I'm listing Boyhood here even though I didn't see it at the show. I watched it on DVD over the weekend. It had never come to the theaters in my area.
I definitely liked this movie. The sheer magnitude of filming this movie over a period of 12 years with the same actors makes it truly amazing. It is a long movie and slow at times but definitely a must see movie.
The life of a young man, Mason, from age 5 to age 18.
"Filmed over 12 years with the same cast, Richard Linklater's BOYHOOD is a groundbreaking story of growing up as seen through the eyes of a child named Mason (a breakthrough performance by Ellar Coltrane), who literally grows up on screen before our eyes." IMDb
I was so happy to see Still Alice arrive at our theater last Friday. Since Julianne Moore is up for an Oscar I had really wanted to see this movie.
Wow, this movie is excellent and I'm so glad I went to see it. We all know the devastation that Alzheimer's brings to a family and it is even more disturbing when it happens at a young age. Julianne Moore did an amazing job.
"Alice Howland, happily married with three grown children, is a renowned linguistics professor who starts to forget words. When she receives a devastating diagnosis, Alice and her family find their bonds tested." IMDb
The Academy Awards are on Sunday night and I will be glued to my TV all day with all the before shows. I have a post coming up on Sunday with some trivia I recently came across.
Have a nice weekend. I should be back for Wednesday Hodgepodge although it might be later in the day. Not sure I will be doing anything on the computer when we are in Palm Springs, especially when I have the opportunity to be playing the machines........

The Oscars are this weekend? I might just record them and watch them during the day. Not sure what it would do to my recovery otherwise. Besides I can then just fast forward the boring bits!
Glad to see a review of these two movies, they're both ones I've wanted to see!
Good early morning~
Thank you for your reviews of these two movies. I have never heard of BOYHOOD but I just saw a trailer for STILL ALICE and I really want to see that one. Hopefully I'll be able to watch the Academy Awards on Sunday but if not, I'll join Mara and record it for another day.
Blessings~

I always enjoy your reviews. Hope you had a wonderful getaway.
I read Still Alice and it haunted me for weeks afterwards. I don't know if I can handle the movie version!
You make me want to go to the movies. I never go to the movies. Wait and watch on tv.
