Volume 288
Thank you Joyce!
1. Give us three rhyming words that say something about your Thanksgiving holiday (or your most recent holiday gathering if you didn't celebrate Thanksgiving).
Blessing, dressing and expressing .....
2. When did you last say, 'the more the merrier'? Did you mean it?
I can't think of a time recently when I've used that saying.
3. What's one piece of advice you'd give someone who is your same age?
Well maybe someone a little younger than me. We bought this new house 10 years ago. (We still call it the new house)
We thought we would go to a one story house to make it easier on us but truthfully you just end up not using your knees and they weaken on you.
4. You're ordering a veggie plate, what four veggies are on it?
Mushrooms, spinach, snap peas and avocado.
5. Shop til you drop! Did you? Have you ever? Will you between now and Christmas?
No I won't shop til I drop except online. I make my list and go get the items. Mostly today everyone wants gift cards and most everyone is out of town.
No more wrapping and sending huge boxes to every one's houses. Some of the other random gifts I pick up are purchased during the year when something comes to my attention.
6. What's your favorite chair in your house, and why is it a favorite?
Probably just our side chair that matches the sofa in our family room. It has the ottoman and I am most comfortable in it when I'm watching a movie with Mark.
7. Share an early memory of faith, religion, or spirituality.
8. Insert your own random thought here.

I love the photo at the bottom - may I borrow it?
Let's see - do you really think having one floor makes the knees weaker - I have always wanted one floor.
My veggies - okra - turnip greens - sweet potatoes - and cucumber salad - can you tell I live in the south?
The more the merrier - for this Christmas - I am having 17 people!
Have a good day!
I like your random thought. There is so much truth in it. Gifts as I get older aren't as essential as holding on to those I dearly love and spending time with them. We had 2 story homes at times, now down to one story with a step into the kitchen and another step into the hallway leading to the bedrooms. I type a lot of reports with elderly people breaking a hip or having a stroke and not being able to go back home without a stay in rehab for a bit because they can't manage the stairs until the recuperate more. If you have a bath/bedroom on the main floor without climbing stairs, that would be an added bonus :)

Such a wonderful memory from your childhood! I also love your three rhyming words. :)
I have been thinking for about 2 minutes and can't come up with 3 words that rhyme. eating, reading and napping is what I did. in that order.
I agree with Chatty on the veggies, okra - turnip greens - sweet potatoes - and cucumber salad except remove the salad and ad mac and cheese.
I have always ordered my Chrismtas, before on line, I ordered by phone from Sears Catalog. now I shop on line but do not buy a single present.
my advice at my 72 years is to younger people Do Not Sweat the small stuff. like toys on the floor and books not in book cases and milk running off the table. I sweated it and now I know it did not matter.
I have never in my life said the more the merrier..
Love the random thought. Beautiful.
I love number 7!
Merry December, Debbie!

I love your random thought...so true! I'm going to share it with my facebook friends. What a lovely childhood memory. Have a good week.
Cheers!

15 years ago when our house was filled with kids coming and going, I probably said the more the merrier.....now it is almost lonely here....all those kids (not only mine) grew up, got married, had kids and moved away. Sometimes I yearn for those days with people popping in and out and some days I'm ok with just today!
I enjoyed reading your hodgepodge, Debby. And your random thought is so very true.
My mom swears that walking up and down the stairs has kept her young. We have stairs in this house, plus the area is a little hilly so my knees are definitely getting a workout : ) I love your rhyme. Hope your kids reached their destination safely.
I was stumped on the 3 rhyming words that would describe my Thanksgiving. Love that last picture and it's so true too.
You got to see the star, I saw Santa. For real. And I still believe it was him. I've been thinking about you all day. I thought about asking you on FB if they'd consider coming to SC and picking mine up and take her to Montana. LOL
Hey Debby! I enjoyed your answers today. As far as I'm concerned, gift cards are the way to go :) We give (and get) a lot of them.
I like your answer to #7, as well as your random thought.
Enjoy the rest of your week!

What a cool answer to #7, Debby. That gave me goosebumps!
Ya. At our house, Amazon is a 'bestie', too. There's no way you'll catch me at a mall this time of year.
PS - Now I'm craving spinach. :)))
There is only one thing easier than gift cards or cash. That is to do like a friend of mine used to do. When someone gave him a gift, he would say, "Thank you. I didn't get you anything." People would laugh and tell him that was okay. It was a lot cheaper that way.
I love number one. You couldn't have gotten it better.
Great post. I loved number 1 the best.
Debby, Loved reading this as always-love the last graphic. Sending hugs your way this cold Friday(of course it is probably warm in so.Ca.)
Hugs,
Noreen
Hello Debby, I'm trying to catch up on some blog posts. I see your facebook posts, but my computer has been acting up and it's been difficult to keep up with blogs. How lucky that you've seen the Christmas star. When I was a young girl I woke up one night to a brightness through the window. I looked out and saw, what looked like a ball of fire, over the cemetery across from our house. Needless to say, it scared me, and I went to my parents' bedroom!!! Never did understand what it was, but my mom used to say that her granddaddy swore that he saw balls of fire coming out of the cemetery a few times. ???? Still a mystery to me!
I'm not the shop til you drop sort. I, too, much prefer shopping on-line. It sure beats the crowds.
We moved in to a high ranch last year to help my mil, who lives downstairs. I can't stand going up and down the stairs and have a new admiration for ranches ;) But now you have given me something to consider. I love your random thought.
Haha the more the merrier is not a phrase I would use.
If what you say is true about knees, mine should be great. They ain't. =D That is a wonderful memory of looking out at the evening star. I saw a very bright star a week ago and now I'm wondering if that is the one...Venus?
Amen to that last photo and quote!!
