Have you ever had a day when you wanted to make a "Citizen's Arrest", or maybe two? Well mine was yesterday. So are you ready for my rant?
Driving to bowling there was a woman behind me on the freeway which was stop and go. She kept looking down at the passenger seat then looking back up. I figured she was looking over at her phone and it was starting to really irritate me.
This went on for a long time and I was so concerned that she wouldn't be able to stop and just might run into me. I was about to change lanes but then she changed lanes.
I could see that she was still doing that in the next lane. Then I saw what she was doing because she decided to hold the stack of papers up in front of her and read while she drove. What is with people today? Anyway after about 30 minutes she was done with that and started to put on her entire face of make-up.
After bowling I was driving home on the freeway and I notice this VW in the next lane weaving back and forth nearly hitting into a semi truck. When I was next to her I could see she was looking down and apparently texting.

Then at one point she was in front of me, in the fast lane and there would be these huge gaps in front of her because she wasn't paying attention and she even swerved onto the shoulder a few times. Again....what is up with people?
You know I don't care if they hurt themselves but when you are in a position to hurt others is just pisses me off! Okay I'm done....

you have hit the nail on the head with my favorite rant and my pet peeve. cell phone users, texters, make up on, combing hair, it is getting worse by the day... we have seen the same woman in the same SUV make the same turn at the four way stop THREE times in the past 10 days and she is on her phone and turn right and goes off the road almost taking out the stop sign...we have both had near head on collisons from cell phone users and only 3 blocks from home. our city has a lot of 4 way stop signs, and people are doing all of the above while driving.. rant on
You know I love a good rant! I really hate it when people don't pay attention to the road. It's so dangerous, and they think that they won't get into an accident...but then it happens! And those of us who are paying attention suffer.
i once worked with a woman who was known to READ A BOOK while driving. the make-up thing is SO dangerous, too.
I bet if you could check MOST accidents occur when the driver is doing something else.
I always said I was going to make a sign that said "STOP TEXTING" or "GET OFF YOUR PHONE" so I could hold it up while driving by people. That bothers me so bad. It's the new "drunk driving"
The world is insane! Look at the woman who died because she jumped out of her fancy car to check damages by the gate at the train stop! Operative words people! Stop ,yet she jumps in her car and is hit by the train on the tracks,causing others on the commuter train to die as well. I would hate for my car to be damaged but there is a time and place for such nonsense. A car is a thing, a life can not be replaced! Our government meddles in our busy constantly but there are no driving rules against texting and talking and driving! I am dumbfounded! ENjoy your weekend by begin safe and staying away form these self centered foolish people!
I totally agree with you - if they have a death wish, that's fine, just don't take anyone else with ya! I never text or talk on my phone while driving.

Good rant! I agree. Why have our phones become so important every minute? My niece was rear ended this week by someone who was texting. It only takes a few seconds of distraction to cause an accident. Not worth it.
I think if you can get their attention by coming alongside them it is fine to shout PUT DOWN YOUR PHONE!!! Most people don't think they're a traffic hazard. It's a pet peeve of mine. People who text either weave, or they're moving along with traffic and suddenly slow down to a crawl. I'm with you on your rant : ) Enjoy your weekend.
That drives me crazy!!! I wag my finger at them (not that one) and mouth "shame on you!" My Mr. and girls laugh at me but I don't care!! Enjoy your weekend and stay safe.

Wow it always makes me smh at the people and what they do in a moving vehicle!
That is so frustrating, Debby, with those drivers! And they aren't the only ones out there doing stuff like this! We've seen people eating, talking on their phones, putting on makeup, texting, etc., while driving. Ridiculous!!

I am surprised by the number of distracted drivers I come across these days.
I'm surprised there aren't more accidents because of people texting and driving.
You had me at "Citizen's Arrreesstttt!" I just had to stop and read your post, because I love Gomer and everything about the Andy Griffith Show. (just all the B&W episodes, though!) I agree wholeheartedly. So many people are so stupid. I liked Rebecca Jo's idea about holding up signs for other drivers to see! I've thought of doing that numerous times!! And, also Joyce who said she'd like to pull up next to them and shout at them. (that reminds me of the scene in Planes, Trains & Automobiles!) And although those things would be funny, and might make a point, they would also distract the driver(s) further. I think the thing I hate the most, though, is TAIL-GATING! (and I don't mean a party before a sporting event!) So many times, a driver will be right on my (car's) butt...and it makes me so mad. Especially if I'm driving the speed limit or faster, and not even in the "fast" lane!! Grrr...! Thanks for your rant and allowing me to have mine! LOL
Hi Debby! Oh my gosh, I totally remember 'Citizens Arrest'! And my husband absolutely has a cow every time he sees someone texting and driving. He says he wants to be deputized so he can stop people.
Seriously, there are a lot of people who still do this, even though it's against the law around here. So dangerous. And reading? On the expressway? Are you kidding me???
