have a wonderful trip and visit with your dad.
Ann
Ooh, I don't like tests that involve a needle! Hope it's nothing terribly serious.
Praying for you my friend. How scary and I know pain can be so exasperating. Have a wonderful time in Florida!:)
Debbie my prayers are with you my dear!
Now put your feet up and relax don't think about anything with the kids or home.
MUCH love
