Volume 177
Thank you Joyce....
1. I've read several posts and status updates recently describing end of year school field trips. Do you remember taking school field trips as a kid? Where did you go and do you recall a favorite? For any parents responding today, have you ever chaperoned a school field trip, and if so where?
I don't remember a lot of field trips but I do remember 8th grade. Each year the 8th grade classes would go to Springfield, IL on a train to visit Abraham Lincoln's hometown. They would also have an 8th grade play. Well the year before us were extremely disruptive and because of them we were not allowed to do either of those things. Doesn't seem fair does it? Yes I have been on field trips with my children. I remember going to a few museums.
2. What's something you're tired of seeing online?
Truthfully I am tired of seeing things about the Kardashians, Justin Bieber and Miley Cyrus! With Justin and Miley I believe the more coverage they give them the more they do because they crave the attention.
3. June is the month for roses. Which of the following expressions would you say has most recently applied to your life-'everything's coming up roses', 'there's no rose without a thorn', 'came out smelling like a rose', or 'wearing rose-colored glasses'?
I'm not sure, it's too early to tell but I am hopeful that 'everything's coming up roses' for the month! Could I be wearing rose colored glasses????
4. When grilling outdoors do you prefer gas or charcoal? Who does the grilling at your house? What's the last thing you ate that was cooked on a grill?
I'm okay with a gas grill. Charcoal is not that great for us or the environment. Mark has been doing most of the grilling but I've done a lot of grilling over the years. I am thinking the last thing we had was steak but it could have been chicken or pork which we grill most of the time.
5. Are you afraid of the dark?
I am not afraid of darkness in the house at all but I am definitely afraid of the dark outside, especially in the forest.
6. Share a favorite song with a number in it's title.
I think I need more time to think about this one. I am going to say "Your Still the One" by the Doobie Brothers but I am sure that I have a favorite someone in my brain.
7. "Everything that irritates us about others can lead us to an understanding of ourselves."(C.G. Jung). Do you agree? Why or why not?
Maybe.....

Remember my post about the graduation of my great niece Amanda and my dad attending. Here is a picture of them and I think my dad is looking amazing for being a few weeks from turning 91!

Had a great time in Las Vegas. We ended up having our favorite pizza a few times. It's a Chicago thin crust pizza from Aurelio's. They are on the North side of Vegas on Craig street and not near the strip at all.
I had a patty melt from room service because The Orlean's makes a great one and since we don't know if we will be bowling there next year I thought I better just be bad and go for it!

For the first time in 23 years I actually won some money bowling.....$167 to be exact. Also I love playing the Keno machines. I usually play the nickel slots and bet 20 cents each time. I play 10 number and I actually hit 9 out of 10 and won $900. So I went to Vegas with $250. (we only stayed on night) and came home with just under $1,300.....win, win!

Enjoyed your hodgepodge. Your dad and niece look awesome.
That is a wonderful photo of your dad and your niece. Your field trip to Lincoln's hometown sure sounds more interesting than mine to a turkey processing plant! lol
Yes, your dad looks looks just awesome for just shy of 91! And YAY on the win in Vegas, lol. I haven't been in years and years, but I did win a 100 dollars once on a nickle slot. You would have thought is was a 1000 or more the way I got soo excited, lol Enjoy your day!
Love the picture of your dad and great-niece! So sweet.
That wasn't hardly fair to punish you guys for what the previous class did. But that's life. No one said it's fair, did they? :(
Sounds like you had a terrific Vegas trip.

Nope, no one ever said that life was fair. :-(
Your dad looks awesome for being almost 91. I wish my dad looked that great (he turned 91 in March) ... these last couple of years have been so awfully hard on him.
love the graduation pic. :) and again, hooray on wins!
Your dad is a good looking guy at almost 91. Wow. How sweet to have him in your life. My dad is 79 and I wish he could live forever (mom too). Congrats on the wins I've got too addictive of a personality to let myself gamble. Can you say "just take me to the poorhouse"? LOL.
I am so sorry the admin of your school punished your class for the sins of the previous one. I would think your class had proven yourselves better than them by the end of the year?
I love that Doobie Brothers Song. It has always been one of my favorites. I did not realize how many number songs I liked.
Way to go on your win in Vegas you so deserve it all!!
Your dad looks fab!!!!
Oh school trips Caden goes to NW Trek tomorrow. I'm so bummed I can't go.
Fantastic winnings, Debbie! What a sweet picture of your dad and niece! He doesn't look his age for sure! That was sad about your class being denied the field trip because of a previous class' actions. I too remember the field trips; I would always be a wreck that day, afraid I was going to lose a kid I was responsible for.
betty
Hi Debby! You simply must buy me some lottery tickets...you are golden right now! LOL!
Loved the photo of your Dad. How can he be in his nineties? How wonderful that he still has his faculties intact!
Doobie Brothers...love them! I like 'Black Water'. I went to college right by the Mississippi River. And no, it doesn't sound fair that you would have to miss your class trip. Boo!
Happy Wednesday :)

Great picture - your dad does look amazing!
I always chaperone the field trips, even though I don't enjoy it that much. It just seems to mean the world to my kids.
I told YS that I was going to take him to Vegas for his 21st birthday, which will be in 2015. I've never been, so I'm sure I'll be asking you for advice!
Your dad looks wonderful!
It's always fun to read the answers to these questions.
Still the One was a fav song of mine too!
Sounds like your trip to Vegas was a winner all the way around. Congratulations!
Love the picture of your dad. He does look amazing for his age. So glad he could be at the graduation.

Love the pic of your dad and your great niece! He does not look his age at all.
oooo good song!! Happy Hodgepodge!
Get outta here!!!? He's 91?!!! That is unbelievable...he is living a good life.
Your 2nd answer is right on. Me too.
That field trip sounds fun. I liked my ice skating trip cause I was the best skater in the class since I play hockey & that is what made it fun.
All my kids were in the high school Honor Choir, and several times I got to go with them as a chaperon on their spring choir tour to California! They sang in a historic Mission and went to Disneyland, Magic Mountain, Medieval Times, and much more! So fun!
I'm not afraid of the dark itself, but I'm afraid of criminals that might be lurking in the dark!
"One Day More" from Les Miserables! I just saw it on stage again two weeks ago - it's my favorite musical of all time!
What a wonderful picture of your dad!
Totally agree on number 2.
Wow good win!
I've been traveling so am trying to catch up now. Congrats on your wins! Sounds rosy to me : ) Your dad looks fabulous!
