1. Every January 1st since 1976 Lake Superior University has published a list of words they'd like to see banished from the Queen's English. Words may be banished due to misuse, overuse or just general uselessness (go here to read more about how the words were chosen). Here are the words/phrases they'd like to see banished in 2014- selfie, twerk/twerking, hashtag, Twittersphere, Mr. Mom, T-bone, ____on steroids, the suffixes-ageddon, and -pocalypse added to anything and everything, from the world of politics the words-intellectually/morally bankrupt and Obamacare, and from the world of sports the words-adversity and fan baseWhich of these words/phrases would you most like to see banished from everyday speech and why? Is there a word not on the list you'd like to add?
I will go with Obamacare, I am pretty sick of our government. Since I seldom watch the news and never read a newspaper the others really don't bother me that much. Also everything I watch is taped so I can fast forward through commercials.
2. What one unfinished project nags at you begging to be completed in this new year?
It's the entire house. I sit here most days and do nothing else. TOO MUCH STUFF!

3. When did you last have a bowl of soup? What kind? Homemade or from a can? What's your favorite soup?
Thanksgiving, I made Butternut Squash soup in the crock pot which was homemade. I've thought hard about this and I think my favorite soup would be a broccoli cheese or a potato cheese type of soup.
4. Snowed in, snowed under, snow job...which one most applies to your life in recent days, figuratively speaking.
I'm going with snowed under.
5. What's the funniest movie you've ever seen, or at least one of the funniest?
I have to say when I first saw the movie Hangover I thought it was hysterical. Sure it's a little dirty but so darn funny. After I typed my answer I went and did a search of the funniest movies and Hangover is in the top 10. Here is the list from IMDb if you want to look at it.
6. In general, would you say you're clumsy?
No, I don't feel like I am at all.
7. Elvis Presley was born on Hodgepodge Day (January 8th) back in 1935. Are you an Elvis fan? What's your favorite Elvis tune? If that's too hard, which Elvis tune do you dislike the least? Click here for a list of his songs.
Never been a big fan but my dad tells me I had my bike painted with his favorite colors "Pink and Black." I did find one place that said that but a few others name some other colors. Jul 22, 2009 - Well I know for sure that in the late 50s and ealry 60s (his younger years) that his favourite colours were pink and black . (Yahoo)
My dad was invited to his house but he never went. My dad would let the Elvis Presley Fan Club meet in the movie theater for there meetings and Elvis thought that was nice of him. We also have a photograph signed "To Ray" from Elvis. My father ran several movie theaters in Chicago, IL, he started as an usher when he was in H.S.
8. Insert your own random thought here.
My decorations are still up and I don't care, I love them and really enjoyed having less out this year. I do plan on starting to take them down this Friday. My plan, which I hope I follow through on, is to take down all of my Christmas boxes November 1st of this year and go through all of them starting to pick out my favorites to keep. I just don't need so many decorations. That doesn't include my ornaments, those are not going anywhere yet!

Oh. My.Gosh. Blazing Saddles: the most politically incorrect movie of all times, but oh so funny! I completely forgot about that movie!
Enjoy your decorations! :)
i removed all the decorations from my nook 2 days after new years day, but i kept the tree there and it is burning now.. one year i left the little tree up until the end of Feb.... we love looking at it's lights.
I know what you mean about having too many Christmas decorations! I didn't even make a dent in using mine, this year,--but I can't bear to part with any, just yet!
Hehehe I wrote down Hangover as well. Nothing wrong with adults enjoying adult humor. I'm the worst at taking down decorations. In the past when we've had a tree (didn't get one this year because of our cat) I've left it up till nearly Feb. Tried to stop doing that though since it is a fire hazard.

one of my sis's was a huge elvis fan. :)
Loved your answers. I was a big early Elvis fan....back when he was young and handsome.
My decorations are still up too. 99% due to laziness. =)
I always miss the glow from Christmas lights when they first come down. An enjoyable read today!
I would have kept the Christmas decorations up if I wasn't working. It just gets to be too much when work is involved. I think I'm hoping they don't find funding for my job next school year. I don't think that would make me sad one bit.
My movie "Christmas Vacation" is 55...thanks for posting that link!! I hate taking down Christmas :(
Great answers!!
A photograph signed from Elvis-a keepsake for sure! I know what you mean about Christmas decorations. Each year I use a little less, but never part with one thing.
Wow, that is something about your Dad and Elvis! What a treasure that is to have. I am trying to get rid of the decorations I don't like before boxing them away but not sure if I'll be successful or not ;) So far it's only 2 pillows and 1 standing plush bear.
I had broccoli cheese soup today. One of my favs.
That's a fun list of funny movies! I'll have to check some of them out!
I started to get rid of some decorations too. No reason to keep storing them if I don't put them out :-)
I have a butternut squash sitting on my counter just waiting to be made into butternut squash soup!
How interesting with your dad's career; learned something new about him. Does he still have picture of Elvis?
I agree with you about brocolli/cheese soup; always a good one!
Good idea to sort through your favorites with Christmas decorations and downsize them.
betty
Interesting to learn about you in the Hodgepodge.
I don't have my decor down either. It's making me nuts, but not enough to take them down.
Our decorations are coming down today if its the last thing I do!! I'm so tired of them and I want my house back.
I've been un-decorating all week long. My goal is to finish today so I can clean tomorrow. Now that I can see the surfaces the dust is starting to get to me : )
I've really enjoyed my Christmas decorations this year, and am just taking my time getting it all put away.
Enjoy your decorations as long as you want. Why not? It's your house and if you love them, keep them up. (at least that's this girl's opinion) ha
We took our tree down way to early, which made me kind of sad. I just really wanted to get everything cleaned up and then I was like oh I miss my tree:( I wonder if you will pass your old decorations down to your kids. I love getting decorations from my Mamaw and MIL it is so fun to see the decorations from childhood. I have been to Graceland and I do recall pink and black:)
My decorations are still up, too! I figure they will be there when I get to them! ha! ha!
Blazing Saddles was the first movie we owned on when I was 15...we wore it out playing it over and over....
Great hodgepodge of things here! Butternut Squash soup... yum! I have been working on cleaning my house but I can't get it done fast enough. It's my major project for the beginning of this year!
I always want to try Butternut Squash soup. Not sure I could get the boys to eat it.
