1. Labor Day weekend (in the USA) is approaching...what's something you've labored over this year?
Family matters and I don't mean watching the TV show in reruns........
2. What is one word to describe your 'job' or career?
My only real career has been being a mother. One word:
My only real career has been being a mother. One word:
E.M.O.T.I.O.N.A.L
3. What was your worst or least favorite job ever? Why?
I've had 7 jobs in my life and one of them was being a mother. I can't pick one as being the worse!
4. How do you measure contentment?
When Joyce asks a question like this I usually look up the definition even though I know the meaning because I like to see what the dictionary actually says. (Google)
Contentment: a state of happiness and satisfaction.
"He found contentment in living a simple life in the country"
I found this explanation kind of funny because for many years now I have wanted to buy a farm and live the country thinking that it would bring me contentment. Would it? I think I will try harder with this advice I found.....
The Mayo Clinic has these tips for cultivating contentment:
People who are happy seem to intuitively know that their happiness is the sum of their life choices, and their lives are built on the following pillars:
- Devoting time to family and friends
- Appreciating what they have
- Maintaining an optimistic outlook
- Feeling a sense of purpose
- Living in the moment
Pickles....like them! I can't think of anything that requires them when I eat. They are all my favorite, I like all kinds of pickles.
6. In your current house-town-state, what is it you like living close to?
The mountains and the beach. Within 40 minutes we can be in the snow if we want to or we could walk on the beach if that's our desire for the day! Of course we are only a few hours from San Diego or Las Vegas too.
7. What is one thing on your 'want-to-do' list before summer draws to an official close?
Maybe spend some time at the beach.

I started a new diet on Monday. I have been on a plateau for a very long time. I did really good last year on my low carb diet but this year I had to add whole grains to lower a cholesterol issue I had. That started to throw me off course and as I saw my weight go up I would get frustrated and end up eating something bad...you know the drill!
Anyway this diet includes the whole grains along with low carb except for the dairy part of a low carb diet. Can't have any dairy :( It is a matter of combinations and days you can eat certain ones.

It has taken me weeks to get started because I was so totally confused but once I started putting a plan together it came together for me. So wish me luck and let's hope I can jump off of this plateau and land on my feet again.

Would love to know about your new diet since I live low carb as well. Cancer has created some weight gain so I would love to know what you are doing.
Wishing you great success on your diet! Sure sounds like you live in a perfect area...I'm both a beach and mountains kind of girl! Yes...being a mom is definitely emotional, to say the least! Hope you have an awesome Wednesday, Debby!
I have labored with the book... this year and last... but finally, after the holiday (the week of 9/16) dangled carat will be published!!!!
Good luck with your diet. You've got the best of both worlds ... beach and mountains nearby ... lucky you!
hoping you are successful with your new eating plan!
Funny to see the Family Matters picture, we rented a season from the library and Caleb enjoyed it so we bought him one DVD for his birthday. They are always good for a laugh.
Have a good day!

Low carb has always worked for me (when I actually do it). Love your 'contentment' portion of the post.
I love pickles. I understand about the mother and the labor. What is the name of the diet? I have to do something too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Good luck with the new eating plan! Hope it works for you. I'm trying to tag along on a business trip to CA with my hubs in November. He has a meeting in San Fran, and I'm really hoping it works for me to go. I've never been, and I know everyone loves it.
Mountains and the beach...I want to live where you are (so much for my contentment! LOL) Enjoyed your post!
Labor? what's that? LOL... i try to do as little of it as i can.. one word for my career is STRESS.. said good bye to that 7 years ago. whoo hooo
favorite job ever was CNA in a dialysis unit and 2nd was ER admitting clerk. worst job is harder to pick, i did not like any of them very much. i worked from the time i was 15 until i was 62 and was a mother while doing it, so i pick that as worst, working and being a mother.
i find contentment is easier to come by now that i am old and retired, it was hard to find
Wish I were 40 minutes from beach/mountains. I am 30 from Cheaha Mtn (highest place in Alabama)...but the beach is minimally....5 hours. When I was young I would drive down for the day....lay out until mid afternoon and drive home. I am too old now.
Close to the mountains and the beach! Gotta love that Debby! Took us 13 hours of driving to return home from Aspen on Sunday.
Good luck with your diet.....it is just a life time thing isn't it....this battle with weight..
We watched a documentary recently called HAPPY and it brought out just those items you mentioned...
We love the mountains and plan to spend 5 days there in October...can't wait...

You will do great on your new eating plan. Giving up dairy isn't too hard once you get used to it.
No dairy is tough but no doubt you will adjust. years ago I did a 3 year stint as a vegan, and I found all sorts of alternatives to dairy.
A diet is something I have never had any luck with. Wishing you luck with your.
Hope your new eating plan works. Not sure I could go without dairy...I like my milk and cheese!!
Thank you so much for the follow.
Follow you back on bloglovin and gfc, too.
Lovely greets rom germany
I would love to know your new diet too! Contentment. Is it attainable? That's the first thing that slipped into my mind. Hope it will be one day. I hope things are going well with the family. That has a lot to do with contentment too. Ann
Let me know if your diet works...gonna need something to try as soon as this baby pops!
Oh, motherhood is filled with emotion and sometimes too much!
Glad you found a new way to eat! I've been slacking lately and I'm seeing I around my middle! I have to get myself back under control. Not easy!!
I love pickles. I also love pickled asparagus and okra. Yummy.
You are so right, the job of motherhood is "emotional"--even after our children are grown up!
I wish you much success with your new diet. I've found it harder to stick to mine this summer, but I keep trying!
