If you follow me on Facebook you would have seen my post about CHANGE. I was complaining about Time Warner changing the lineup of their channels starting next week which means that all of my favorites in my DVR need to be changed. Problem with that is that the Fall season can't be fixed until they premiere again :(
The best point of a DVR is that you don't need to know when they premiere because the DVR just knows! So I was pretty upset about this and I let out some steam.
Well today something else happened and I was fuming. Was on my computer and then the internet went out. I couldn't get it back up. So I called AT&T to see if there was some outage in our area. I was informed that the problem was something else and my blood began to boil. I talked to the woman for a little while but ended up telling the woman that I can't talk right now and hung up on her.
First I called Mark to complained to him, then I calmed down and called them back. Apparently there was an email along with a letter sent out about our areas internet changing. I told her we never received anything. If you didn't respond by a certain date your service would be turned off. Well that's what happened this morning.
If they did send something it would have been up to Mark to have read it. I don't open his mail and he says he saw nothing. I told them that we get so much junk mail from them about going with a bundle that maybe it would have been nice to have the envelope say something like:
So they have to come out to change the modem in the house. Of course the next available appointment is Wednesday....six days from now! I am currently sitting at Starbucks.
God knows I have been up for 2 nights now deciding what I wanted to do this year when I go to Florida and stay with my dad. I thought I wouldn't get a USB port this year and just head over to Starbucks every few days. I can do many things from my phone but I don't care to write a post on it. I'm guessing maybe God wanted me to try it out for a few days.
So I have calmed down which is pretty normal when change happens. You get super pissed, yell at everyone around you and then settle into the change. With each upset I try to look for the Silver Lining. With the newer high speed internet our monthly fee is going down $20. which is a good thing and we are also getting a $100. gift card. I'm going to make sure I grab that when it comes in the mail even if is addressed to Mark!
Hope everyone has a nice weekend and hope to be back soon......

Annoying!!!
But that reminds me--I got a call from our provider yesterday about something similar. Guess I'll have to make the call too. Yuck!
I'm with ya....I HATE change. And "Change" usually doesn't mean things get better - most of the time they get worse; e.g., when Blogger changed their whole look, etc. I liked it the way it was. Now, half the time my blog list won't appear.
awww! just a p.i.t.a! :)
I do change about as well as you do. But seriously, if they're going to change something, they need to be CLEAR about it. Today was the last day of school. We were looking at the FINAL calendar for 2014-2015 and discovered that they made changes AFTER they sent out the FINAL calendar but TOLD NO ONE. Idiots. LOL
I would have been really ticked, too.
Glad everything worked out.
What a Bummer!
I would hate to have to reset all the programming on the DVR. UGH! Nothing one can do about it but getting to "sound off" helps!
Credit card companies used to do this too, it's now been deemed illegal.
That would have made me mad too! Our bank starting charging for paper statements. The only notice they offered was one sentence on the top of a bank statement. So when the charge showed up and I called I wasn't happy. Then when I figured out we were getting paper statements because I never could sign up for paperless statements because their system would never let me do it. I also learned that we would no longer have free checking on those calls so we changed banks. It was such a pain but I refuse to pay bank fees.
Not fun! But you got a trip to Starbucks, as well as that gift you are going to snatch from the mail. Ann
I don't think this would have made me happy either, Debby. Something as big as disconnecting internet service should not be handled in a letter form like that. I would have been livid if it happened here since I depend on the internet for my livelihood and to have to wait six days to get someone here would have been a disaster! I'm glad it all got worked out in the end, and it will be less expensive for you in the long run, but wow, what a hassle!
betty
I do not handle change well either. In fact that was ONE of the things I hated about my last job; no two days were ever the same, it was constant change. Totally out of my comfort zone.
I don't blame you for being angry about that whole mess!
so sorry Debby...I understand how you feel...they don't always make things very clear...and then it turns in to a big hassle...I would grab that gift card too...for the aggravation of it all....have a good weekend...I haven't been a good blogger lately...but I do enjoy keeping up with you through Facebook...
HORRORS on the DVR snaffu, now i have something else to fret about. we are brighthouse but they are owned by Timewarner... the DVR would push me over the edge just like you because of the same reasons.
my friend use Microsoft for her email, called MSN and hers locked her out and she can't get in. they sent her some pop up that warned her and told her what would happen. she did not do anything until the day before when the pop up said 24 hours... i tried to help but did not even know Microsoft had email...
computer are wonderfufl and hateful at the same time. i to hate change.
my kindle paperwhite had an update last week in the middle of my Jack reacher novel. it just shut down and restarted and then everything in there had changed,. i was beside myself
Yes I can tell you things like this drive me wild. It seems the older and older I get the less and less I like things to change. Its hard enough for me to get things to work etc., without "THEM" changing things I don't want changed, lol.
I could only smile when reading this, because I just feel for you, how your blood was boiling!! I would have reacted the same way! :)
Sorry for the aggravations! Change is hard, but it does keep things interesting!! :-)
Maybe they should put notifications like this in a neon pink envelope. That might get my attention - um, maybe.
Any issues with techical stuff drives me insane. I just want it to work when I want it to work or need it to work. Just that simple!! Hope things get better!
Sorry about all the aggravation.
I'm not big with change either! Sorry about that but at least when your at Starbucks have their passion ice tea shaken its low calorie and so yummy! Happy weekend!
This sort of made me laugh b/c I can relate. I'm not a fan of changes but they happen all the time. HOpe this week is much easier, with no changes and simple fun times.
I am not one to laugh at other peoples' misfortune, but you tell it in such a humorous way! I hate change! And my life has seen numerous big changes in the last two years. I feel unsettled, to say the least.
I had to chuckle (just a bit) about the cable woes. My brother just emailed me that he'd like me to update my mom's cable service, get a new digital box, etc. on my next visit down the hill. I'd rather get a root canal.
Sigh.
xo
Hi Debby! At least you didn't yell at the lady on the phone! I know what you mean about technology. I am just hopeless. But the mail? I don't know if I would have caught that or not, but for a big change like this, you would think they'd send more than just one notice?
Hey, I'm rooting for that gift card!!
Blessings,
Ceil
I've always heard it said, "Nobody likes change, except a baby with a dirty diaper." lol
I love the saying you have posted. I imagine God laughs at my plans quite often.
Hope all the changes go smoothly!
So sorry about all of this.
We have been having fits with phone service. Our old carrier does not offer service in the new. These folks act like NOTHING like this has ever come up before!!!!! Going on 2 weeks and still no phone!
LOL I say take the $100 towards a new purse :).
I don't do well with change either and I hate when things go wrong with the DVR. I don't get a lot of time to watch so it's nice when I can whatever I like is there recorded.
Oh that is all very frustrating! Sorry you had to go through it.
Hi there, So folks love adventures and constant change-not me. But I have a Papa who loves holding my hand when I don't want to move forward. Great post.
Have a wonderful evening.
Hugs,
Noreen
Ug, those changes can be so frustrating, and so is having no internet!! Maybe a game of bowling would help :)
