GOODBYE SEPTEMBER
Volume 237
Thank you Joyce
1. Something on your October calendar that makes you smile?
It will be celebrating my birthday in Pittsburgh on Saturday with Adam and Tristen. (of course we all wish Amber was with us to celebrate)
2. Food for the soul or music for the soul...which camp are you in? Tell us why.
2. Food for the soul or music for the soul...which camp are you in? Tell us why.
I always take pleasure in a nice meal so I will choose food for the soul. However yesterday I heard some smooth jazz being played and I realized that I don't listen to it often enough. It felt so calming.
3. What are two or three things you've learned recently as the result of an online search?
I am always learning new facts each and everyday from searching the internet. Especially things that are good for your health. The most recent was about Ginger:
4. Share your favorite game day recipe. You can describe it, post the how-to, or add a link to the actual recipe.
Well I still like to make Lipton's Onion Soup dip and I now use half Fage Greek Yogurt with half sour cream. We almost always make Rotel Queso. Something else I like to make is a Hormel Chili dip and I often use the vegetarian chili so Amber can enjoy it too.
You spread a can of Hormel chili on the bottom of a 8 x 8 pan. Spread a softened brick of cream cheese on top and then put shredded cheese on top. We usually make it with a Jalapeno Jack Cheese or Cheddar. Bake in the oven until bubbly and melted.

5. What are your five essential steps for creating the perfect morning routine?
No routine here but I hope to have one someday.
6. What small thing have you taken note of today?
Being in the Midwest this week and driving from Indianapolis to Springfield, OH yesterday I enjoyed seeing some color changes in the leaves. Not much yet but definitely something compared to Southern California.
7. Sum up your September in seven words or less.
I blinked and you were gone.....
8. Insert your own random thought here.
I was so upset with myself yesterday. I wanted to get up early, go to the pool, shower and then enjoy a light breakfast in the Concierge Lounge at Marriott. Because Mark travels and stays pretty much exclusively at Marriott's he has access to this lounge.
Wouldn't you know that I could not fall asleep Monday night at all. I was up until at least 3 am and come 6 am there was no way I was getting out of bed. I was so bummed.

Huge fan of Lipton Onion Soup dip...it does not get any better than that. Hope sleep is better. Loved the Sept description....it is true. I blinked and it was gone. It seems like we started school yesterday...not 9 weeks ago. We are 1/4 finished with the school year. Griefus!
Thank you for the recipes. Yummy!
And you are so right, we blinked and September was gone.
We had an amazing September here in Wisconsin. Last night was our first cold night!!
Sometimes sleep is better than breakfast : ) Enjoy your time in the midwest. Leaves are beginning to turn in the mountains here (we're about thirty minutes away), but I walked this morning and it was really warm. Felt more summery than fall, which I'm still okay with. Safe travels home!
Oh, but tomorrow's another day!
That Hormel chili recipe sounds really different and yummy. I can't wait to share it with my son, who takes his game-day food to a whole new level.
Have a fun day!
3am - yikes! I hate when I cant go to sleep. Most nights though, I can't stay awake :)
You have me wanting to Google ginger root now :)
Happy Early Bday, yeah to be celebrating with Adam and Tristen!!
I'll have to read up on ginger!
Researching my ancestors means I am finding out things left right and center all the time. So far, I have found baptists/mennonites, one person who left his wife and then emigrated!! His wife divorced him a few years later. I found single mothers in the 1800's, murders and murderers and a whole lot more. It is so exciting every time I find something new!!
Have tons of fun celebrating your special day with Adam and Tristen! Hope it's the best day ever!
Happy birthday EARLY! I know ginger is good for you, but it bothers my stomach. I love October and fall. And I think food, music, and art are all good for the soul.
Enjoy your travels and celebrating your birthday with family. By the way, happy birthday :)
Kathy
I totally agree with your words about September, where did it go? I think it is neat to drive through the part of the country you are driving through; fun to see other places. I like to look at different ways houses are constructed etc. Keep enjoying!
betty
#7 is so true. *sigh*
Nice post. Hope you have a great birthday celebration.
Sorry you missed the Marriott lounge. I've stayed at a Marriott only once, the Longwharf in Boston. It was wonderful!!! Have a wonderful birthday celebration in Pittsburgh. I love that city.

I hope the rest of your trip goes the way you want. Enjoy your birthday celebration!
I definitely want to try that dip recipe. I used to make it with just the sour cream and onion soup mix but this sounds so much tastier! Of course, no more eating it with chips. I'll have to use veggies. Sigh. I hope you're having a wonderful birthday celebration!
