Thank you Joyce.....
1. As August draws to a close, share what's been your favorite weekend of the entire summer?
That's not fair, I have had several favorite weekends this summer. I had a few weekends with my family in Florida in June which were awesome.
Had a fun time with Adam in Mammoth Lakes in July. We had a fun weekend with Adam & Tristen a few weeks ago at the Getty Villa. Most recent favorite weekend would be this last one at the Princess Diana Exhibit on the Queen Mary and having a Windsor Tea with Mark in the Tea Room on the Queen Mary!

2. Labor Day is marked in the US of A on Monday, September 1st. What paying job have you held that you've loved the most? Liked the least?
My list of jobs is a small one. I've always taken pride in the fact that I've worked for companies that people know like the Regional Office in Oak Brook, IL for Hormel. The main office for Ace Hardware where I worked on new store set ups. I don't have a least favorite but I did enjoy my 7 years at Pam's Hallmark store in Fontana, CA.
3. Does the new school year start before or after Labor Day where you live? When do you think it should begin? There is much discussion now about older students having later start times to their school day...your thoughts?
I know that the schools have already started around here, some actually started a few weeks ago. I think it is crazy. School should start after summer's end which to me is the Tuesday after Labor Day!
4. What's something you've worked at recently that could be deemed a 'labor of love'?
I'm working on a book of pictures of us at family gatherings like Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter and Birthday's to give to Adam & Tristen when they move away. So when they miss us they can just look at us in the book!
5.Which of the following work idioms can you most relate to right now...'A woman's work is never done.', 'All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.' 'Many hands make light work.'
A woman's work is never done......
6. Crab or lobster or thanks, but no thanks? Favorite way to have your choice prepared?
I am going to say lobster but don't know much about how it's prepared.
7. Albert Einstein is quoted as saying, 'Three rules of work: Out of clutter find simplicity; From discord find harmony; In the middle of difficulty lies opportunity.' Which of the three do you consider to be the most important? Share one of your own 'rules of work'.
I don't have any rules of work right now. I kinda get things done under pressure. What I can say is that I really want to find simplicity! It is where and how I want to live the rest of my life so it is most important to me right now.
8. Insert your own random thought here.
Hopefully I will get some posts together from our Getty Villa visit from two weeks ago and the Queen Mary visit last weekend. I started feeling ill on Friday, very tight chest and pain when breathing. No way I was going to miss my Queen Mary/Diana Exhibit/Tea experience!
If you follow me on Facebook you probably saw that I went to the doctor yesterday.......
Eight weeks of a very high dose of steroids, lowering it each week as we go along. Antibiotic if needed, only if I start to cough up phlegm and of course bed rest. I'm really down about it. Taking steroids and weight loss do not go together well and I have a class reunion coming up next months.

I hope you're feeling better quickly Debby. Steroids are tough on the body, but if you need them you need them, so do what you need to do to be well. I love photo books. That's a sweet gift.
so sorry about the illness! and steroids, too, but if they relieve your breathing issues...
i loved your labor of love. so sweet.
Oh, so sorry you started feeling so bad. But glad you got to visit the Queen Mary despite going down with it. I hope the meds work and that they will get you healthy in no time again. Good luck and a good recovery!
sorry to hear you are sick, that is a long time for the steroids, i do so hate taking them. hope you feel better soon...I loved Diana and have never forgotten her weeding.. notice i say HER wedding. LOL i think schoool should be after labor day, but here it is 2 weeks before, they are in their second week now. we don't have kids so no matter really
That is an awesome book.
I recently went through our long portfolio of pictures and put them on DVD's for family. We had over 3,000 on our computer. Now I need to scan those I can and put them on DVD's. I work best under pressure, as you mentioned.
Get better soon!!
oh no! Get well soon! ;/
I always started school after labor day growing up, for some reason they've all changed now. Either way its still hot in Aug/Sept or May/June where i live. Kids still play sports and run miles in the PE classes.
Sorry to hear you're not feeling well. Praying for healing.
Sounds like you had a wonderful summer with lots of nice visits and getaways.
Hope you feel better quickly. I love the idea of the picture book you're making. Looking forward to hearing about your weekends.
Oh yeah, having Windsor Tea on the Queen Mary would rank up there are #1 for me, well maybe behind the Family Reunion. What a fantastic time that must have been!
#3....I so agree with your opinion.
Hope you feel better, much better for your class reunion.
I realized i was wrong about the deaths, i think someone had a heart attack from the aftermath of the quake. A few number of people are in critical condition though. ;(
What a nice book you are making for the kids to have their memories of the family. They will come back and you can add those to it!
I enjoyed your Hodgepodge!! Glad you saw the doctor and are following his/her orders! Hope you feel better soon. Steroids are not good when you are trying to lose weight - I agree!
I'm sure that Adam and Tristen will love their photo book. I've made and shared several with family members, who always seem to appreciate them.
I hope you feel better soon, especially with a class reunion coming up! Take care.
Oh I hate taking steroids. I am sorry you have to be on them.
I remember reading something on Facebook but I'm so darn tired I can't keep anything in my head. I hope you're feeling better. I can't stand being sick. I hope you'll take some pictures of that wonderful book you're making so we can see a sample!
Glad to hear her refer to summer's end as the Tuesday after Labor Day! I'm not a big fan of summertime--fall is my favorite season!!! Schools here started back the first week of August. I think Nashville-area schools went back August 2nd or something!
although I complain about the stress level of my job I LOVE it!
Oh My goodness! I hope you start feeling better. Good thing you went to the Dr. I am not good at going when I feel bad. I always think it will pass.
I love photo books! Are you doing it thru Shutterfly? They always have specials.
Take care!!
Us women do have a lot going on, don't we? I hope you feel better! Sounds pretty rough! Thanks for visiting Our Side of the Mountain!
Loved your responses...especially your labor of love. That would rock in my books.
This HodgePodge just showed up on my reader, Debby, though you wrote it a few days ago. Weird. I did think it was strange that you didn't have a HodgePodege because you usually participate. My Dashboard must be messed up. Sorry I didn't see this sooner.
You did have a great summer! It would be hard to pick on event from that indeed!
Sorry to hear you weren't feeling well and you had to go to the doctor. I know the last thing you want is to be on steroids, but I know it is the effective thing that helps in flares like this.
I think it is wonderful you are putting together that book for Adam and Tristen; a great memory thing they will have!
hope you are feeling a bit better by now
betty
