1. Picture postcards were first printed back in the mid-1800's and deltiology is the official name for postcard collecting. When did you last send a postcard? Receive one? Do you save postcards sent to you? Do you collect and/or send postcards when you travel?
I sent out postcards two years ago from London and Paris. Can't remember the last on I received but I often save them. I do have a collection of a few that I have bought over the years on vacation.
2. What treat do you most like to indulge in while on vacation?
Well when we vacation each summer to Mammoth Lakes we indulge in bread from the famous Schat's Bakery in Bishop, CA. They also have a smaller shop in Mammoth Lakes and I like to buy the large macaroons half dipped in chocolate. (It is on a small paper plate) We also go to the next town called Lee Vining and get an soft serve ice cream at Mono Cone!
3. Are you good at hiding your feelings?
Maybe in public but certainly not at home. Of course the older I get the less I care about what others think.
4. Does your town/city/county still deliver telephone books to your home? Do you check the yellow pages when searching for a local business number or has the internet replaced the phone book in your home?
Yes they do still deliver telephone books here. We seldom use it but that is mainly because we haven't needed to. I do believe we would search the interenet if needed.
5. Would you rather be first or last?
First is okay with me but of course this is a trick question. Not knowing what it's for makes me feel I would want to go last :)
6. July is National Park and Recreation Month (in America, but everyone can still play along)...where and when were you last in a park? Did you participate in any recreational activities while you were there?
Well we were just in the Inyo National Forest in Mammoth Lakes. We stay in a cabin on Lake George and we rented a boat to go fishing on the lake. Funny story to come! We also went to Bodie California State Historic Park and Inyo National Forest Ancient Bristlecone Forest. I will blog about them soon.
7. What was one of your worst ideas?
Well yesterday I thought I would play around and try to transfer some pictures from my phone and all it did was duplicate my pictures on the phone. Pictures from Florida and Mammoth Lakes, not older ones. So I went through and deleted the duplicates only I apparently deleted the originals so none of the pictures can be sent anywhere else. I have most of them on my camera but not all of them. It made me really mad!
8. Insert your own random thought here.
Getting home from vacation I usually feel a little sad. I love my home but I love being on vacation a lot! I'm not ready to settle into the routine of housework. Also I applied for Social Security yesterday online so now I'm really down and feeling really old.

I am with you on the getting home sadness. I love coming home...always sad to leave. I know what you mean about the social security thing...I will be 60 this year and already thinking about it. I can retire in two years from teaching...and feeling a bit queasy about that. It is all I have really ever done.
I last sent a post card in 1984 while driving a truck all over the usa to my mother to let her know i was alive. any mail that comes in the house, is read and tossed in the trash. i don't send cards and don't keep them....but my mother sent them and kept every one she ever got in her whole life.
#7 - so sorry!
i'd rather be first - get it over with.
got a postcard last mo. from my sis traveling in alaska.
good luck with soc. sec!!
There is something a little sad about returning from vacation. I always feel better the third day back. I want to go to Lake George one day-it looks so pretty. Sorry about your pictures. That sounds like something that would happen to me. Technology is not my friend.
Okay, try this, think about how you feel if you don't know how old you are or feel the effects of aging.....Our body is just a shell holding who we really are and although the shell is aging, you are as young as you think you are. Too bad we can't trade this body in for a new one like we do with our cars.
I will turn 65 in May of next year so I'll be doing the SS thing myself soon.
Sorry about your photos on your phone.
It is hard to come home to mundane chores after being carefree. Hope you feel better soon.

I'm just the opposite: I love getting home from vacation. It makes me love my house all over again when I realize how much I missed it. But I do sit around and dream about living in other places that I have visited. When we are having to demonstrate CPR or something I work, I like to go first, to get it over with. Otherwise, I sit there with a bundle of nerves. :) Congrats! on your SS benefits! (sorry about your photo's)
I resonate with your answer to #3 Debby. The hold that the opinions of others have over me has waned greatly in my ancient years. ツ
That's always my fear of deleting pictures that I don't have any backups of them. Dang it!
I sometimes feel sad too having to return home from vacation. The place I'd rather live is Callaway Gardens in Pine Mountain, Ga. It was so peaceful there. I am so glad that I found your blog on this hop.

Testing......
Soft serve is a must for vacation! Sorry about the picture mishap. I hope you are able to retrieve them somehow.
Oh no! I hate it when technology (or my lack of ability to use technology) makes me lose pictures. It's happened on more than one occasion. That chocolate dipped macaroon looks to die for! YUM!
Coming home from vacation is always a bummer and a slap of reality. We leave for vacation in a little over a week...can't wait! I really want to visit Mammoth Lakes one time...looks like a beautiful place! Please be sure to stop by my blog today and enter my giveaway, if you haven't already! :)
I've sent out a couple of postcards this week. I love to send them.
testing!! one, two, three! :)
:) Nice to visit you today!
I look forward to the funny stories about your trip.

Debby, you are NOT OLD at all, it's just a number. I need to hear your trip stories now....
Don't feel down and old about applying for SS! You're as young as you feel :) Just enjoy drawing the money that you paid in--while you still can, before our government goes completely broke.
I'm so sorry about the loss of some of your photos! That would make me mad, too!
Yes, I agree with the blogger above, enjoy drawing your SS while you can. Our kiddos will probably never have the privilege.
Sounds like you had a lovely trip and I look forward to seeing pics and hearing "more."
Happy rest of the week!
Great hodgepodge!
My favourite treat while on vacation is eating out! We NEVER eat out... so I equate going on vacation with never making dinner.
Wishing you a lovely day.
xoxo
It is a let down coming home from vacation...I never use phone books..I'm ready to go back to the beach....
Hey, just remember...Everyday we get up on this side of the dirt is a good day. The older I get, the more I realize how true that is. :)
Recently I was at Fort Robinson State Park. Not only is it beautiful but it is also full of history.
I think you had a really really nice vacation this time. I like to be last and take my time! lol without pressure. So how old are you girl - to get medicare? sandie
Yay for Social Security and macaroons!
Both definitely good things.
Don't feel old. You've paid into it all these years...now it's time to have fun with your contributions!
the delete button always scares me!! ha!ha! You're not old...just reaping a reward for living long!! :-)
I'm in need of a vacation so much but with my husband being out on disability from his back for 9 months, it isn't happening this year:( Don't feel really old, just think of everything you've accomplished and still want to accomplish!!
I love discovering a favorite bakery and going back each time I'm in that place for a treat.
Hi, just wanted you to know I featured you on my Friday favorite blog posts list. I love your ministry.

I'm sorry about the pictures. My computer corrupted all of my scan disk and I lost a lot of the boys bday parties ;(.
I so think I need a vacation to get away from the normal routine. Ugh
Oh no, I've had things go wonky with photos before and it always bums me out.
