Volume 217
Thank you Joyce :)
1. Speaking of April 15th...what's the most 'taxing' thing you've done recently?
Taxing for me would be going to the dealer yesterday to get some things done on my car. I've put it off for a few reasons. One reason is that I tend to be lazy. The second is that the dealer I go to is about 40 miles away from where I live and requires a long time in traffic. It is Irvine Mini and it is where I have bought both of my Mini Coopers.
We have a dealership about 20 minutes from the house that I will use in an emergency, like when some light comes one, but I don't like them. They always say I need this done or that done and I feel that they rip me off each time I've been there. Actually they tried to sell me breaks about a year ago and I said no.
So going for service can be taxing for me however Irvine Mini makes it a breeze. (I made it taxing for several days in my head) They do what needs to be done without pressuring me into getting things done that are not necessary and only a way for a dealership to make more money.
2. When did you last take a taxi somewhere and where was that somewhere?
Oh my, I think the last time I took a taxi was probably in Las Vegas. Once you are there and all settled in it is just easier to take a cab to another place than to drive there. Other than that I would say it was almost four years ago in Europe. I road in a lot of taxi's while I was there.
3. What's something you can do today that you couldn't do a year ago?
I'm going to say that I have been able to let go of collectible things that I thought I would never be able to live without!
4. How often is chicken (in some form or fashion) on your menu at home? Which of the following would you most like to see on your table tonight...a chicken salad sandwich, your mom's fried chicken, a Chick-fil-A meal, Cracker Barrel's chicken n' dumplings, a roast chicken dinner with all the trimmings, or 'hold the chicken, I'm a vegetarian'...?
We make skinless chicken breasts a few times a month. We either grill them or I bake them in the oven. I would probably want a roasted chicken from Costco on my table.
5. What was your favorite television program when you were a kid? What characters do you remember the most?
I have to say that my very favorite show was The Flintstones cartoon, along with The Jetsons. After that it would probably be Father Knows Best, Leave it to Beaver and Hazel.
Of course I enjoyed I love Lucy, Mr. Ed, The Andy Griffith Show and when I think about it I would probably have to say that I really loved The Dick Van Dyke Show!
6. What was the last piece of 'art' you made?
I haven't done anything artistic in a long time other than put some of my photos on canvas for my wall of places we have been.

Good Morning, Oh, you have listed some of my fav old tv shows. The early Leave It To Beaver episodes were really cute, especially.
I love your canvas wall! It's been fun reading the answers to the TV question today. Reminding me of all kinds of shows I'd forgotten about. Like Hazel : ) I loved the Jetsons too. Enjoy your day...hope there is a beach break in your near future plans!
I need to take my minivan in to be serviced soon, too, just to make sure it's working okay. It's almost 10 years old!
The roasted chickens from Costco are really good! I usually get mine from Jewel, though.
Yup, I've been pretty frustrated with my internet lately. Sometimes it's just so slow. I'm on DSL.
i have watched all the shows you mentioned in reruns zillions of times, but when i was a kid we had no TV so no favorite show from childhood... take me to chic fi la please. bob loves Publix fried chicken. we eat chicken about 3 times a month.
I would be a vegetarian if i had a cook to make all the wonderful recipes for me. since i can't cook worth a darn they are beyond me.
taxi was probably NYC or Vegas. i need to go to my honda dealer - about 45 min. away. then i sit and wait. long day. :( i'd love to have my mother's pressure cooked chicken one more time. it was wonderful. i loved bonanza. :)
I've never ridden in a taxi. Nor have I ever taken an airplane trip. I really want to take the plane trip!!
I need a time out too!!! :)
Oh i so want to go to the beach right now. :) My neighbor is going to Cancun, i wish i can go!
I love the roasted chicken from Costco! You can make a lot of meals easily with that.
The internet certainly has changed over the years, i remember way back when it was so slow you can make a sandwich, come back and your page would be loaded. ;)
Have a great day!
Debby, I love the picture canvas wall! What a great way to remember all the fun trips and experiences. Watch that attitude my sweet friend. Just kidding, but love the poster.
Love your time out idea. You have a Mini- you are so cool! I love those cars. Flinstones was one of my favorites too. We enjoy Leave it to Beaver, since it is on one of the classic channels we have. I crack up everytime I see June cleaning in her pearls and high heels!
Mini Coopers were just two of the cars my x son in law owned when he died in February.
Thanks for visiting me.

Wouldn't it be nice to spend a day at the beach under an umbrella reading a good book? Here it is a bit cool today; hoping it is warmer there :)
I like that collection of photos you did.
I always don't like to take my vehicle in for servicing; glad Irvine Minis is a good place to go. I know we had a great mechanic in Murrieta, haven't found anything here yet and car needs some minor repairs.
betty
I love your wall of places you've been :)
Yes! I could certainly use a 'time out' day at the beach right about now, too!!!
Your photos are so beautiful, Debby...love the canvases! Great idea! You can never go wrong with "The Andy Griffith Show"!
I enjoyed everything about this post, but I really chuckled at your poster. That sounds like the perfect remedy for many of our problems. Lol
Costco's chicken is the best....and it's cheaper than buying a chicken and cooking it yourself. ;-) Can't beat that with a stick.
I love your arty wall. I remember seeing a photo of it when there were only a few photos on it. It looks great.
Debby,
I love the idea of taking places we love and putting them on canvas. What a nice reminder of getting away from it all as you enter your home. LOVE it!
Love and Hugs ~ Kat
I have chicken a lot too! And you won't believe this - I loved the Flintstones. What did you get rid of? And a taxi in Vegas - not bad. Have a good night. sandie
Stopping by from the Wednesday Hodgepodge - it's my first week. I love your blogs! I am a big Hallmark Christmas ornament collector as well. So nice to meet you.
Love the wall of Oh The Places You Have Been....awesome.
your #8 sounds good to me!
I love some of the tv shows you named. I still watch reruns of Andy Griffith. I really like your gallery wall of the places you've been and I totally agree with that random thought.
My neighbor has a mini cooper and it looks fun to drive.
I was a huge Flintstones fan when I was a kid.
I liked the Jetsons and the Flintstones as a kid. I just googled it, and the first episode of Jetsons aired about a week before I was born.
Everytime I see that Wall I keep saying one day! If Rick would allow me to I so will do! Maybe when we move I'll have a focal wall.
I so want to go to the beach :)
