WEDNESDAY HODGEPODGE

1. Since these questions are posting on the first day of April it seems only right to ask-when was the last time you did something foolish? If you can't answer that one, try this one-when was the last time someone fooled you?

I do foolish things often but nothing that stands out right now. I don't fool people and I do not like April Fool's Day!

2. What's the last biography or non-fiction book you've read? Was it any good?

I haven't got a clue. I never take the time to read but I buy books often. I want to read but I spend my days reading blogs. Soon I will have to cut my readying list of blogs down and take some time out to read. Life is too short to sit in front of this screen all day long....

3. Garlic-friend or foe? What's your favorite dish made with garlic?

I love garlic, however garlic is not a friend of my husbands so I have never cooked with fresh garlic but I do put in minced garlic equivalents into my recipes and that doesn't seem to stay with him.....

4. Several Spring flower festivals happen in the US during the month of April. Of those listed, which would you most like to see in person...The Skagit Tulip Festival in Skagit Washington, The Dogwood Arts Festival in Knoxville Tennessee, The North Carolina Azalea Festival in Wilmington North Carolina or the Daffodil Festival Weekend on Nantucket Island, Massachussets?

I think I would like to see the Tulip Festival.  I love the Ranunculus fields we see in Carlsbad, CA but they don't have a festival for it!

5. How do you choose which blogs to read?  What is something that will make you stop and read every time? Something that makes you say, 'eh, think I'll skip this one and move on to the next'?

Well I have a long list of regulars that I read and I start from oldest to newest. I don't like skipping but sometimes I must.  I always go to a post that is asking for prayers or newborn babies.

6. April is National Mathematics Education Month so tell us, when did you last use math?

I believe I use simple math almost everyday.

7. In honor of the A-Z challenge kicking off on April 1...choose one word beginning with the letter A to describe your yesterday.

Aggravation....I got a new phone I didn't even ask for and of course the apps I've been use to are all new!!!!

For those of you doing A-Z challenges I hope you have a fun time. I probably won't be around to read each day :)

8. Insert your own random thought here.

We celebrated Tristen's birthday on Sunday. We ate at a new place that they had tried out recently and we loved it. We had a great time and an excellent dinner. The restaurant is called FLORES  and was located at 2023 Sawtelle Blvd. Los Angeles, CA. You order different dishes and share them and everything was delicious.

I love garlic! I even put minced garlic in my roasted sweet potatoes!

I also use math just about every day! Instead of using a calculator, I like figuring things out in my head!

I did a foolish little prank to my hubby for April Fool's Day! Monday night after he went to sleep, I filled about 35 clear plastic cups with water and arranged them in the hallway outside our bedroom. When he woke up in the morning and opened the bedroom door, he exclaimed, "What the?" It was like a foolish obstacle course of water cups, and he could barely get through it to go down the hall! We laughed and laughed!

I love ranunculus and would really love to see masses of them growing like you show in the picture. Beautiful! Glad you had a fun weekend celebrating your son's girl.

Definitely make some time to read - it's so rewarding :-) The bloggers will understand ;-)

I hate April Fool's Day. It seems so mean-sported. I was listening to the radio yesterday as I drove to work and a woman was saying that as a prank, she just sent her a bunch of flowers with the message, "We're pregnant!" She's not. How is that funny?

The birthday dinner sounds wonderful. So glad you all enjoyed your time together.

I think April Fools is mean, too. I saw several 'obvious' pranks on FB yesterday and watched as 'less than intelligent' people fell for them. All the while, I was shaking my head. ;)

I hate April Fools day. There were several mean posts on Facebook...a teacher I worked with supposedly got married.... none of us are sure...it was posted yesterday....and my boss got a new job and will be leaving...Whatever happened to "Your shoes untied?"

they are so cute!

i often have to cut-back on blogs or spend my life at the computer. yet it always seems to creep back up...

They make such a cute couple! I am glad you are going to cut down on your blog reading time, Debby; I did that a while back and "forced" myself to read books; now I'm in the habit of wanting to read every day instead of always being on the computer (except for this month, of course with the challenge). I need to get up to those fields in Carlsbad to see the flowers! Aggravation is a great word to describe learning a new phone.

A friend of ours from church played an April Fool's Day joke on all her friends, saying her family was moving to Florida for her husband to go to the Gordon Ramsay school of culinary delights and they would be gone for a month. I fell for it and felt a little jealous (isn't that awful I would feel that way) but then a moment later up popped "April Fool's" so I don't like jokes either like that!

Pouring here!

I can totally relate to the new phone, new apps. All the new stuff is an aggravation when you're used to something else.

Love your post today! I put too much fresh Garlic in a batch of chili once - it was way tooooo strong. Never did that again. I've been thinking about a new phone, but having to learn a whole bunch of new stuff doesn't appeal to me. I don't like change.

I never seem to have time to read a book except for to Hotrod...we love Berenstein Bears...Dr. Suess..Frog and Toad...

I would love to see the the Dogwood Arts Festival in Knoxville, but that is also where my oldest daughter is in school so that might be a reason too. :-)

You're right about life being short, take time to read a good book!!!

I'm glad the birthday celebration was fun, and the food was good!

Good luck with the new phone. Oh, how I hate change...

Your hodgepodge is my delight!

Happy Birthday to Tristen! Sounds like you guys had a wonderful meal. Last night, just for fun, my mom, sons, and new daughter-in-law went out for a special dinner. There's nothing like the fellowship of family, is there?!

GOD BLESS!

Oh I love new phones so have fun, enjoy the apps. Happy Birthday to Tristen. Glad you had fun.

I didn't realize that garlic disagreed with anyone; that's a bummer!

Guess I don't read enough--I've never heard of Ranunculus!

That restaurant sound fun :)

I'm having more and more trouble keeping up with my blog reading.

I don’t like April Fools Day either. If it was innocent and fun, but it’s usually either stupid or an excuse to bully others.

The restaurant sounds greqat; family style! But I clicked on dessert sample in the menu section and no dessert pooped out of my screen, it wasn’t even in my CD tray! :(

Glad you enjoyed the birthday celebration. She is lovely!

Actually I left spoilers out of my random comment I purpose.. :) I love Carlsbad! My aunt & uncle live there, it's so gorgeous down there.

I'm not a huge fan of April fools day either. Now, during the day I'm usually in an office by myself, so its not a big deal, but when I'm with people I pray that it happens on my day off. :-)

I hope you are starting to get used to your new phone.

I'm with you I'm not a fan of being fooled or fooling someone! Love the picture you posted of the flowers.....I can't wait until something grows here...although I did notice the weeds are well on their way! Have a wonderful day!

I'm not a fan of April Fool's day either. I don't think playing tricks on others is fun. :o(

I'd take any of those festivals and would likely enjoy them all.

Happy rest of the week to you!

Oh yes garlic is a daily thing here :)

Looks like She had a great birthday :)

I am anti-April Fools Day! I think I'm too gullible, I fall for everything :0

The restaurant you went to sounds fantastic!

Fresh garlic - while I love it does not agree with me - BUT when it is cooked or in a paste - it's great.

And I do foolish things all the time!

Kristie said...

I'm so glad you got to go out and celebrate Tristen's birthday! It sounds like a really neat restaurant!

I have a hard time sitting down to read too. It's mostly been reading for reviews lately, but I have a stack that I want to get to!

I love reading, so that takes priority over most other forms of entertainment....that's part of the reason I don't blog or visit blogs as often as I would like.
