First movie up, Hot Pursuit. I actually saw this one on Mother's Day with Mark and Amber. This movie was fun and entertaining. We all enjoyed it!
"An uptight and by-the-book cop tries to protect the outgoing widow of a drug boss as they race through Texas pursued by crooked cops and murderous gunmen."
I went to see D Train because I like James Marsden and Jack Black. This movie was just okay, nothing special and a little strange. Not much else to say about it!
"The head of a high school reunion committee travels to Los Angeles to track down the most popular guy from his graduating class and convince him to go to the reunion."
Mark went with me to see Pitch Perfect 2 at a special Thursday night showing. We had a nice dinner beforehand and we definitely enjoyed the movie. (I had Mark watch the first one since he hadn't seen it)
This movie was fun but we both felt it needed more performances. It had more of a personal story line compared to the singing the first one had. If you watch it there is something during the credits worth seeing.
"After a humiliating command performance at Lincoln Center, the Barden Bellas enter an international competition that no American group has ever won in order to regain their status and right to perform."
I went to see True Story with Jonah Hill and James Franco. I like both of them as actors and this was a more serious role for both of them. The story was very good and it is based on a true story, however I felt like I needed more when I left the theater. I definitely think it is worth seeing.
"When disgraced New York Times reporter Michael Finkel meets accused killer Christian Longo - who has taken on Finkel's identity - his investigation morphs into a game of cat-and-mouse."
I went to see Tomorrowland on opening day. This movie was fun, I really enjoyed it. You can't go wrong with Disney and George Clooney right? Also I am really enjoying Britt Robertson, an up and coming actress for sure. This is maybe the 4th movie I have seen her in and apparently she has done a lot of TV also.
"Bound by a shared destiny, a teen bursting with scientific curiosity and a former boy-genius inventor embark on a mission to unearth the secrets of a place somewhere in time and space that exists in their collective memory."
I went to see Far from the Madding Crowd on the 26th of May. I am not always into what I call "period movies" but I did want to see this one and it was very good. I definitely recommend it.
"In Victorian England, the independent and headstrong Bathsheba Everdene attracts three very different suitors: Gabriel Oak, a sheep farmer; Frank Troy, a reckless Sergeant; and William Boldwood, a prosperous and mature bachelor."
It has been really awesome that one of our local theaters who had the $5. Tuesday was bought out about six months ago. The new owners have kept the $5. Tuesday's, $4. Senior Wednesday's and added a $5. Thursday to the mix. Also you can see all movies for $5. for the first showing of the day.
The best part is that they now get excellent movies all the time and all of these movies were at that theater! Just a mile down the road is the Edward's (Regal Group) theater that they have been in competition with.
We bought 9 tickets in total for these movies which was only $44.00, you can't beat that!!

good the theater is so close to you since you are the queen of movie goers... that is a super price for the tickets
WOW! You are quite the movie goer. I love to go but my husband isn't a big fan. We thought about going this weekend and ended up staying at home.
you are a theater junkie, but that's okay! :) it's in your blood. :)
of the set you showed, i'd be most interested in 'true story'.
My top pick to see out of these would be Far From the Madding Crowd. I loved Hardy's books as a teenager.
I like that the movie theater kept the prices low and added even an extra day of them. It is ridiculous what some movie theaters want for a ticket (and don't get me started on how much they charge for a bottle of water :)
Great array of movies you saw, Debby! Always enjoy reading your reviews of them.
betty
I couldn't even imagine what Tomorrowland is actually about. The previews don't give it much.
That's disappointing about Pitch Perfect 2 - I want MORE singing!!!
I want to see Tomorrowland really bad. We're fortunate here too. We have a local theater that plays all movies all the time for $5.00. They are first run movies too. I just need to go more often. Seems I have trouble finding the time. lol
WOW that is a great price to go see the movies. One of the reason's we don't go is the cost it is for all 4 of us. Sounds like some great movies!
Yes, it's nice the theater is so close - and the price was good too!
I want to see Far From The Maddening Crowd - but I have been so busy! I also love the price of your theater there - I have to say about a half hour from here we have one that charges about $2.50 I need to get going.

Debby, have you ever thought about doing this for a local newspaper? Seriously, you are so good at this. And it's nice to have movie reviews from one of the *audience* instead of some professional!
Hi, The only two movies I saw were True Story and Far From The Maddening Crowd-love the latter, it was one of the best movies I've seen. I found the first one intriguing.
Hope you have a great week; I'll do my best to pop in.
Hugs,
Noreen
I read Far from the Madding Crowd years and years ago and found it to be quite a slug to get through, so it would need a lot to tempt me to go see that film.
I saw Pitch Perfect on tv the other day and it was okay. Nothing special really. So, number two will have to wait until tv as well: not forking out a huge amount of money to go to the cinema for that.
The one with George Clooney however sounds quite good. I might just go and see that.
Wow! The theater prices are awesome! I'd like to see Tomorrowland sometime, but we usually wait until movies come out on dvd because it is so expensive. (It wouldn't be bad if we could resist the temptation to buy popcorn each time-lol!)
