This was my dad after his fall eating breakfast in ICU. A lot has happened since then. He did make it through surgery on Sunday and his vitals have been good but the anesthesia was pretty hard on him.
In case you didn't know this he apparently fell in his kitchen after dinner on Thursday evening and broke his hip. He wasn't found until late Friday afternoon. I was trying to call him but he didn't answer. He calls me every morning. Then later my sister who lives here in Florida called and asked if I had talked to him. So she and her husband went over after work and found him on the floor.
So I flew here on Sunday. It has been a rough week. He was very dazed and confused. He got angered and they ended up giving him morphine to knock him out. Well that did at least get him to sleep since he had been up for 24 hours. He has pretty much been living in the 70's most of the week.
As of yesterday morning he pretty much back to himself. He was happy to see him. He ate all three of his meals with help from us. He was moved out of the hospital to a rehab center where he will spend a few weeks getting back up on his feet.
I will keep you posted. This has been very emotional and draining for me. I am with him all day at the hospital. I have not had time to read any blogs but hope to catch up when I get home.
My plan is to go home while he is in rehab and return when he is released to go home or get him set up with assisted living. He is a very independent man at 93 and very stubborn too!
Hope all is well with each of you.......

prayers for healing for him and for him to get back to living at home. thanks for the update
Do not worry about us and your blog. Worry about your dad and taking care of you - you don't want to get sick. Hugs and prayers. sandie
Dear Debby, So glad he is doing better; it is very common for elderly patients to become so disoriented in the hospital-to the point of wondering if they'll ever be able to go back home(at least that was how it was with my dad). The drugs also seem to work havoc with the minds. Hope you are getting the rest you need.
Hugs,
Noreen
Very thankful that he has improved. Remembering you and him in my prayers.
That's a good idea, Debby, to go home and come back when he is out of rehab. Rest assured they will not release him from rehab to "independent living" if they don't think he can do it on his own or with the assistance of others, etc. Get some rest and don't worry about blogs!

Wishing your dad a speedy recovery. Hugs and prayers for you
Thanks for the update. I know how dear he is to you.
So sorry about your dad. Glad he is okay now.
Good to hear he's on the mend. But don't you get sick looking after him now!
So glad to hear his mind has cleared. That anesthesia can do a number on elderly people. Take care of yourself so you can take care of him!!
Praying for you and your dad.
Prayers continue! Please don't over-do it yourself!
That stubborn spirit might just be his strength! Blessings...
I'm so sorry to hear this! I remember how hard it was when my Nan fell. I know he's glad you're there and while I know it's hard, I know there's no where you'd rather be. Hang in there, lady!! <3 L
Good morning, Debby~

Continued prayers for a quick recovery!

So sorry Debby. Aging parents are a challenge for our heart. Pray that he rebounds quickly and that you get some needed rest.
He looks good. We are going through something similar with my 90 year old mil who is in rehab now. Not easy and draining for sure. (((Hugs)))
I can remember when my grandfather broke his hip. Not an easy recovery. Hope your dad feels better soon!
