Volume 294
Thank you Joyce....
1. "The cure for anything is salt water-tears, sweat, or the sea." (Isak Dinesan) Would you agree? Of the three, which has 'cured' you most recently?
The more I read that quote the more I tend to agree with it but I'm not sure which has cured me recently.
2. What's something you can't eat without salt? Do you normally salt your food a lot, a little, or not at all?
I am not a salter, I've never have been one and now with the A-Fib I'm on a low salt diet. My husband on the other hand will put salt on salted peanuts!
3. Sands of time, bury your head in the sand, built on sand, or draw a line in the sand...which sandy phrase could best be applied to something in your life right now?
I have a lot going on right now. Maybe I would like to bury my head in the sand to forget some things but I can't right now. Will explain some things in my random.
4. A favorite book, movie, or song with an island setting or theme?
Well the very first thing that popped into my mind was "Cast Away" with Tom Hanks so I will go with that one.
5. Yesterday-did you run your day or did it run you? How so?
It ran me. I'll explain in my random.
6. You're on an island holiday. Will I most likely find you parked in a beach chair, shopping in town, on the back of a jet ski, or snorkeling off the back of a catamaran?
I think you will find me in a beach chair however I might prefer being at the pool and just walking on the beach.
7. What do you think we humans most take for granted?
Probably our health.
8. Insert your own random thought here.
So as you know Amber moved away after Thanksgiving. All is well with her and Dylan.
We just celebrated Adam's 38th birthday. I will tell you more later but he has gotten a fabulous job and he will be moving out soon. This empty nest thing is harder now then when they left the first time!
Thursday my dad didn't call. I tried calling him to remind him about the inauguration but no answer. Then a few hours later my sister called me to see if I had talked with him because he calls me every morning.
So after work she went to his house and he was found on the floor. He was alive and an ambulance was called. He broke his hip.
Because of his active life they decided to operate and he made it through surgery . I will write a post as soon as I can about all of this. He is not out of the woods yet. Prayers are definitely welcomed.
On Sunday I flew to Florida so I could see my dad. So life is very busy right now and my trees are still up!!!

I hope your dad is doing better today, and coping with the rehab process. I'm sure it's been scary and stressful, but hopefully he will make a full recovery. Thinking of you and keeping you and your dad in my prayers. Take care.
Prayers for your dad for successful surgery and full recovery. That was scary. My daughter wants me to keep my cell phone on me at all times. We never know. Good to hear about your kids. We never stop being parents.
Not too fond of salt. In fact, our local pool is a salt water pool and I don't like it at all!
Hope your Dad is getting better. Big hug.
So glad your sister was able to get over to check on your dad and they were able to operate. My 90 year old mil just had surgery and the rehab part is harder than we all expected. Prayers for a quick and smooth recovery for your dad. Maybe he will consider keeping a phone with him at all times.
That is good news about Amber and Adam; it is hard when they "finally" leave the nest, but that is our job to prepare them to do so. So sorry about your dad; praying for a swift recovery for him. It is hard when they are elderly, but at least he was in good health before the fall and the broken hip. Don't worry about the trees, they will still be waiting for you when you get home, no matter when that might be.

Praying your dad gets stronger with each passing day, Debby...I know this has been so hard on you. God has this! Yes, having your kids move out and return only to move out, again, is hard on your heart. Been there, done that. I'm glad your kids are doing well!
Prayers for your dad. Soak up every minute with him.
Trees can wait. Or decorate them for Easter :)
Oh, Debby! I'm so sorry to hear about your dad's fall and injury. Prayers will be going up for both of you...
((Hugs))

So sorry to hear about your dad! Praying he will have a full recovery! My dad fell several times but thankfully no bones were ever broken. He is in a nursing home now and doing so much better.
Enjoyed reading your Hodgepodge answers. This week's questions were quite intriguing!
in 2007 we went on low salt, and now I can't even eat a saltine. we buy the ones without salt and have grown to love them. but there is one thing I don't eat without salt and that is eggs, no mater how they are cooked. beaches for me but not islands. I want mine attached to dry land. I think the thing Americans take for granted is the fact we have so much food available in stores, it may not always be there.
have been praying for your dad.. the trees will be there and maybe you could leave them up all year.
Hello,
Sending prayers and hugs for you and your family.
I am so happy you are with your dad, the right choice. No worries about the trees. Many people have them up in our neighbor hood. I still have one of my small ones up.
Love, Carla
So sorry about your dad, Glad they could do surgery, and I hope for a good recovery. My kids are out of the nest and I am glad of it. One lives close by the other in CA.
Debby, I was so sorry to read about your dad. I felt like something urgent had happened when I read that you were flying to FL. Praying that he recuperates well and quickly. Our son and his family of five lived with us after Katrina in New Orleans. Although we loved having them there, and we all knew it was time for them to get to their new home, it sure left a big vacant hole in our house and hearts. Those trees will be there when you get home. You are doing exactly what you need to do right now.
Debby - life can change on a dime can't it? One minute everything is fine and the next it is not. I know how close you are to your dad and I know he is a very active man. I am glad that you are with him. I am going to be sending up some big prayers! Let us know. sandie
Only because my fingers and face blow up like a balloon I've practically eliminated salt from my diet altogether. DH, on the other hand, sounds just like your Mark!
Glad the kids are all well, but my mind's been on YOU and your dad! Odd, realizing that I drove by Mease Countryside every single weekday for the better part of a decade. Prayers continuing!
Oh, truly sorry about your dad, but so thankful he was found. That is such a scary thing. I'm glad you were able to fly out and be with him.
Please know I am keeping y'all in my thoughts and prayers, continually. Happy birthday to your sweet Adam. So good to know that the kids are doing well. Keep us posted!
Oh my gosh, Debby, I'm so sorry about your dad! I hope he heals up quickly. That's a tough injury at his age.
Cast Away - what a great movie. I'm such a fan of seashores.
