Volume 256
Thank you Joyce.
1. February 17th is National Random Acts of Kindness Day. It lands on the calendar one day after National Do Something for a Grouch Day (February 16) which somehow feels related. Perhaps the 16th inspired the 17th?
Tell about a time you performed a random act of kindness or were the recipient of one. Will you make an effort to perform a random act of kindness on the 17th? Share details if you're so inclined, and if you have something specific in mind.
I try to be kind to other's when I am out and about. I like to say hello to people and open doors for them. I do that all the time.
2.What's the most uplifting or encouraging thing you see happening in the world right now? You may have to dig deep for this one.
3. Black olives, black currants, black grapes, black beans, blackberries, Oreos...your favorite food the color of night? Your least favorite on the list?
Blackberries, Black Beans and Black Olives are favorites of mine. I guess I will say black currant for least favorite.
travel when you have the chance, take care of your skin, learn a foreign language, make exercise a habit, leave a toxic situation, stop caring what others think about you, stop worrying, volunteer, spend time with your grandparents, pledge to work less, learn to cook an amazing dish, and seize an opportunity as it arises
What do you think of the list? What would you add or remove and why? If you're over 50, have you done all 12? If you're not yet 50, have you done any at all? What's on the list that you haven't done, but would like to do?
That's a pretty good list. No I haven't done all 12. I definitely need to get into a regular exercise plan.
5. Besides the classic Christmas flicks, what's your favorite film where winter plays a part in the setting?
I'm going to say Fargo.
6.When did you last feel helpless, and what did you do about it?
I'll skip this one.

I am with you on number #1
Sending a HUG,
Carla
Debby you do lots of random acts of kindness!
I didn't know there was a National Grouch Day tho. lol
Hahaha on the cartoon! I had to look a while before I finally saw it. Cute. :-)
I think many of us do random acts of kindness on a regular basis when we give someone a smile, make someone laugh, cheer up someone who is down, open a door for someone, help someone at the store, etc.
You have a wonderful day, Debby!
xo
I am still giggling at spending time with my grandparents. i rather not since they are all in heaven... not yet anyway... also giggling at stop worrying. I am womam, I will worry... can't help that one.. if i work any less i will be visiting the above dead grandparents... the whole list made me giggle.. says who is my question.
any hoo.. i love all the list of black food except the currants, i don't eat them at all. Oreo is number 1, Blackberries 2 and the beans and olives tie for 3rd place.
LOL, it took me a bit to get the cartoon :) That was an interesting list of things to do before 50; I would say I did about half of them, but it is a good one to print out and share with those under 50 to see how many they might have accomplished already. So cute too about the teens bringing that lady the Valentines; I bet it made her day! I know a lot of people here for random acts of kindness pay for the drinks for the people behind them in the line at Starbucks.
betty
I think your handkerchiefs are an act of kindness : )
Hey Debby,
I think most of us, our age, need to get in an exercise thing. It's so hard, though.
I haven't seen the movie Fargo. I need to check it out on Netflix.
I agree with Joyce, your handkerchiefs are an [awesome] random act of kindness.
Love your proverb, Debby. I'm the one who spends so much time staring back at the closed door, I sometimes miss what's opening before me!
Those teens bearing Valentines are uplifting, indeed! Don't you wish the news carried more of those 'feel good' moments?
Took me a while to get your random thought lol. Nice story about the Valentines.
I don't think I've noticed anybody liking black currants. I'm not sure I've ever seen any! Your random acts are things I like to do, too. Smile and open doors for people and I also love to admire people's children or grandchildren. I know it pleases them. Your proverb is one I always remember from The Sound of Music.
I had to go back and look at the cartoon again until I got it!
cute cartoon. :) like blackberries. love good black bean dip.
Debby...that cartoon made me laugh! Continuing to pray for you!
like your answers
Loved your answers. The cartoon made me laugh out loud....this happened about a week ago on Saturday. BTW....I like Black Currants...and scones.
Looks like I forgot to post a hodgepodge again this week. Enjoyed reading yours Debby. Have you seen any of the Fargo tv series on FX? Ann and I really loved them. Season 1 is streaming on Hulu if someone has a subscription.
That is a good list - I've done many of those things, but not all. Wish I'd taken better care of my skin WAAAAY before 50!
Your random thoughts always my fav!!
