~ PLUS OUR QUEEN MARY EXPERIENCE ~
In memory of the day Princess Diana passed away I thought this might be a good day to share some of my photos from last Sunday when we visited the Queen Mary in Long Beach, CA to visit the Princess Diana Exhibit and enjoy a Windsor Tea.
The exhibit was wonderful and the history that they shared through the years of the Royal Family was fascinating. They had so many letter, newspapers, personal items, royal invitations, etc. and I enjoyed them immensely.
You were not allowed to take any photos at all and I respected that request. It was a pleasure to also see so many of Diana's things on display. Letter's that she wrote, she was very big on sending out Thank You notes and some really funny cards to her friends. A park bench was on display that was given to her and Prince Charles. I did find a photo of it online and you can see the C & D on the back.
Seeing several of her dresses was a big thrill of mine too. They were so pretty. I can't imagine having clothes tailor made just for me! There was also many collectible dolls on display with her outfits on them. Many of the items on display come from personal collections that are on loan to the exhibit. We spent about 1 1/2 hours in the exhibit.
We walked around the ship a little bit and I of course went through the gift shops. Guess what....I didn't buy anything. That's got to be a first. I am really getting better at not buying things because I know how many things I have to get rid of when we downsize.
Then it was off to the Tea Room for our 2:15 pm reservation for the Windsor Tea Experience. This was so awesome, I enjoyed each moment of it. I had a White Ginger Pear tea that was excellent. (Tea Forte) The tea sandwiches, scones and desserts were delicious.

We had a lovely table at a window.....
When we were driving home I was thanking Mark for taking me and I just broke into tears. It was exactly how I had hoped it would be and very high on my list of one of the best day's of my life.
July 1, 1961 - August 31, 1997
This is my personal photo from the day of her funeral when I watched it on TV. I also attended a memorial service at one of our local churches which helped me to feel like I honored her in a special way. I will never forget how I felt when I had heard about her death.......

she was so beautiful and kind.. and that made her sons better people to.. i would love to see the ship and the exhibit and of course would eat my HALF of 32 items in the tea..
I am so glad you got to go to this. She truly was a wonderful, sweet, kind, loving human being who touched the world in a positive way. The tea sounds amazing! I'll have to search for some of that. :)
she was such an amazing lady…. It is so sad her life was cut so short
she touched a lot of people - and obviously you were one of them. glad the tour and tea were wonderful.
So glad you were able to go. I still remember the accident. We had been at my grandparents that night and when I came home and turned on the TV it was all over the news. It's one of those where you wonder what her life would look like now if she were still alive.
Its amazing its been that many years since Princess Diana died. I did feel she had a rough time being a royal, but I think she handled it the best she could.
The exhibit sounded wonderful, Debby. It was good that people were willing to share what they had of hers so that others could get to see how truly special a person she was.
Tea sounded delicious too!
Truly an experience you will remember for a long time!

What a special trip and how touching to see so many of Diana's things. She made such a huge impact on the world. I was so sad when she died.
That is very encouraging that about Princess Diana writing thank you notes and sending funny cards.
It gives an insight to her personality.
Thank you for sharing this experience with us. I found it fascinating. What a great day - so glad you got to do it!
A few years ago, my daughter's and some other gals in our family. Had a girl's weekend...hotel rooms booked and tickets were bought several months ahead of time, to see the traveling exhibit of Diana. On display was her wedding gown and other beautiful gowns and outfits that we all recognized, jewels, the royal crown and lots of beautiful photo's...from her birth till her sad death. Our hotel, even had a replica of their wedding cake on display and you could order a slice in the main dining room...it was delicious! Like yours it was a wonderful experience.
She was loved by so many - She had such beauty, grace, and dignity. What a sad end for such a lovely Princess.
Good morning!
