Happy Birthday Tristen
Tristen is 31 today. If you don't know who Tristen is she is our son Adam's best girl and our daughter in law in our hearts. We are heading out to Los Angeles on Sunday to celebrate! I can't wait........
We were able to watch Tristen give a presentation at a UCLA Dissertation Showcase via the computer two weeks ago. There were 10 people giving their dissertations from different departments. (it is a long essay on a particular subject, esp. one written as a requirement for the Doctor of Philosophy degree.)
Tristen did an awesome job and we were so proud of her. People in the audience were able to vote for the best one and Tristen won (woo-hoo) and the prize was $5,000.
Thank you to Joyce for always giving us great questions!

1. March is known as the windy month. Which of the following phrases best fits your March so far...'throw caution to the wind', 'three sheets to the wind', 'run like the wind', or 'see which way the wind blows'?
I'm feeling like I have experience all of those phrases this month but I haven't been three sheets to the wind, maybe just one sheet! It has been one hell of a month and I will be happy to see it go.
2. Your favorite green food? Your favorite dish made with your favorite green food?
The first thing that came to mind was an avocado and the dish would be guacamole although I do love Trader Joe's Haricot Verts (which are a French Green Bean) and I would use then in Green Bean Casserole.
3. Ever been locked out of your home-car-office-anywhere? Do tell!
Yes I have but I don't remember any particular details right now.
4. Yoda, Kermit, Shrek, The Wicked Witch of the West, Oscar the Grouch, The Grinch, or Mike Wazowski (Monsters Inc.)...of the green characters listed, which one's your favorite and why?
I love several of them so this is a hard choice for me. I'm really into Mike Wazowski these days to I will pick him. (I have him in my Jim Shore collection) But Kermit and Shrek....I love you too!
5. "The first task of a leader is to keep hope alive."~Joe Batten Do you agree? Why or why not?
I'm going to say I definitely agree. I believe that hope can keep people alive and depending on the situation you must instruct people to hope.....

6. Share a favorite song with an emotion in it's title.
Sergio Mendes' "Never Gonna Let You Go".....When I was divorced from Mark many, many years ago I would listen to this song over and over and over again. I wanted him back and I wanted him to feel this for me. I cried and cried so many tears to this song.
I always would dream about us getting remarried (which we did) and dancing to this song (which we didn't). The point was that he would never let me go again!!!
7. What's a road trip you'd like to take?
I love road trips, we use to do road trips often from Illinois. I would like to go back to some of the National Parks like Yellowstone and would love to see Mt. Rushmore again.
Actually I am trying to talk Mark into spending a few months after he retires just traveling across the US and I would love to end up in the North East. I would love to visit places like Washington DC, NYC and Maine.

Yay, Tristen! She is beautiful, and they are such a handsome couple! What is she getting her doctorate in? After seeing michiamocandice's pictures from NH, I feel like I also need to take trip up that way and experience that beautiful scenery!
Happy birthday to Tristan. That post zapped me back to defending my dissertation - except it was the old fashioned, pre-interent way, in a room with a bunch of serious professors.
Congrats and Happy Birthday to Tristen! She must be a smart and gifted young woman!!
Congrats to Tristen - that's wonderful! And Happy Birthday to her. And, Hope is a good thing!!

I would love to see Yellowstone someday.
Huge congrats to your son's beautiful and smart girl! How awesome! Have you ever been to Washington, DC? I love that place! Arlington National Cemetary is my favorite!
Happy Birthday and Congrats to Tristen! :-)
Kermit! He is my favourite green character. And Shrek is good too. But Kermit is the best!

Congratulations to Tristen!
I agree with you on #5. You put it so well.
That trip sounds like fun!DH and I talk about taking a leisurely road trip to Seattle (stopping at all the National Parks (including Yellowstone) along the way), getting on a cruise to Alaska, and taking the glass-domed mountain railway back to the US. I don't know that I could stand to be away from home that long, and I definitely know that I wouldn't be able to be away from DD and my Ts that long ... but it would be a fabulous trip! Maybe one of these days.
Happy Birthday Tristen...congrats on the prize...I love road trips...
That's awesome Tristen! Congrats!
I love guacamole too :-)
Oh, wow! Congrats and happy birthday to Tristen.
Maybe you'll get to take that road trip with Mark one of these days :)
Happy birthday to Tristen! WTG to her for winning with that dissertation! One smart young lady! I hope she has a great day and you guys have a fun time celebrating this weekend!
I think that road trip would be wonderful, Debby. I hope you can talk Mark into it. Heck, you might even be able to try to meet up with some of your favorite blogging buddies. I have always talked about wanting to do a similar trip to see the states, there are so many cool things to see and do in our country.
Let's hope April is a better month!
betty
Congratulations to Tristan!!!
That is fabulous.
She sounds like an amazing young lady.
Congratulations and Happy Birthday Tristen. Some of your answers were touching. The one about you and your husband was especially so. Road Trip time sounds fun too. I cannot wait to do mine. Maybe after I retire.
Belated birthday greetings to Tristen.
I so agree with #5. Any more I feel that I do not need as much education as inspiration.
Happy birthday to Tristen!
I have never been a fan of avacado. I have just recently started eating guacamole and that've started trying the avacado before I mix it.
Happy Birthday Tristan! I love avocados especially with margaritas! Hahaha! Have a wonderful weekend!

If you like avocados, you might be interested in checking out the recipe I put on Mrs.4444 cooks this afternoon; it's Chickpea/Avocado Salad Sandwiches.
I keep forgetting about Wednesday Hodgepodge. How early does she post the questions? Thanks.
