No Hodgepodge next week....Merry Christmas!
1. What's your biggest 'first world' problem?
Interesting question. I Googled and saw some really good examples. I guess I will say the price of organic fruits and vegetables.
2. Each year Time Magazine names a 'Person of the Year', someone who has 'for better or worse...done the most to influence the events of the year.' It was recently announced they've named Angela Merkel Person of the Year for 2015. You can read more about this year's selection here. Your thoughts? If you were in charge, who would you declare Person of the Year?

I don't watch the news so I am ill informed. Actually if you lived in my home this year you would pick me for Person of the Year!
3. Do you have a nativity set in your home? If so share it's history and how you display the pieces.
3. Do you have a nativity set in your home? If so share it's history and how you display the pieces.
I have several nativities in my home. I have one that belonged to my parents but I don't have it out this year. The pieces are made from paper mache.
I have my smaller ones out on a side table in the living room. I have a Jim Shore one out on display in my family room and my Willow Tree nativity is on our mantle. I don't have all of these out this year......
4. Do you make an extra effort to give back in some way during the holiday season? How do you encourage those who need encouragement this time of year?
I give back with my handkerchief ministry each year and at the same time I try to give each women encouragement. I will sometimes give them a link to a ministry where they may find help with the grieving process.
I usually try to give back at this time of year but haven't done much this year. I did buy a bag of groceries for someone that our Sprout's Grocery store offers at the Holiday.
I went out in my car yesterday and tried to find our mailman on his route. I wanted to give him a Christmas card with some cash. Does that count! I couldn't leave it in the box because I don't know his name and sometimes there is a substitute doing the deliveries. By the way I did find him!

5. Who is your favorite person to shop for?
Our precious little girl Skye and Amber's dog Charlie. They appreciate what I buy for them!
6. What's the last delicious thing you ate?
Some Peanut Butter M&M's. Had to break into our Christmas stash after an extremely bad evening. They were yummy, haven't had any in a very, very long time.
7. The best way to spread Christmas cheer is______.
7. The best way to spread Christmas cheer is______.
"The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all the hear." Elf
8. Insert your own random thought here.
Sorry my spirit is not merry and bright.
I pray everyone has a Very Merry Christmas.

Angela Merkel? The prime minister of Germany? Probably over the whole refugee thing (she said they could all come, no limits).
I have one nativity, but I don't know whether I will put it up or not. I made (knitted) it myself several years ago, but my cats have always had a fondness of dragging the figures throughout the house!
We do mailbox gifts too - luckily I know the name of our mail lady (because we often have substitutes too) so I can just put her name on the gift. She is awesome - she always brings treats for my dog and doesn't mind that he acts like an idiot and jumps in the car with her when she brings up packages.
fresh strawberries and cool whip yesterday. yumm i don't shop or give gifts to anyone. i love ALL your nativities, the top and bottom right corner are my 2 i like best. the one by the Bible is beautiful. stopped that in 2006. and i love it
love the sheep. :) my sis sent me chocolate covered caramels. they're all gone. i've not begun slaying a box of mixed chocolates. *sigh*
I'm with you, Debby...the cost of organic ANYTHING is ridiculous! Anything having to do with M & M's and I'm all in! Hope you and yours have a wonderful Christmas!
Well you need to sing loudly for all to hear :) I was fighting the same thing today. I have to keep reminding myself the true meaning of Christmas and to not get overwhelmed by the list of things I want to do.
I think it is so sweet of you to find your mailman and give him a gift. I am sure he appreciates it. Merry Christmas Debby!
Merry Christmas - we have a nativity scene too - but I bet not as many as you do!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I bet your home is gorgeous!
I love all your nativity scenes. I broke into some m & m's the other night too. It was necessary : ) I hope you have a happy Christmas Debby!
Your home is gorgeous with all the decorating you do for Christmas! I think it is cool with all the different nativity sets you do have :) Funny in all the years we had Koda we never gave him something for Christmas, but then he was so spoiled that every day was Christmas for him :) Sorry it was a rough time that you needed to break into the candy, this time of year can be so hard in so many different ways.
betty
Loved all your responses. The sheep cartoon made me laugh out loud. I love all you nativities. I love them.
Hi,
I have the Willow Tree Nativity as well. I do love it.
I liked your Postman story. Sweet of you. :-)
Merry Christmas!
Carla
I enjoyed your answers. I wish you a very nice Christmas. Thank you for your blog friendship throughout the year.
I needed the sheep cartoon-made me laugh out loud.
Not only, have I eaten candy, but since this is my last week of school-I have eaten way too much sweets from cakes to pies to cookies to brownies and my favorite was a MaMaw Pie-never heard of this or eaten this till yesterday.
Merry Christmas to you!
So many nativities. I think they're all wonderful. I had a bad evening earlier this week. I hope you pulled out of yours. The sheep cartoon was funny!
I'm trying hard not to break into the chocolate covered cherries!! I love that sheep cartoon. So cute. Lol
I'm sorry you're not feeling very merry this year Debby. I hope things get better soon.
I saw a special showing of Elf this year at a neat theater so I love the quote - it made me smile! I also love peanut butter m&ms, they're the best flavor of m&ms after mint!
I love that nativity scene!!
Organic fruit kills me :(
Love Peanut M&Ms. Also love that cartoon Debby.
Have a great time preparing for your Christmas guests.
I had a godiva truffle last night.. YUM!
I am sadly uninformed, too!
I bought some maple candies and ate them all before I'd finished unpacking the groceries.
I love the movie "Elf." I watched it twice this year.
