1. "Summer is like childhood. It's full of warm memories and gone too soon."~Kellie Elmore  Agree or disagree? Share something you loved about the summers of your childhood.
I would have to agree with that and thank God for the memories. I loved going to my grandparents summer home in Union Pier, MI.

My fondest memory is about the little store in town that sold beach items, some clothes and a large variety of candy. I remember the sound of the screen door opening and the sound of the sandy floor beneath out feet.

2. Are you a fan of auto racing-NASCAR, Indy, Stock, Grand Prix, etc? Ever been to a race in person? Any desire to do this?  Do you know a lot about cars? Do you notice particular makes and models when you're out and about?
I am not a fan but have seen a few races. Have never been in person but would like to go to one. What I would really like to do is race one of those cars. Yes I do notice makes and models when I am out and about.

3. What's something you think is too serious to be joked about? Or do you think anything and everything is fair game?
I do believe that some things are too serious to be joked about like death and cancer but it also depends on the situation and the people you are with. We all know that laughter can be some of the best medicine.

4. July 29th is National Lasagna Day. Are you a fan? Do you have a great recipe, and if so where did it come from? If given a choice would you choose a plate of lasagna or a plate of spaghetti?
Yes I am definitely a fan. I have a very simple recipe that my mother use to make. I would choose lasagna!

5. What's a simple pleasure you'd miss if it were not a regular part of your life?
My friend connections through Blogging and Facebook. Maybe that glass of wine at the end of a stressful day. Maybe that piece of cheesecake at the end of a special dinner out. Definitely the tradition of Friday night pizza which has been around since I was a young girl!

6. If you could be the CEO of any company, which would you choose?
That's a tough question......maybe Facebook, Google or McDonald's.

7. August is just around the bend...bid farewell to July in exactly seven words.
Vacation and engagement....you were so awesome!

8. Insert your own random thought here.
My friend Christine who I surprised in Florida had this posted on her blog recently and I want to share it with you:

"Good news on Rea! After 4 cycles of chemo, she had a full body MIBG scan and an MRI scan of the knee. The lesions on the knee completely vanished, all gone and the fracture is healing nicely. The MIBG scan showed the primary tumor to have shrunk considerably and the surgeon is very confident that she can remove it completely. No other cancer cells were found." ......Amen!

Rea is having her surgery today so please keep her in your prayers!

It's funny what things make the biggest impression on us as a child. Loved your store memory!

That's wonderful news about Rea. Praying her surgery goes well today!

Such great news about Rea...God is so GOOD! I can make a mean meatless lasagna, but I prefer spaghetti if given the choice.

All I could think of for July was the heat. With all this talk of lasagna, I'm going to have to turn on the oven anyway and make some! :)

That is good news! My mom is also fine after she had the kidney stone removed. The only time she was in pain was the afternoon after her surgery. Anyway it is still a worry some process.
Anyway i have agreed with everyones #3, i dont think people should joke about death either, i don't know why its funny to some people.

Praying for Rea; thanks so much for the update.

I like reading your childhood memories of the little store where the screen door slammed shut. Funny what we remember.

That random gave me goosebumps!! How extraordinary!

Your very first answer just made my day...what a fantastic summer memory. Hmmmmm, the sound of sandy floors...and the screen door opening. What a wonderful picture that conjures.

Yay, we both chose lasagna. And #7...what a glorious July you had.

Very encouraging news for Rea. Your answer to #1 brought back such wonderful memories of an old village store, my sandy bare feet and that old screen door. Thanks. :-)

I would choose lasagna over spaghetti also, but I am pretty picky! I especially love crockpot lasagna :)

Very happy to hear your friend's good news! Isn't it cool how a noise like the screen door opening and the feel of the sand under your feet are things you remember and remind you of fun times? Simple joys.

Lovely to read your questions and answers. My nephews are NASCAR nuts and I think I've been to one race. Heck, I'm so old and my memory is so spotty, I'm not sure. I remember LOUD, DIRTY, STINKY so, yeah, must have been to one race at the Richmond Speedway -lol-. I did go to Summit Point, WV for the purpose of going into their defensive driving school...it's where White House Drivers and others train. After riding with me, my friend said, "You don't need to go"; still not sure what he meant by that? Something good, I want to think.
Salvation is too serious to be joked about; wanting to spend eternity in heaven means I want even my enemies to share it with me. Cancer and death...Dave and I would joke about cancer because it kept us from crying. I told him one time, "If I joke about it, I can handle it but if I start crying, I'll never stop." That's still true.
Thank you for the good news; always welcome especially when there's a connection.
God bless you Debby.

I think most things can be joked about in the right context, but you have to know your audience.

There is so much good about summer - I loved the way it felt wide pen and endless when I was a kid.

I am not sure who Rea is BUT I am happy for her and will pray. I didn't even know you could get cancer by the knee. I hate cancer.
