DUST BUNNIES
Oh my, I can't remember a time when I have seen so many dust bunnies around our house. I think Santa must have brought them. Okay he didn't but once I get my decorations up I seem to do less cleaning. Does that happen to you?
Sure I vacuumed before Christmas, floors were clean but something happened since then.........they multiplied. Bunnies will be bunnies! So tomorrow I will be catching all of them and they will live happily ever after in my vacuum cleaner bag. (We have been very dry here and lots of Santa Ana winds)
NOW I AM STEPPING UP ON MY SOAPBOX
Christmas is a lot of work. I know you know, but I wish the other people in my house new that. We cook, we clean, we shop, we wrap, we bake, we ship, we send cards, we decorate, we do all that we can do it make it perfect. I don't think there has ever been a year when it wasn't perfect!
Okay, so I slacked off a little the last few weeks. It that a crime? So yesterday I asked my daughter to come and look at what I did in the closet. I should have been finishing up the last of the ornaments but I got side tracked clearing out clothes in our closet. We have a gun safe coming on Monday and needed to make some room for it. I packed up 4 bags of clothes and 1 bad of shoes.
She walks into our bedroom and says "Gosh your room is dusting!" Thank you very much....you live here for free, don't do the few things we ask you to do and you have the nerve to comment on my dusting. You know I have had severe asthma for 40 years and I now have COPD. I spent 18 years on oral steroids just so I could breathe which really did a job on my body. Why can't they comprehend this? Okay stepping down, just wanted this on record!
Today I thought I would go to see August: Osage County but the times don't work for me so I'm going to see Philomena and then shop at Trader Joe's. Anyway I am very excited to see that they have brought back Gravity, 12 Years a Slave, Captain Phillips (I almost typed Captain Ron...ever see that movie?) and Dallas Buyers Club. I will be very busy next week!
(For those who don't follow me on Facebook)
Have a Great Weekend

She should step in and help you dust for sure!
she would not want to hear what would come out of my mouth if said to me... and it would not be soap box... i do hope you said something to her.. bob knows not to say anything at all about what i have done or not done.
last week he said i don't have any underwear left, there are 9 pairs in the hamper. my answer was you know how to turn the washer on the same way i do...
Good luck with those Dust Bunnies, the problem is they keep returning...sigh
My late mom had severe asthma and I certainly sympathize. She should be grateful for all you and your husband do and help you with the cleaning, especially dusting. She should do it w/o being reminded, too.
Have fun at the movie. Look forward to hearing all about it!
I've been drowning in dust here too, since Christmas got put away. Still trying to get caught up on the cleaning. I would like to see Captain Phillips...missed that one in the theatres. We may go see Lone Survivor this weekend. I did see Captain Ron back in the day-it was funny : ) Have a great weekend!
I just realized I hadn't friended you on Facebook so I sent you a friend request. I don't how I missed that button sitting right there on your sidebar. Silly me. LOL You know that I'm in the same boat with you on this one! As a matter of fact, I may have had at least 100 conversations just like that one. :)I'm the very same way as you about Christmas. I clean like crazy before I decorate because I do slack off during the holidays. With little to NO help. Just like you. Wish you lived closer- we could go to the movies together. Or get coffee and commiserate.
I understand the asthma part because I have it...usually it is only on occasion...this past year it has been way too often...people that have never had it don't realize how hard it is to breath...and cleaning dust makes it worse...I'm sorry she treated you that way...she should be more helpful...I love Captain Ron...I laugh every time I see it...oh and it's your home if she doesn't like the way things are done...well she knows where the door is...okay I'm done...
Amen! Christmas is so much work - and I really love it - except when I'm struggling to come up with gift ideas and hubs gives it 15 seconds of contemplation then says "I don't know" and I'm on my own again. :)
Wish there was an easy way to get your daughter to pull her weight, short of kicking them to the curb - that probably would make for a strained relationship. But don't worry about the dust bunnies. I have them by the dozen and I just let them live under the bed and behind the dresser and be happy!
Yes Christmas is A LOT of work!!!! My bunnies are multiplying also, but you know what the kids are at my mother-in-loves for the night and I am taking the night off! PJams here I come cuddled with my baby:) have a great weekend!
Sometimes the soapbox is the way to go Debby!
I was at Traders Joes a few hours ago.
I have seen Captain Ron but do not remember much about it.
Let me know how you liked Philomena.
I wanted to see "Philomena", too. But it is not showing in the theaters near us. Very disappointed!
Sounds like you have a great weekend planned with movie watching, Debby! You do work hard for Christmas to make it perfect for your family. I know they do appreciate it, but I'm sure it would mean more to you if they would also help out with pre and post cleaning. We used to get a lot of dust bunnies up in Murrieta, I think you are right with the weather making them more abundant.
betty
Hi Debby
I have seen Gravity. Not much dialog but wonderful special effects. Me, I'm still waiting to see Hobbit and Catching Fire. I think I'm going by myself. There are a couple of others that look interesting.
Dust Bunnies? Yes. Yesterday, I cleaned blinds, windows and curtains in the kitchen and living room. I keep the blinds pulled up most of the time in these rooms. I couldn't believe how dirty they had gotten all folded up.
Mama Bear
I hate dust. I wish they would make dust resistant furniture. Have fun at the movies.
If you ever figure how to get her to help - let me know!!! I need help here at this end!!!!!!!!!!
You know that.
I am in the same situation girl!
sandie
I have so much dust it's always amazing to me......our neighbor told us once that it's because we live behind a Main Street. And they are fixing to widen that road so the dust will just multiply!!
I have many dustbunnies, but since I consider them pets, I am not bothered by them. After all, they don't eat much! Just dust, of which I have plenty since I have a woodburning oven.
I probably would have replied, it's nice for you to notice, mind helping me clean?
I heard my older son once telling his girlfriend that I didn't take care of the house and I blew a gasket!
HUGS!
You know my thoughts, if you get the help you need then you give help to that person :). I hope one day it will sink in and you'll get some help.
