Volume 246
Thank you Joyce!
1. Did you watch The Charlie Brown Christmas special Monday night? Who's your favorite Peanuts character and why?
I didn't watch it this year. I like Sally. I'm not sure why other than she has blonde hair so I probably related to her when I was younger and I was the younger sister.

Would you agree?
I agree, it sounds like a good place to unwind!

2. Describe a sound from your childhood. What does this sound bring to mind?
I've thought hard about this question but a sound is not coming to mind. So I asked Mark and he said the ice cream truck bell or the sound of the truck that sprayed those awful chemicals for the mosquitoes!!!!

3. You've won a trip to a winter wonderland...would that excite you? Which one of the following would you most want to experience (or which one would you dislike the least)-see the Aurora Borealis in Norway, stay in Sweden's Ice Hotel, go dogsledding in Lapland Finland, take a winter wildlife safari in Yellowstone or celebrate Winter Carnival in Quebec?
Yes, a free trip would excite me. Take me to Norway to watch the Aurora Borealis. Dogsledding sounds like fun too!

4. Who or what keeps you humble?
I'm going to say that doing my handkerchief ministry for the last six years has kept me humble. We might complain about our children not listening or driving us crazy but nothing compares to having your child pass away.

5. What part of preparing for Christmas do you like the most? Explain.
Decorating the tree's and the house is what I like the most. I love living in my Winter Wonderland for 6 weeks or longer depending on my mood.
I am however having a hard time getting into the mood right now. Also I do enjoy gift giving!

6. Gingerbread-yay or nay? Is making a gingerbread house part of your family holiday tradition?
I do like gingerbread. We have spent the last few years decorating gingerbread house's as a tradition but we didn't do it last year. Not sure yet about this year.

7. What's one thing you want to start, do, or complete before the calendar rolls into a new year?
I am embarrassed to say this but I did mention before in a post earlier this year. My goal this year was to see a dentist because I've neglected going. I only have 29 more days to accomplish this!

Thanksgiving dinner was awesome and of course the best part was eating the leftovers. I spend most of my morning in the kitchen preparing all the food so by the time we sit down to dinner I am usually exhausted. I end up eating a small plate of food. However I make up for it eating the leftover's for a few days!!!
We had Turkey, Stuffing, Gravy, Rolls, Olives, Cranberry Sauce, Parmesan Roasted Butternut Squash, Green Bean Casserole, Mashed Potatoes, Baked Sweet Potatoes, Corn, Deviled Eggs, Pumpkin Pie and a Pumpkin Cheesecake from Trader Joe's.

glad you had a good feast. now, make that dentist appt!
I did not watch Charlie Brown, but I do like it and all the Peanuts characters. And I would enjoy a trip anywhere!
i do remember the sound of the mosquito sprayer.. before i read that i thought of 2 sounds, the loud rush of the creek we lived on, and the sounds from shooting the rifle with daddy, my favorite thing to do, shooting at bottles or cans as they floated by.
wow and wow again on cooking all that food.. delish..i love Charlie Brown quotes and cartoons but have never watched a movie. i don't watch animated anything..
I am so thankful for your #4 Debby. What a blessing the handkerchief ministry is.
love what keeps you humble
Oh my gosh, the fog truck! I forgot about that. We would run in the house when we heard him and then look out the window and watch the "fog" roll up to the house. Thanks for bringing back those memories!
Hi Debbie! I am not wild about going to the dentist either, i am going in next Wed for a cleaning. It'll be ok and it goes by like that. Take care!
Sounds like you had quite the spread for Thanksgiving! Going to the dentist isn't one of my favorite things to do, either...it's next month, in fact.
I always think of you whenever I'm decorating for Christmas! I think we go a above and beyond what most people do :) Are you having fun, yet?
You Thanksgiving feast sounds like an awesome one. I, too, am usually too tired to eat after cooking. I enjoyed myself this year :)
I guess Mark and I were thinking alike about the sounds of an ice cream truck. I didn't think about a mosquito truck, though.
You can do it! Call the dentist! You'll feel so good once that's behind you : ) I'm glad you had a nice Thanksgiving. I'm easing in to the Christmas decorating-baking-shopping. Happy December!
I remember the mosquitoe truck spraying chemicals and running through it. Norway my free trip! Handkerchief ministry sounds so rewarding-what exactly is this? We have a quilt ministry at church-some ladies make a small quilt for cancer patients.
Your Thanksgiving dinner sounds absolutely delicious! I love seeing the little variations from family to family. I totally agree with you about the Winter Wonderland trip to Aurora Borealis. That would be so amazing to see!
I said Norway too. Your Thanksgiving sounded delicious. Hope you can get in the mood for tree decorating soon. Me too for that matter. lol
That was a great dinner you cooked! I can see why at the end of the day you would be tired; but then the advantage is not having to cook for a few days afterwards. Funny about the sound of the ice cream truck; that is such a great memory and sound from childhood and you know whenever I hear one now, I do remember getting a treat from them when I was growing up.
betty
I LOVE A Charlie Brown Christmas. I even have it on DVD and watch it every year. This year's 50th anniversary special was fun. We recently took our "stand-in granddaughter" (daughter of one of our employees) to see the new Charlie Brown movie in 3D. It was fun.
Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving and that your Christmas preparations are going well.
What an amazing feast you prepared! I agree, leftovers are BEST! (Except we went out for prime rib and salmon this year and there wasn't enough on our plates to carry home.)
You're the second blogger in as many days to mention a gingerbread house. Hmmmmmm :)
That pie...yummy. :-)
I like giving gifts too.
xx oo

Better make that dentist appointment..I, too, am a procrastinator and I usually pay for it when cleanings come around. I hate the dentist office...just hate it. But I have seen what happens when you don't go.
I have never made a gingerbread house...one day..maybe!
Went to see Mockingjay yesterday with daughter....was surprised there were only 6 people in the theater....we both enjoyed it....now looking forward to Star Wars.....I'm not in the mood to decorate either and I'm not sure I'll do much this year.......maybe the mantle and the dining room....but I'm leaning toward a smaller tree.

Aren't those leftovers great! I love the stuffing especially, my favorite part. :-). I would have chosen the Northern Lights too. We used to see them often here in northern Wisconsin when I was a kid, but rarely these days.
Have a wonderful weekend, Debby.
I had to delete my last blog....this link will take you to the new one.
No I have not watched a Charlie Brown Christmas. You had a good meal. I was to tried to eat after cooking it as well. I didn't want the left overs either, unusual for me. Take care
Now, if you win that free trip and come over to Norway, I would love to tag along that last bit. Because even though I live in Norway, I live so far south that I have yet to see the Northern Lights and I would looooove to see them.
Hi I changed the formatting again, i wanted it to be Christmasy but they wouldn't let me change the green font. Hope you're having a great weekend and thanks for stopping by!
Oh yeah, the ice cream truck. We weren't allowed to have one in our town growing up but I like hearing it now :) I think it is so wonderful that you have a handkerchief ministry where you can bless others. Your Thanksgiving dinner sounds delicious and I agree about leftovers!
OMGosh that pie is so pretty!!
Christmas is my favorite holiday - I love all the lights and good foods!
I need to see a dentist too, but it's not gonna happen before the year is over.
