1. In two or three sentences tell us what Veteran's Day means to you?
2. What's your favorite film with a patriotic theme woven into the storyline?
I looked at a list and there are so many good ones. I'm going to say American Sniper since it is fresh in my mind. They also listed Independence Day which is a favorite of mine.
3. Flu shot-yes or no? If you answered no, do you plan to get a flu shot? If not, why not? Have you ever had the flu?
No I do not get the flu shot and I do not plan on getting one! I did get the pneumonia shot last year and the shingles shot earlier this year.
4. I've seen lots of people posting pictures of their Christmas trees up and decorated. Many stores have had Christmas on display since well before Halloween. Red cups are back at Starbucks, sans the holiday decor, and that has some people up in arms. What are your thoughts on all the holiday ruckus this second week of November?
Since I worked retail at Hallmark for 7 years it is the next item used to fill the shelves after Halloween. They do have Thanksgiving items out and cards but Christmas is the big money maker.
I do not have my trees up but will probably start in a few weeks. With all of my ornaments it takes a lot of time for me to complete them.
We are not having Thanksgiving company but Adam and Tristen will be here for Christmas. I want to be ready to enjoy their time with us so having the trees done early would bring me peace.
5. What 'critter' are you most afraid of encountering unexpectedly? Why that one?
I think it is a toss up between a snake and a bear.
6. Do you like building things? What's the last thing you 'built'?
No I do not enjoy building things.
7. In keeping with this month's theme of gratitude, what are you most grateful for that brings beauty to your daily life?
The mountains, I am in awe of them. Growing up in Illinois and living there for 38 years it was pretty flat. When we came to California I just couldn't get enough of them and I appreciate their beauty daily.
8. Insert your own random thought here.
So I ended up seeing my doctor so he could look at my shin injury. When I made the appointment they said he needed to go over my recent blood work. Well you know how many scenarios ran through my mind.
So he gave me an ointment and more antibiotics, along with a tetanus shot. It is healing but still has a way to go. So then I said what about my blood work. He said "It's all great, no need to test for another year."
I was so happy to hear that. I have been eating a healthy diet, no sweets and low carb. It has paid off! Now I just have to get busy and start a walking routine......

hooray for good blood results! and keep that shin healing!
enjoyed this hodgepodge.
Sounds like a good report from the doctor, Debby :) Its amazing how just cutting back on a few things can improve our health :)
betty
Glad you got a good report on your bloodwork.
Hi Debbie. I've missed the Hodgepodge and am trying to get back to it. Glad you received a good report at the doctor's. I need to get back to my clean eating Paleo style. Your post reminded me I haven't seen American Sniper. Have to make sure I rent that. I don't go to the movies so wait for movies to come out on DVD and then often forget the ones I wanted to see!
Hi, I'm visiting from the hodgepodge! I love that you do multiple trees! I plan on doing that too when we get moved into our log home.
Great job on the healthy blood work! Temptation is around every corner so you really are doing amazing!
Debby, I am so happy for you regarding the good blood-work results. You are doing a great job of staying healthy and it is paying off. Way to go YOU! Oh that view of the mountains! Is it yours? We don't have mountains in Louisiana either although we do have an occasional forest covered rolling hill that we never take for granted. The mountains are my favorite get-away. Hope you have a great week and get out there and walk? :)
my biggest fear is from the 2 legged animals that roam our streets. i can hand a critter but not the bad guys
my favorite movie is The Patriot, we have watched it 3 or 4 times
i think they put Christmas out early because there is no way to pay todays prices all in a few weeks. we saw the trees at home depot and they were 250 to 500 dollars without ornaments
your trees are beautiful all of them
Sounds like a good report from the doctor, then. That's a relief, isn't it! Keep up the good work!
Yeah for the good doctor report! You have beautiful trees!
Congrats on the encouraging results from your doctor!
Isn't American Sniper an amazing film? I'm still bummed that it wasn't nominated for last year's Oscar.
I don't know that we'll put up a tree this year. May I just print out your pictures and hang in my family room? :)))
I'm sorry to hear that you hurt your shin (painful, I know!), but am happy to hear your good test results :) Ed and I are on a "heart healthy" diet (low fats, low cholesterol, low salt) and I'm beginning to drop a pound or two. I'm hoping my test results will be good, also.
I always think of you at Christmas, because I think we both love our decorations more than the average person :)
You do have a beautiful view. I doubt I'll decorate this year since I'm planning on going to the mountains. I'll decorate up there. I've got to get away from here for a while.
You have so many wonderful decorations. I did not know you worked there. Your home is so beautiful! Why not a flu shot? I got one.
Great fence - and glad to hear you're healing up. I saw American Sniper. It made me appreciate even more what our men/women sacrifice to serve and protect our country.
Good news on the blood work!
I never get a flu shot but a couple of years ago I got a shingles vaccine. I was only 50 so I had to pay for it out of pocket, but both my brother and brother in aw got shingle sin their 40's and I didn't want to wait another 10 years and take the risk.
Thankful for the good blood work.
Your pretty trees/ornaments remind me of my late mom. She was visually impaired but loved to collect ornaments and we shared such special times decorating.
I have gotten the flu shot for over 20 years... I swear by it!
I don think I could be tire of a view like that. Love mountains. I'm glad your blood work came back normal.
I didn't even know there was a pneumonia shot! I used to get a flu shot but don't anymore. I really like the movie Independence Day as well! I've seen it so many times!
So grateful for your good Dr's report. I loved your post...and the pictures.
I'm so pleased to hear about the good report from the doctor!! I'm a worrywart, so yes, I know the *scenarios* you speak of! Glad to hear that things are good, and that your injury is healing.
Yup, know what you're talking about with California mountains! I now live IN them, and they are a sight to behold! No bears up here, but snakes...yes! And my hubby loves to *catch and release* them! After showing them to me!! I've only had one unexpected encounter with a snake (like less than a foot away), which I thought was a rattlesnake, but it turned out to be a garter snake. Well, tell that to my racing heart!!!
GOD BLESS!
I'm so glad you got a good report. I love the mountains too, they're one of my happy places. We can see mountains from the lake, which I'm excited about. Hope you've had a nice week. I'm running behind on reading, but trying to catch up a little now.
I'm so behind, sorry catching up.
I love love love your trees! I look forward to every year seeing them all done up!
