Liebster Award

My blog friend Michelle F. at New Horizon Reviews nominated me for a Liebster Award. Thank you Michelle, so nice of you to think of me! So I will answer her questions and if you want to join in feel free to do so.

Here We Go.......

(1) What made you start a blog?
A friend of mine was talking about her blog and then I had seen a show of Oprah's about blogger's. I was going through a lot of medical issues at the time, I couldn't do a lot physically and it opened a whole new world for me.

(2) What is one tip you would offer a new blogger?
Don't worry about the numbers. Sure we all want followers but you can also get overextended with following everyone you meet and it can become more of a job than a pleasure.

(3) Where does your blogging inspiration come from?
I blog about my family and events in our lives. I am writing in hopes that someday my future grandchildren will be able to read my posts and get a sense of knowing all about me in a special way.

(4) What do you like best about blogging?
The people I have meet and the woman I can truly call my friends.

(5) Are you a morning person? Why/Why not?
I guess that is a yes but only in the sense that I am up and on my computer most days at 6:00 am. Otherwise it takes me awhile to get going and if I make an appointment somewhere I tend to make them around 10:30 or later.

(6) Who has the biggest influence on you? Why?
I don't have anyone in particular in my life who influenced me although I do know that my mother had a huge heart for others and that definitely was something I picked up on. I have always admired Princess Diana, Mother Teresa and Oprah.

(7) What is your favorite book?
I'm not an avid reader so I don't feel qualified to answer this one but I do like where a book can take you.

(8) What is the first book you remember reading?
Haven't got a clue!

(9) How do you feel about print books versus e-books?
I imagine if I was an avid reader I would embrace the e-book thing but I love having books on a shelf and I will continue to buy books in print for a very long time. Like having a land line for a phone I still like some of the old school inventions.

(10) What is your favorite piece of furniture? Why?
My favorite piece of furniture is my Singer sewing machine. It belonged to my fraternal grandfather. I don't have any memories of him working on it. I remember it sitting on their back porch but back in the day he was a tailor.

HAVE A WONDERFUL WEEKEND

Fun sewing machine. First book you remember reading? Whew, I can't remember back that far! I do remember, though, holing up under the covers when I had strep throat in 5th grade and reading Gone With the Wind over the few days I was home sick from school.

oh, the singer is awesome! we had a similar cabinet in our home, but the machine had been taken out of it. we had a free-standing old singer that my mother and father both used.

congrats on the award, Debby! I enjoyed reading your answers. I never thought I would enjoy the e-reading I'm doing using son's tablet, but I really am enjoying it, LOL. It is different though holding that instead of a book. We are thinking of giving up our landline if we can find a decent internet price and cable price without having to bundle things together. We rarely use our landline and the calls that come in are all people looking to sell something.

I love that sewing machine; what a great thing to have from your grandfather!

I did not know that is how you started blogging. You are right about the numbers. And I like the same thing you do about blogging - the friends!!!!!!!!!!!

It makes me so sad to see your singer. My dad had saved one for me from my grandmother. My mom of course since it wasnt' from her family didn't care for it. She gave it to this lady that was suppose to help with my wedding. Let's just say she didn't help but still took it :(. Kills me

Hi Debby, thank you so much for taking the time to answer the questions! I think it is interesting how you began blogging. I started blogging as a homeschool mom. I remember seeing something about blogging online. I asked my guys `what is a blog`? I thought it was something new and they said blogs have been around for a while. Little did I know. So one of my son's helped set me up and here I am today :)

I love meeting like-minded women and dream of meeting them in person one day.

I love your Singer sewing machine. It's in very good condition.

Have a great weekend!

It is wonderful that you have your grandfather's sewing machine. What a treasure! I'm a morning person like you. I'm always up very early, 5:30 or 6, but will never make an early appointment. :-)

Hi Debby, So good to catch up here. Got to tell you that as I was laying on the beach in Hawaii, praying for the energy to be able to hike to our car and not get sick, I lifted all my friends up who need prayer and you were among them. I also want to say I have a singer machine that was my mom's-still have the sewing machine but it isn't running and I use the treadle to display my Amish figurines. Love yours too.
Have a great Labor Day weekend.
Hugs, Noreen

Really enjoyed this post. I just decided one day to start a blog - it sounded like a fun way to share thoughts, ideas and photos. It's been very rewarding, but also very time consuming!
